Have not been to Perkins for awhile, but they always had the best lite buttermilk pancakes. Sunday went there and the pancakes were totally different. The cakes were thick cakey and disgusting crumbled apart . Nothing like the thin lite pancakes they used to make. Just lost my breakfast business. Sad when changes are made to the detriment of a business
Whenever we're in Madison area, we go there and LOVE EVERYTHING-THE FOOD AND SERVICE IS WONDERFUL!
I always get the classic roast beef but this time it had a lot of fat and tasted 'old'.

Perkins Restaurant & Bakery receives mixed reviews from customers. Some longtime guests have been disappointed by changes, noting that the lite buttermilk pancakes are now thick, cakey, and crumble apart, which is nothing like the thin lite pancakes they used to make. Another customer ordered rainbow pancakes through Uber Eats but received blueberry pancakes instead, and most toppings were forgotten, with bacon given that could not be eaten. On a positive note, one guest enjoyed free food for a birthday and considers Perkins one of their favorite stops for breakfast/brunch in Madison. A family who visited recently found the experience just fine, with super polite staff and a very helpful waitress. Their order included Belgian waffle with bacon and eggs, hot chocolate, iced coffee, eggs Benedict, everything omelet with hash browns and fruit, a kids cheeseburger meal, and blueberry muffins. They noted the food tasted as it always does—midrange food with large portions. Another customer loves the banana crème pie, apple pie, and cheesecake, and found the brownies and apple cinnamon mammoth muffin delicious. One guest was helped by a staff member to secure seasonal pumpkin donut muffins, which were a hit.
