Entered through an unimposing path between two buildings, you can either eat in a historic house or on the two level landscaped patio complete with a waterfall. “Clifton Cafe is our new favorite evening spot on the weekends. We’ve been customers since the original owners opened it years ago, but until this past fall we did more to go orders than dine in since the service and time to prep food was often slow and unpredictable. Now we go almost every week. We’ve noticed big improvements since they expanded their kitchen and redesigned the bar area. Their new pull up bar is beautiful and spacious. The new owners and management are great too! We love the evening staff as well, especially Ian and Nicole. They are very personable, accommodating, and attentive. They have great happy hour specials from 3-6 and make the best margaritas and espresso martinis. Some of our favorite dinner items include the crab dip, Mediterranean salad, cuban sandwich, burgers, crab cakes, quiche specials, banana pudding, and too many crepes to name! We also appreciate that they have become more family friendly. We had a last minute party of 14 on a Friday evening (half of which were children ages 1-11) and they didn’t hesitate to pull some tables together in a private nook to accommodate our large group (again thanks to Ian and Nicole). We noticed they finally got a changing table in the large bathroom, which they are about to install. Our kids are past that stage, but there were several times when they were little that a changing table would have been helpful.“

Mixed reviews on the food: Papaya salad was a downer. Lacks that nice flavor with fish sauce and papaya slices were sliced a bit too thick. Tom kha gai and chicken wonton soups were a winner. Lovely coconut milk flavor for tom kha soup. Fried tofu was pretty decent. The sweet and sour sauce for crispy flounder rocked, but I was expecting a slightly fresher flounder than what we had. Overall a pretty nice experience and we may return if we pass by the area again.“

“I am a fan of unagi (eel), so when a friend recommended Taiko Sushi I had to start with their unagi domburi (eel over sushi rice).

It is simply the best unagi domburi I have ever had in the DC area.

It was $30, but the portion size was generous and it came with several small sides such as Japanese pickles and seaweed salad. I'm glad I didn't buy an appetizer, or I wouldn't have been able to eat it all.“

The service was quick and efficient. The calamari was perfectly fried, crispy and delicious, and the pho was outstanding. “Well... you could not finish my 1/2 chicken with a side salad and yuka. This means that the portions are pretty good size. The food was delicious and the service was fast. For 1/2 chicken and Malanesa de polls we paid $32 (no drinks). They offered water cups and we took them. The white sauce is mayo like, the green is spicy (you have been warned). I would recommend to friends.“

“This is my GO-TO Indian Restaurant from now on. I absolutely love butter chicken, and after ordering from a horrible place last night I decided to call before I ordered from a new place (I really wanted butter chicken this weekend) the person who answered the phone was super nice and understanding, and kept her promise. Been multiple times and have always had a great experience. They also work their butts off keeping the orders cranking out. We have a gluten allergy and dairy allergy in our family so they are always helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating when we order. The space is adorable. You can feel the vibe that is a kind, loving, community space.“

“Lil Cow Cafe Bistro, located in Rolling Valley Shopping Center in Burke, offers a cozy, farmhouse-like atmosphere with large windows that flood the cafe with sunlight. “I don’t know why it took us so long to try Presto’s but boy do we wish we had done it sooner! We have made three trips here since Thanksgiving and the pizza has been outstanding. The dough has a nice chew but is firm too. The toppings all taste fresh and there are plenty of choices. We haven’t eaten in the restaurant because they don’t serve fountain drinks or beer although they do have a basic selection of bottled drinks for sale. The service has been friendly and accommodating. I can’t imagine we will get pizza from any other place now.“

“Our first time here, we are astounded!! Kid got the bulgogi bowl and loved it. The charred cabbage was an amazing treat. I got the Sando and it is HUGE. House sauce was so good, you can definitely tell the coleslaw is homemade. Wife got the chicken wrap and the veggies were fresh with three huge tenders inside. Fries are basic frozen ones, but they are hot and crisp and way better cooked than most places. We ended up taking at least half of everything home! Place is super clean, staff was very friendly and helpful when we needed salt and BBQ sauce for the fries. We are most definitely coming back to try more!“
