“I was in Virginia for work. When I asked a few people what their favorite Mexican restraunts were in the area and everyone said Plaza Azteca. I sat at the bar, and the staff was very attentive and pleasant. I had empanadas and eloté. I really wanted to order more because everything on the menu sounded delicious. However, my appetite said enough. I almost forgot, when they served the chips and salsa, you get a regular salsa ( which was very good) and a white salsa. I was so confused because I had never seen a white salsa. I smelled it and immediately smelled mayo. I was very intrigued, so I tried it, and oh my goodness, was it good. I couldn't make out all of the ingredients in taste, but it definitely was interesting and good.“
“I've been here a few times now and I have to say, this is one of the best tasting spots in the area. I love the family feel of the staff. I usually get shrimp fajitas but have tried other things as well. As a recent transplant from NYC, I'm happy I found a great replacement in the area.“
“First class Tex-Mex food. Excellent service, reasonable prices, large portions ... sorry this is such a boring review, but I really don't have anything critical to say.One point of note to show that I'm not gushing without justification: this is a rather large restaurant; it appears two to three times its size when inside than when looking at it from the outside. And on a routine Tuesday evening, it was quite busy--70+80% full. That is remarkable.Parking: Typical strip mall, all on one level.Wheelchair accessibility: Everything is on one level.“
“Excellent food and service! As an Arizonian, I greatly approve! I had written off mexican food since moving here but that is no longer necessary. We will be back regularly.Atmosphere is modern/updated but traditional, like being back home. Love the personalized tables!Kid-friendliness: My daughter is in love with the newly renovated bathroom.“
“Best mexican restaurant I've been to in virginia so far. The service was quick, the food was awesome and the amount you get is definitely worth the price. The atmosphere was nice, just wish you could here the music a little more where we were sitting.“
“Tried this place for the first time today and it was excellent! I had the carne asada fries, the fries were the perfect texture and the guacamole on top very tasty! We also had the Elote corn and oh my gosh, it was the best I’ve ever had! It seemed very clean and owners were very friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to go back again and try out some of the other menu items.“
“I have to say the nice lady that took my order over the phone earlier she answered my question and my order was exactly how I wanted it and she was really nice even when I came to pick up my order , the food tasted great ! I’ll be coming back to this location just based off the staff , I have one in my city and I rather drive 30 minutes away just because of the staff ! Keep up the great work“
“Went with a friend for lunch today. I had the birria tacos and he had a torta al pastor. The server didn't seem to speak English but we managed. The birria tacos were absolutely amazing and I can't wait to go back. Unfortunately my buddy believes he received carne asada in his torta vs the al pastor he asked for.“
“I’ve been coming here for years and it’s always been great. Tonight I had the chicken and shrimp fajitas and was impressed with the portion size. It was delicious!I thought it felt like things were missing and realized when I got home it’s because there wasn’t rice and beans on one plate with the lettuce, tomato and guac on the side or even on a separate plate. This time it was just beans no rice on the same plate as lettuce, tomato and guac. Would have been great with cheese but it was delicious without it.I will continue to recommend this place because the food is always good and the staff is very welcoming.Dietary restrictions: I don’t eat beef or pork and love that there are plenty of foods I can choose from that taste good. They have many different shrimp and chicken options. Even vegetarian options.“
“This spot sits in the Phoebus section of Hampton, VA, and I can see why they're so popular. The food and drinks are very fresh and tasty, the Mexican music was excellent, the location is great, and the people who work there seem to take pride in their jobs.If I had one suggestion, it would be to be sure to greet EVERYONE who walks through that front door. If that is too complicated when it's busy, at least have a visible sign, letting customers know to seat themselves. Other than that, we had an outstanding experience.“
“Best Tacos I have had since I have been here in Norfolk the last two years 10 out of 10 I would definitely recommend everyone to eat HERE. Everyone is friendly and very inviting. The place was completely clean and well organized. The food is completely fresh and the best Carmen's Restaurant Latin really making me feel like home and reminded me of home.Kid-friendliness: Family environment“
