“This is a case of don't judge a book by its cover. Most small bars are known just for the drinks and cheap beer, but this place was awesome. Buffalo cauliflower bites were amazing, pizza was excellent, wings were bomb, and fries were cooked perfectly.“

“Small bar located inside of a power sports store. They have really good lunch specials & breakfast every Sunday. They are PACKED for breakfast, so get there early to get faster service! The portion sizes are very big and you always get to take home left overs! The prices also cannot be beat, but make sure to bring cash. They do not accept any cards.“

“I had the Jumbo Shrimp on Friday night and it was the best shrimp that I have had for a long time - and I love shrimp! The breading was crunchy and the shrimp was perfectly cooked. The Hash Browns with cheese and onions were also perfectly cooked- crispy edges with tender shreds and covered with real cheese, not greasy at all. My husband loves their fish but he is a man of few words so I can't give you a description. We recently discovered Twisted Vines and it is my favorite place now. Did I mention the Salad Bar? Very good!“

Really awesome food by reputation, we were too late and kitchen was closed. Where else will you get a frosted mug for your beer or a chilled glass with partial shaved ice and a straw, making every highball oh so easily drinkable? Great atmosphere if you're looking for old Midwestern charm and character.“

“The Walnut is one of my favorite bars of all time. It was super close to campus and they have cheaper drinks than places downtown. Unfortunately they don't have food, but they do have snacks! They have an amazing drink called a crusher, is a must have if you are stopping in to visit! I'm the back room you can see pictures of everyone who has made a memory at this place! Every time I go back to Dubuque, The Walnut is one of my stops I always make.“

“Me and a co worker were talking how we have been driving by this place for 25 years, going between Madison and Des Moines. We both thought, "I'd like to stop in there once." Well we had a work meeting in DBQ, and decidedly to go visit. Were not disappointed. Seems like a great neighborhood bar. Weeknight and there were people from 21 to 65+ in there.
