“Perfect spot for a date night! We were drawn to this place for many reasons. From the history and atmosphere to the limited days/hours of service, we knew we were in for a treat. Service was consistent from the moment we arrived.
Chef James Hillen rivals some of the top Chefs that we have dined with. The food was FANTASTIC! Our steaks were flavorful and cooked to perfection with an exceptional sear.
The garlic mashed potatoes were perfectly seasoned and prepared. The homemade mac and cheese was creamy with the perfect crust on top. The salad was a good portion size and tasted like it was freshly chopped and prepared.
The asparagus was cooked to perfection and perfectly seasoned. The crème brûlée was balanced and creamy with a delicious hardened caramelized sugar layer.
We can't brag on this place enough and definitely recommend this restaurant. This is a place we will dine at again!”

“Allow me to gush about this place for a bit because it's become a staple of my Huntington experience. I haven't had a single bad meal here. The Kale Caesar! is one filling salad, y'all. Great dressing, add some yummy grilled chicken, and you're filled up and satisfied. Seared Tuna Salad is off the CHAIN. Perfect acidity in the dressing, and the combination of that tuna and the sharp/sweet pineapple is so nice. The duck fat fries are perfectly crisp and flavorful on their own, and I always get the harissa aioli for dipping. It's sweet with the tiniest bit of delicious almost-spice. The Brat Burger is the definition of savory. I'm not a kraut fan, so I got it without, but that brat patty is tender and juicy, the mustard has the right amount of bite to it, and the caramelized onions are sweet and velvety. The Brass Monkey is the only thing I've ever not been over the moon about, but that's totally a matter of personal taste. The Thai peanut sauce on it was absolutely delicious, but I'd just maybe ask for lighter on the cream cheese next time. The Californication (minus the black bean corn pico because corn mixed into other stuff is texturally challenging for me) was another savory, almost smoky delight. That runny egg just sauces it all up once you bite into it. I saved my all time favorite for last, which is the Ay Caramba. Y'ALL. For me, it's like the ultimate burger. The patty itself has just the right amount of pink in the middle, the chorizo melted in with the pepper jack cheese punches you right in the mouth with flavor, and the blistered jalapeno with the cilantro and spicy kewpie mayo crowning the glory all combines for the perfect spicy, flavorful kick! Bar tender (sorry bro I don't know your name!) is top notch and gives honest, informed advice on foods and is super friendly and cool and welcoming. Also, Boogercat Brown Ale is one of my absolute favorite brown ales of all time. LOVE The Peddler!”

The delectable taste of the food, the warm and friendly atmosphere, and the cheerful staff are all aspects that separate this foodery from many others. There is one kindness that the workers at Guthries do that is quite unique: they leave thoughtful and encouraging messages on the rims of each cup purchased.

I often have forgotten about this kind act by the time I visit the location again. However, the last message I received warmed my heart and spurred me to leave this review. I was going to see friends and play games when one of my companions decided to procure us our bounty at the local Guthries. I was about halfway through my box when I recalled the message that was surely to be written upon the top of my drink. It was these words that have forever changed my life.

On my brother in Christ's cup was written “Dream big”—a statement which, in fact, does accurately describe him. This message only deepened the anticipation for my own gift. This was the message: “Keep dreams.”

Perhaps you are thinking, “Author, did you by chance mean to write ‘Keep dreaming’?” Nay. Nay, dear reader. The message read “Keep dreams.” My life has been forever changed by these words.

I can only say thank you to the noble scribe who chose to impart this sage wisdom upon me, a lowly patron. My dreams have been stored—kept in a special place where few have dared to tread. “We always enjoy Waffle House. Breakfast is our to go food. There are two waffle Houses in our area. I like both but the one on 29th street in Huntington WV is my favorite. There is a young waitress there. I think her name is Shanti but I’m not positive. I have a 13 year old grandson who has had trouble with bullying and has difficulties with making friends. She teases him and is extra friendly to him. She calls him Mr. Long Hair because he like a lot of teenage boys has long hair. He loves going to Waffle House and his mental attitude has changed so much. We are very appreciative of her. She is what Waffle House is. Going home where you feel comfortable and eating a good meal with family and friends.”

“We had a great time at Roosters. With a table of 16 people, they were able to get us seated in less than 30 minutes to accommodate our group. Our waitress was Cam, she killed it! She gave us the vip treatment. The food was amazing and the prices were even better. I highly recommend the roosters nest fries and the fried pickles to start your dinner with your friends and family. I'm so glad we stopped here on our weekend trip. This restaurant is great for a date night, family dinner with or without little ones, and great for large groups of 16. Management clearly knows what they are doing. The bar, the kitchen, hostess and weight staff are all trained extremely well staffed to handle the influx of hungry people. 10 out of 10 highly recommend!!”

I exit off the highway and head towards the steak n shake since it's been 10 years since I last ate at one. Oue hostess took our order and was as pleasant as a southern woman can be. Also if I were putting the sandwich together I would recommend putting the coleslaw on top of the chicken because it seeps through the bottom bun and makes it impossible to grab without falling through. But I definitely want to come back and try every sandwich there.. that sandwich wasn’t for me but others would probably enjoy it. Food prep time is a little slower than the burger place, but well worth a minute or so wait. The sandwiches can be served as a wrap rather than in a sandwich bun. My favorite is the roast turkey, ranch dressing, and bacon wrap.”

I had a fluke with Maiya's cake that she wanted yesterday, someone else was supposed to order it but didn't and I didn't find out until 3:00 p.m. ... I wanted to pick the cake up by 4:30 p.m. I just KNEW I was going to have to get her a different design. She would have been fine but she wanted this specific one. I called the store and the young lady that answered knew she couldn't promise to help without approval so she put the owner on. I explained what happened and how I know it might not be possible but turning 13 is important for a girl so if they can make this cake by 4:30 I would even pay extra. Not only did he not hesitate to help in every way, but he took my cake order and promised it would be done by the time I got off work, all while being busy as all heck on a 70 degree day in February. He even made jokes about the weather and being so busy. There was a stress in his voice but you could tell it was a good bit of stress that he handled perfectly. It really isn't common for most places to go out of their way for customers these days. They are sticklers to the guidelines, which is understandable. Normally a special design like the tye-dye pooh emoji needs to be ordered at least 24 prior to pick up... they helped me out in a pinch and it was done and ready to be written on by the time I walked up to their front counter. They had no problem helping me out at all and it really made my baby girl's day.”

“I visited Dairy Queen and only tried their desserts. I ordered a soft-serve ice cream and a Banana Split, and it turned out to be an amazing experience. The ice cream was incredibly creamy, smooth, and pleasantly sweet — definitely not icy or artificial tasting. The Banana Split was perfectly made, with fresh fruit and well-balanced toppings that didn’t overpower the flavor. Honestly, it’s one of the best ice creams I’ve ever had. The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff was friendly. Overall, it’s a great place to satisfy a sweet craving and enjoy a really good treat.