“The birria in this authentic Mexican restaurant is so good! The chips and bean dip is delicious, service is exceptional. You can see they prioritize communication and that makes a great experience even better. The owner, Edgar, is passionate about serving good food and it shows in every meal. Portions are generous, spices are flavorful. Could use another makeover, but it's an old Hardee's so...there's that.“
“I have visited here during different times of the day and the food and service is always consistent. Recently went for a friend’s birthday lunch and they were able to accommodate a party of over 20 people on short notice. Hands down this is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area you will not be disappointed. The pollo con crema is my fave and a must try if you like chicken, sour cream and queso dip.Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly menu available“
“If we are talking price, it's fair if we are talking quality it's the best in the area, in my opinion. Margaritas are hand-made in front of you and not premixed like other restaurants. Their specials are always good and they have a great ambiance. I'm very picky when it comes to Mexican, and I can say they consistently impressed “
“I only got a photo of my quesabirria. Originally 8 slices (fills a small pizza box). It was the best birria that I have had to date. Flavorful, meaty. I got a small side of the spicy salsa and it is truly spicy. Make your nose run spicy. My daughter had a burrito bowl which she like but I didnt care for the steak. Overall it was good and I will order again.“
“I come from NC every few months and my 1st stop is always Juan's for dinner. I love their Birria Tacos but whoever was cooking during the lunch hour on 12/8 needs lessons from the dinner cook. They were tastless and the sauce was nothing but fat and watery. Hopefully it was just an off day. The server was excellent.“
“I really liked this place. I initially came in to have a margarita. I was sat at a table and since I did not want to cook I decided to order take out and have a drink. The service was good and fast. I didn’t have to wait and was quickly served my whole visit. My food was very good as well! It is a cute little place with a cozy atmosphere. I will be returning to this location as it was a very good experience.“
“The kids were running around like 5yr olds who been sitting too long & the staff & few ppl who were there were actually Super nice and friendly! The food came FAST & HOT!!! Granted, tho I've never been here when it's super busy so idk how they wud do then. I had a good “
“When you first walk into El Rancho, it has the typical Mexican decorative flare, with bright colors and walls textured to look like stucco. Depending on the day of the week and time you arrive, you may have to wait, but it's never for very long. (Don't even try to get into the parking lot on the evening of the Poquoson Christmas parade!) Seating is somewhat comfortable. The tables and backs of the booths are painted with beautiful scenes. The chips and salsa are wonderful, but most of the time I have to ask for the white salsa. The wait staff is very friendly, but whatever you need, you should ask for when you order your meal because you may not see the wait staff again for a while. I'm one of those people who likes having both rice and beans, but here you have to order one or the other with your meal. The food is somewhat bland compared to other area restaurants. The fajitas need a bit more flavor. And as far as pricing goes, it's probably just above average for a Mexican restaurant. I don't know how good their alcoholic beverages are because I've never had one.“
“As a tourist, it was incredible to experience what has been described to me as the "757" culture. The atmosphere was great, if a little too loud for my taste, but the people were very nice and really there to have a great time.Food and drinks were really good too. I recommend a Birria Burrito to anyone that wants to try it, alongside their delicious crab dip with tortilla chips.“
“Stopped here after church and it was busy but we got seated right away. Food was good and atmosphere was nice. It seems a little pricey at first but then you get a generous portion of food. We had the fish and chips, brunch Benedict, rodeo burger and BLT. All great dishes but my favorite was the onion rings!“
“This is the first time I have gone to this location and the experience was pleasant. I am not sure if this is contributed to Teyanna, but since she has been there, it is definitely much better. The other shift manager was always on her phone, never greeted you, never made sure the food was hot and fresh, display was always a mess and her facial expression always made you feel like she preferred you eat elsewhere. Thank you Teyanna for contributing to my experience today!“
