“Derrick our waiter was exceptional! My daughter and I recently went to a luncheon program in the Regency Room. Other years there has been a buffet, but this time it was a set plate affair. Flank steak was on the menu! My daughter is vegetarian! I quietly inquired of Derrick if a vegetarian plate was possible? As he brought everyone at our table their meat meal, he set a vegetable meal in front of her! She was surprised and delighted! He saved the day!“

However, I was disappointed with the preparation of the redfish, which was cut into small, thin pieces and served with the skin left on—something I didn't find particularly appetizing. While the accompanying tossed salad with peas and the overall flavor of the dish were good, the dish felt underwhelming and not very satisfying. The ribeye also fell short of expectations, as it contained quite a bit of gristle, which detracted from what should have been a premium cut of meat. Overall, while the ambiance and service were excellent, the execution of some key dishes left room for improvement.“

“Craft 31 is my favorite restaurant in Williamsburg, but this dinner in particular was the best experience we've ever had!! Our waitress was outstanding, and the manager was so kind. We dined in with our 1 year old baby, and the entire staff kept interacting with her and complimenting how cute she was. “The room is much smaller than what they used to have dedicated to this service. Therefore the tables are closer together. On the day we were there. It was only about half-full, so we had no problems in that regard. Otherwise, the space is nicely decorated and comfortable. Michael, our waiter, was prompt, helpful, and friendly. He anticipated many needs and was responsive and thoughtful. He meets the high expectations one would have at this kind of facility and price point. The food was fresh, well-prepared and, at times, imaginative/ innovative. There was a good selection and all of the various dishes ordered at my table came out right, and were delicious. The coffee is abysmal so, if you like good coffee, it's best to avoid it here. The orange juice was thick and fresh, not thin and watery as it often is in restaurants. The poached eggs and omelets were textbook perfection. It was very nice to have a selection of usual things with optional regional twists. There also was a good array to meet everyone's dietary considerations. I do think the food is much more consistent and enjoyable than it has been the last few years. I give it a solid A.“

“We had a wonderful dining experience from the welcoming greeters at the door to our wonderful server. The food was amazing from pea soup to steak to dessert, and the punch bowl! The Pringle’s ginger beer drink was very good, too. My daughter loved the oysters. It was a wholesome experience with live music and authenticity in the details (even the silverware is made in Williamsburg). It was also a treat to eat somewhere where historical figures dined in colonial times, but also really an art form to serve a menu inspired by recipes from the 1700s (and everything tasted amazing and fresh). The service was pretty impeccable for the whole staff (lots of servers, greeters, and staff).“

“When I originally put this review on FB, I chose "does not recommend". I was reading the response from the pub and noticed that it has been changed to recommends. I do not recommend. This is my original post: We ate here today and the food was very subpar and the prices were fine dining prices. We paid $18 each for a wedge salad that consisted of a half a head of iceberg three sliced cherry tomatoes and a drizzle of ranch dressing. It had about a half a tablespoon of bacon on it and a quarter tablespoon of blue cheese crumbles. Was very basic and for $18 I would expect a little more thought put into the construction and presentation of the salad. I ordered the fish sandwich and the batter coating was not cooked at all. I had to scrape it off in order to eat the fish. when I pointed this out to my waiter, his response was well is the sandwich at least a little warm. My friends burger was overcooked and both of our buns were stale they were not toasted but they were stale. She ordered brussel sprouts on the side and they were really mushy and did not have a lot of flavor and our dessert was very sloppily presented. I paid $150 for two sandwiches two salads and two desserts and it was all very subpar. I will not be eating here again. I will take my $150 and go someplace decent like Food for Thought or Le Yaka.“

“Up until this morning, my family never had a negative experience at the Williamsburg First Watch. The food was always good. and the customer service top-notch. That changed today. It started with the waitress...she didn't offer any sort of greeting and, when my mother asked for a plate of bacon to share after I had ordered the "Trifecta" breakfast (with bacon, eggs over easy, and a multi grain pancake), the waitress asked me if I still wanted what I ordered and, when we sought suggestions, she stood silent. She gave us coffee when we asked, but poured hardly any in the cups and left us barely half a carafe. My eggs came over hard instead of over easy (as did my mother's, even though she asked for over easy too. The bottom of my pancake was burnt. (I took pictures of all of this in hopes that I could speak with the manager). I also ordered orange juice, which was never brought to the table. Our waitress then disappeared, so I had to flag down another waitress to get more coffee. creamers. and a few napkins. She at least was gracious enough to offer to do so. When I finally saw our waitress at the counter, I raised my hand to get her attention, and she gave me the "wait a minute" gesture. It took her five minutes to get to us. When she did come over, I asked her for what we needed, and she didn't seem overly thrilled about getting what we asked for. When she dropped the check, I told her she never brought my juice, and wanted her to remove that from the bill, which she did (with a half-hearted apology for that at least, after asking me if I still wanted it, which would have been pointless after the meal). Forty dollars for a meal experience worth less than half that. All-in-all, compared to past experiences, I can totally see why so many negative reviews have been posted lately.“
