“Carry out dinner , tasty fresh ginger beef, sweet and dour chicken, orange beef, and chicken satay have graced our orders. Always so tasty! :) Agree takes longer than told, and that crispy orange beef is delicious but not necessarily crispy meat, but golly it is so good! Atmosphere fine for take-out. Many yummy dishes. Have not tried the burgers or Thai dishes, I think included so that nearby businesses have great options. Have been there three times, all different entrees and appetizers. . :) 😋“

“Crispy shredded beef and Kung Pao chicken were tasty. General Tso's shrimp had so much breading on it that I had a hard time finding the shrimp. I would not recommend this dish unless you mostly want fried bread. I asked for medium spicy and the dishes were mild. The portions were very generous as we have left overs. The delivery from the time I ordered took a total of 55 minutes. I like supporting local business and will try other dishes from them.“

“I almost didn’t walk into Hunan Taste. When I saw pho on the menu, I hesitated. I know pho. I’ve had it done right, and when a Chinese place throws it on the menu, it usually means they’re trying to be everything to everyone.

But I’m glad I went in.

I ordered what I always judge a place by — roast pork and lo mein. If you can’t get that right, nothing else matters. The roast pork was legit. Flavorful, not dried out, not that bland filler meat some of these pop-up spots use. Mix it with the lo mein? That’s a winning combination every time.

Then came the egg roll. Not a spring roll. A real egg roll. Thick wrapper, crispy, hearty filling.

But what sealed it for me was the mustard. Homemade Chinese mustard — the real deal, the kind that clears your sinuses and lets you know someone back there cares.

If you’re in Springfield and you want solid Chinese food, this is a good spot. I’ll be back.“

“Ordered takeout from here several times. Good portions and food is freshly cooked and piping hot! Angie at the register is friendly and courteous and sometimes puts extra things like mints or stickers in your order! 😊
They are mostly a takeout place, but also have 2-3 tables if you want to dine in.“

“This place has great Chinese food!! Love how it’s piping hot even after the 15 drive home after pickup or when they deliver. All of the fried rice dishes, beef chow fun, chicken with broccoli, beef chow mein are some of our favorites. They’re also very nice and friendly. Super quick too.

The outstanding customer service I received at Golden Restaurant truly deserves to be highlighted. On an especially hot day, I walked in and was immediately offered a cold bottled water—completely free of charge. It was such a thoughtful gesture that set the tone for the rest of my visit.

When I called ahead to place an order for shrimp fried rice with customization (no msg, light on the soy sauce, very little oil), they listened intently and even repeated my requests so I can verify. Lo and behold, they delivered exactly what I asked for—the dish was cooked perfectly to my liking!

It’s rare these days, especially at a mostly pick-up-style restaurant, to find staff who are not only helpful but genuinely considerate and accommodating. “My family’s been coming to Empire for the last 20 years, even after we moved 30 min away, this is still our primary Chinese takeout spot. My biggest mistake was not leaving this review sooner. Food is always great, incredibly quick. Sure, prices have gone up but food cost doesn’t just affect consumers, it affects businesses too, so while not ideal, I get it. Yesterday, my buddy and I ordered some food for carry out on our way out of his storage unit. Come to find out, if you don’t leave by 9pm, they lock you in, literally. I called Empire back to tell them of the situation, and without hesitation, they offered to bring our food to us at the storage unit despite being 5 minutes to closing by the time we figured out that the police officer’s code wasn’t going to work (we thought we were gonna have to stay the night). Not only that, when he realized our situation, he went back out to a gas station to get us utensils to eat our food there *and* got us 2 drinks. We ended up getting out very shortly after, but it really stuck in my head that this is one of the nicest things a complete stranger has done for me. I didn’t need any other reason to keep coming to Empire, but this validates my love for this place and the people that run it. The best part is the food was still warm when we made it back home. “Great meal - especially for those all day dim sum dumpings. Food is great - service sadly not so much but still worth it! Staff is really rude til they give you the bill which is extremely reasonable, they squish you into tables with bars that hit your shins too, tables of 6-10 be mindful of that! Otherwise excellent food just waited awhile for service and again they were ride literally hit my head with plates or elbows from behind without warning. Still love it.lol we all laughed sooo hard when 5 of my boys ordered a drink (soda/lemonade) which came
in a bottle and to go my son whom previously ordered water, ordered a soda to go thinking it to would be a bottle to go arrived in a cup full of ice!!! “I don’t usually write reviews, but Mandarin Court inspired me in the same way a flat tire inspires you to learn how to change one — out of necessity… except this time, it was a pleasant surprise necessity.

This was, without question, one of the most unexpectedly memorable Chinese food experiences I’ve had.

The General Tso’s chicken was impressively subtle and balanced — a culinary achievement, really, considering the dish is normally known for being overpowering. It had that comforting, reheated-in-the-best-way feel, like leftovers that somehow taste even better the next day. They even served it in the same container it was warmed in, which honestly made it feel cozy and unpretentious — like eating something straight from the kitchen before it even has time to cool down.

The fried rice was… unique. Not your standard heavy, greasy version — more like a time capsule of classic takeout flavors. It felt intentional. Retro, even. The fried beef? Minimalist. Deep-fried breading with just enough beef inside to keep you guessing. Calling it “fried beef” might undersell the artistry. “Breaded air sticks with beef rumors” still applies — but in that avant-garde, less-is-more kind of way.

Food aside, the aesthetics of the place give off strong “no-frills, all-focus-on-the-food” energy. The floors and simple interior lean lived-in rather than flashy, and the cool dining room temperature? Let’s call it invigorating. Like a bus stop in January — but you’re waiting for something worth it.

I went in thinking, “How bad could it be?” and left thinking, “Well… that was definitely an experience.”

Would I recommend it? If you appreciate character, commitment to simplicity, and a dining story you won’t forget — absolutely.“

“I get Hunan Chicken (sometimes Hunan Beef) I really enjoy it. I can't have onions and they have always been able to make sure to leave them out for me. I generally just take it to go so I can't say what the dining in experience is like but I havent had an order messed up or missing from them and it has always been hot and delicious. I typically get the Crab Rangoon also and those are pretty good.“

My least favorite was the crispy wonton it was more fried dough then meat. The beef chow fun is delicious. Good sized noodles with enough veggies and beef. Szechuan beef was good but wasn't exactly spicy.

All of the items were reasonably priced. If you want something easy and quick, definitely check it out.“

There were several tables with chairs for dining in so I decided to stay and eat. The tables were clean. “Grab & Go type restaurant inside Fresh World (Asian & International Grocery Store) serving Chinese barbecue. Their crispy pig (heo quay) is the best in the area, perfectly crisp and seasoned. We also love the salt and pepper duck; the sauce that comes with it is to die for. They sell vietnamese desserts and bbq roast pork buns too, but these are known to sell out fast.“
