“I come here maybe four or five times a year. Some places, even the best places, they'll let you down every once in a while. Sahara Cafe has never done that. If I have one gripe, it's the parking, but the location doesn't lend itself to resolving that and, besides, that's got nothing to do with the proprietors or the food and service they provide. If you've never had Somali food and you're interested, but not sure where to start, give this place a try. A good try. Go out of your way to come here. It's that good.“

“I'm mad my friend didn't show me this spot earlier!!! For starters, we had the mezze platter. It came with dolmas (so good!! Perfect marriage of rice and spices!), tzatziki (so fresh! The mint...yum!!), baba ganoush (with a smokey hint), hummus (so fresh!!), tabouli (best ive had in a long time! It was not overwhelming with parsley... super enjoyable. So good we got orders to go!), and the piyaz (a chilled white bean salad with ginger root, onion, tomato, EVOO, and garlic...so good we got orders to go!). Entrees we had the mesopotamian lamb and beef (the stew was so comforting..like a hug. The lamb was so tender!), and the lamb chops (love the rosemary and garlic!) For dessert...freshhhhh baklava, freshest ive had. It had just been made. It was so perfect! It's not so heavy compared to the normal baklava with honey that Im used too. Looks like I have a new favorite Mediterranean spot to go to!!! The staff was great. The food was amazing.“

“Shawarma Land was perfect! A good place to go for a quick bite of lunch and or snack. It was perfect for me because I'm muslim and I like to know that my food is halaal. I don't ha e to worry about cross contamination or it the utensils are clean from other foods that are not clean foods according to my way of life. Awesome!!!“

“We recently had a reception of 25 people, catered by Homer and could not be more pleased with the results. With a diverse party of vegetarians to big carnivores and locals, out of state and out of country guests, everyone was impressed with the food. Guests going for seconds, thirds and I swear a few even went for more, so I know they weren't just being polite. There was ample enough portions to accommodate everyone's appetite for this glorious food. From working with Caroline on the menu and logistics to the final product being received it was a true delight. We truly cannot say enough. This meal will be remembered as a wonderful part of a memorable night. Thanks so much Homer!“

“I don't normally rave about restaurants, because let's be honest, most around here are simply not that good. This place is absolutely delicious! Got the gyro plate. Meat was tender and moist. Salad was fresh and delightful. Rice was out of this world! Absolutely loved it! HUGE portions. They also use the compostable takeout boxes. We will definitely be back.“

“Fabulous flavors and great spicing. Had lamb shawarma and the lamb/beef, both great. Baba ganush clearly freshly made and tangy. The owner came around and chatted with us, too; they import ingredients from abroad and it definitely tastes like it, especially for the baba ganush. Also, their juices are lovely and fresh, and the chai tea is also well spiced.“

They made great recommendations and checked in to make sure I was happy with everything. The food itself was delicious, with good portions that left me full but not overly stuffed. “Surprising unexpected delight by the side of a busy road with not a lot of foot traffic between Swedish Hospital and Virginia Mason! I think more could be done with the decor, and it was understaffed, but the food was AMAZING! I can see why it is so highly rated - the meat is perfectly bribed or seasoned or whatever magic they do to make it tender and infused with flavor throughout. We had the Gyro plate and the Beef Shwarma plate along with the Baba Ganoush - each was excellent in their own way, and the garlic dressing in the accompanying salads is to kill for. “I just decided to stop in here in a whim when I was dropping my dog at the groomer's because I have a surplus of tzatziki at home that I wanted to grab some pita bread to have with. Decided to get an order of hummus and some baklava as well to see if I needed to come back at a later time and try more items....I'm so glad I did because I'm blown away by how good this hummus/pita/baklava is. It's so good that I haven't even pulled the tzatziki out of the fridge to eat with this stuff. And I have way too much tzatziki! And it's GOOD tzatziki too! I just don't need it because that's how great the hummus from Gyro Shawrma is.“

“The food is delicious . Everything is made with pride . It’s all fresh and made in house . Since it’s fresh and made to order , you will have to wait . It is worth it . I highly recommend the Greek french fries , amazing. Also I would not skip the chai tea or baklava, both so good. Friendly family business that appreciates its customers. The only thing I did not like was not their fault . Customers constantly talking loudly on cell phone , incredibly annoying ringers going off from multiple phones, some very loud voices . It’s a tiny place with close tables so hear everything. It has lovely lighting from beautiful lamps and is nicely decorated. I just wish some of the customers more considerate .“

“Ok, this was a completely unexpected treat. The menu has variations on Kofta Kabab, Kabab Grill, Gyro, Felafel and Shawarma. Basically a sandwich, plate or salad presentation for each. There's also a small selection of desserts, and now I'm regretting that I didn't try at least one! I had the Gyro Salad. It's listed as including 5 ounces of meat, but it seemed to me to be noticably more than that, and the greens were fresh. Every bite was delicious. My companion had the Kofta Kabab plate, and liked it all but said it was more than she could eat. I told her I'd try to make up for her failure by finishing hers too, and I'm glad I did. ;)
The folks behind the counter were helpful and efficient, and the food was hot, fresh, and brought to our table more quickly than I expected. I loved the food and the place, and would welcome an opportunity to try something else there soon.“

“This place was honestly amazing. I ordered from Jafra four days in a row during Ramadan. Fun fact: Jafra is actually the name of a city in Syria. Everything I tried was so good, from the gyro to the shawarma plate. After seeing me order so many times, they even gave me a free donut. Great food and really kind people. Definitely recommend.They tie bags well and food remains so warm.“

We started with the soft-ripened Murciana goat cheese and house made preserves, the star of the night was their roasted beets and citrus salad, the Andaluca paella simply delicious and the flavors of the preserved lemon chicken transported us to the Mediterranean! The perfect food after a night out.
I had the lamb shawarma, about ten bucks, it does the job. I lamb is tender almost perfect.
The only thing I would add would be a pinch of sour. Maybe a little tanginess. But it still hit the spot.
