“We had heard good things about Lallande and we were not disappointed. We ate at the bar which I would highly recommend. Our server was Nina and she made the evening fun. I had the salmon and my husband had the lamb chops. Generous portions and absolutely delicious. We also had the chicken pate which was so good. But the highlight for us was the carrot tarte. A must have, if you go.The owner Ann Marie was working in the kitchen keeping all the balls in the air, but she took time to visit with us and made us feel extra welcome. Do yourself a favor and dine at Lallande on Monroe St. Perhaps we'll see you there because we'll be back! Five stars.“

“This cafe has many delicious options for food. It however does not have celiac safe options. The cross contamination is too high. They do note this if you call them by stating that they can't guarantee there isn't. But I would not eat here if you have celiacs because I did twice and it made me incredibly sick. Again the food in my opinion is delicious, it just isn't celiacs safe.“

“did not have a good experience today at la michoacana. when ordering my papas preparadas I told the lady i wanted the cueritos on the side. when the bag was given to me i noticed she had put them in. I told her and she said that she had forgot and did say sorry but what made me very upset was that she said that they were very busy and she couldn't make them again . I'm sorry but the way she did things was wrong and it's not my fault that she wasn't paying attention to what she was doing. Please pay more attention to who your serving and not how many people are in line. I love going to this place but the way things were handled was not ok.“

“I've been coming here since I was a child, it has always been such a solid place to go to and the owners are wonderful people.

It is interesting to me reading some of these other reviews. Ive noticed customers being rude to the owners and selfish in peculiar ways that seem against normal interaction. The people working here are people. Its Chinese, there are vegetables. I am a bit tired of these types of reviews I am seeing under some restaurants.“

“Very good burgers, fries and shakes also very good. Only complaint is cost like everything these days. About $20 a person for a specialty burger, fries,and a shake. They do have a $10 special going right now but it was a small 🍔 burger,small fries,and a small soda. Not bad if you are good with a smaller portion. “Clean restaurant. Restrooms very clean. Nice, hip, music playing, but not too loud. The food was ok. I had chicken strips and fries, and they were ok. We shared cheese curds, and they were phenomenal! The staff was very friendly, and we were given a small discount. They also had big salads, pasta dishes, specialty pizzas, and desserts. “This restaurant, Sunny Pho, has nice prices, kind service, making me enjoy my visit!

My friend and I ordered the goi cuon, cha gio, pho dac biet (mine regular and his large), Thai iced green tea, and ca phe sua da. The goi cuon and cha gio both have outsides that taste soft and crunchy, respectively, with the insides having filling that tastes fresh and full of flavor. The dipping sauces included for each are flavorful and are wonderfully prepared. The pho, both his and mine, have meat that’s tender, noodles that are just the right type and texture, and a broth that feels fresh and light. The side of lime, beansprouts, and basil they provide with the pho tastes equally fresh and full of flavor. The ca phe sua da, presented like a drink you order at a bubble tea shop, has a wonderful blend of coffee and sugar.

The service is mostly nice. Our food came pretty quickly. I appreciate how I was immediately greeted when I walked in. The restaurant gets bonus points from me, as they messed up my friend’s Thai iced green tea and accidentally gave him Thai iced coffee, but they were quick to realize their mistake and gave him what he ordered without charging him extra or taking back the wrong drink (correcting a wrong order without inconveniencing the customer always gives a restaurant a win, in my book). This restaurant seems to be one where you pay up front after they give you your bill, as no worker ever came to our table after giving us the bill, which wasn’t split at all. However, I must note, their bathrooms have an absolutely rancid smell, even noticeable a few steps before you even open the door. Many parks have nicer smelling bathrooms than this restaurant’s bathroom. Just be careful not to use the restroom here or make sure to hold your nose while going. I didn’t bring this up during my visit, but I hope they’re aware of this and looking to fix things.

All in all, this was a restaurant I passed by somewhat often years ago, when I was still a law school student at UW-Madison. I was a bit reluctant to try it out then, since the menu didn’t seem the most authentic, as it’s a Vietnamese restaurant with many Thai dishes, but the food tastes fresh and authentic plus the workers are nice and friendly. Out of all the Vietnamese restaurants I’ve visited in Dane County/South Central Wisconsin, at least as of June 2026, this restaurant’s certainly the one where you get the best value and I can safely recommend it and safely come back again (even though they got to fix their restroom’s putrid smell)!“

“The waiter mom and I had was so go good to us. But most of all he was kind and funny at the same time. My mom's 96 and still with it , she was having fun going right back with a coment. Or when he walked away she'd say OH I should of said this...... then her and I would laugh about it. This is my go to pick me up when I'm feeling down. Staff is friendly. Burritos are well-mixed and reasonably priced. And the tortillas are SO good I often order an extra tortilla just cause i can't get enough of them“

​We ordered the duck, and we absolutely loved it. It came with scallions, cucumber, perfectly seasoned shredded meat, and golden, crispy duck. With this dish and two sides of rice, it was more than enough for the four of us. The atmosphere is incredibly quiet and relaxing. I didn’t know that there was a hockey game that night so it was quite busy but our server was very nice and accommodating despite how many tables he had. And 3 of us were almost done eating before the 4th person got their meal. The servers are just all over the place. I get the concept of everyone helping everyone out but the execution is very poor.
