As fans of Persian cuisine and frequent shoppers at Yekta Market in Rockville— having recently tried our hand at making Persian dishes like Fesenjan at home— coupled with all of the culinary accolades— we had high expectations for JOON. It not only met but exceeded them. Mast-o Musir, yogurt dish with Persian dried shallot and rose petal, was exceptional— more elevated and nuanced than any we’ve had. The mushroom Khoresht stew with white truffle was another highlight, offering perfectly balanced flavors something hard to do with white truffles and a satisfying richness, complemented by the perfectly crunchy Tahdig, iconic golden rice crust. The braised lamb shoulder which Yacine suggested was the undeniable highlight of the meal I which each dish was excellent. Tender and flavorful, it was paired beautifully with texture. It’s a signature dish that rivals the best we’ve ever had, bringing to mind the legendary Bo Ssam pork shoulder from David Chang’s Momofuku— bold, unforgettable, and expertly prepared. The Gormeh Sabzi, short rib stew with its delicious sour depth, was excellent but couldn’t quite match the lamb’s showstopping brilliance. Two very minor points. While the food and service are exceptional, the main dining room lighting would benefit from dimming. A water filtration water system could make a big difference as well. JOON has firmly secured its place as a must-visit dining destination for us. We can’t wait to return and explore more of the menu.“

I dont like to Cook sometimes so cava the first choice come to my mind and in the same time its healthy and they have multiple things to chose to eat. “Delicious food. We wanted a bite after a hike in the Great Falls area and this sounded like a good place to try. There was plenty of free parking and we were seated immediately upon going in. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, with a very relaxed atmosphere. Everything on the menu looked so good so we started off with some appetizers, both of which were delicious. I loved the Shirazi salad, which was delicious and refreshing. The kashk e bademjoon had a great flavor profile and went wonderfully with the pita bread. For my meal I had the chicken shawarma, which was probably one of the best I’ve had. The chicken was so moist and flavorful, with just a hint of cardamom. My wife had the apple orchard salad, and son the gyro Greek salad. This place is a must-try.“

“I have gone twice and both times have been amazing. There is a good variety of flavorful food to choose from. I love the chicken kabobs. They are so good and juicy. But my favorite is the rice. I'm not familiar with all the names but every type I've tried has been good. On top of the great food is the friendly and welcoming staff. This is some of the best kabob I've had in the area. And to have a buffet lunch is a dream come true.“

I ordered a mint and Turkish coffee to start with the intention of ordering lamb. When the sheep came, I was surprised in an interesting way by the presentation of the dish. The sheep is butter, soft, and cooked in the literal sense and looks exactly the same as it did in the menu, bones and all.“

Just a heads up if you chose a signature plate they will make it without any additional inquiries. I thought I was being ignored after suggesting it but she was speeding along and I was an idiot assuming the worst.

Utensils are near the entrance doors along with napkins, grabs one since they aren't placed in the bag for to gos, or at least not for mine.“

“We love Mezeh restaurants, so when visiting Tysons for the day we stopped into this one. It’s actually connected to the mall via Bloomingdale’s.

Service was great, helpful, and friendly. The selection was excellent and all items were fresh and appealing looking. Their chicken kabob was really nicely done and tender! That shuug sauce was spicy, but flavorful!

“Hidden gem of a shop, literally as you have to navigate through an office building to get there. The presumably owner was wonderful and very helpful, he also emphasized his use of extra virgin olive oil for health. I don’t think the Chicken Msakhen I got was on the online menu, but so so tasty.

More of a takeout shop than a date night vibe, but it does have free WiFi! Please consider giving them your business, it’s so worth it“

“Stopped on our way to Jersey, and glad we did! Absolutely delicious! We got the platter to start and every dip you could tell was homemade. We also got the bowls with chicken and gyro meat and it was delicious. The rice was perfectly seasoned and the tzatziki was amazing as well.“
