“You can definitely tell a family runs this. I love seeing that dynamic when I get my food. For Kings I’m usually at the Shepherdstown but the Martinsburg Kings never disappoints in their food. Might be just a little better than the Shepherdstown one.“

“Having lived in Westchester County, New York, for several years, I like to think I’ve developed a pretty good sense of what authentic New York pizza should look and taste like. And let me tell you, Giovanni’s NY Pizza did not disappoint!

What an unexpected gem to discover in the middle of West Virginia! The restaurant is run by a former Marine, and we were personally greeted by the owner, who prepared a fresh pizza right in front of us, complete with a delicious assortment of toppings.

Oh my, was it good! So good, in fact, that we ended up ordering two more pies to take home!

Everything about this pizza reminded me of what I loved about New York pizza. The crust had that perfect crunch on the outside while remaining soft and airy on the inside, with a wonderful hint of olive oil. The tomato sauce was rich, beautifully seasoned, and bursting with flavor, complemented by delicious mozzarella melted to perfection. Every bite was a reminder of how good a properly made New York pizza can be.

And here’s what impressed me even more. When we got home, we reheated the extra pizzas slowly in the oven, taking our time to bring them back to temperature. They hadn’t lost a thing! The crust was still wonderful, the flavors just as vibrant, and the cheese just as delicious. They tasted almost every bit as good as they had fresh out of Giovanni’s oven. Now that’s the sign of a pizza made right!

And the value? Almost unbelievable! Less than ten dollars for two generously sized slices, made fresh to order, and a drink. These days, finding that combination of quality, authenticity, and affordability is a rarity.

Giovanni’s is proof that you don’t have to be in New York to enjoy a fantastic New York-style pizza. Great food, genuine hospitality, and exceptional value. We came in expecting a quick bite and left with two extra pizzas and a new favorite spot.

“Very simple little Chinese buffet, and the pricing was very very nice. Under 10$ for the lunch buffet. I would recommend them to those who need a bite to eat. “Had iced latte and cheese Danish. The coffee was good. The Danish was not very fresh. I asked to have it heated with specific instructions to only microwave for 10 seconds. This was done and the Danish was gently warmed so it was not tough. I would prefer heating in a toaster oven, but this is, apparently, an unknown technique.
Atmosphere is very nice and the staff are friendly. Not a lot of selection for pastries.“

Update 2/23/2024: This has always been my family's go-to restaurant when we crave Mexican or want a good quick meal. However, our last visit was very disappointing. We were seated quickly with chips & salsa and got drinks right away. But, the waitress never came back to take out lour food order. We sat there with our menus at the end of the table and watched servers walk by many times and even wait on people that came in after us. Our waitress stopped at a table by us and just chatted but still never came back to us. After 25 minutes, we got up and left. Had a great meal and service at the Mexican restaurant around the corner.

“After a disappointing visit with Outback Steakhouse, we were greeted and seated promptly on arrival by the hostess. Our server Aniya was there to get our drink order as we just finished sitting down. We ordered our drinks and mozzarella cheese sticks to start. My wife ordered the 8 Oz sirloin with mashed potatoes and the 4 cheese macaroni. My daughter ordered the bacon ranch chicken sandwich with the 4 cheese macaroni. I ordered the Bourbon Street steak and the 4 cheese macaroni. Everything was delicious. Aniya was prompt with refills and checked on us during our experience at just the right interval. “Been wanting to sing this places praises for a couple of weeks now and im finally able to. So I ordered some wings and it was in a busy football Sunday people in and out. I knew there would be a wait. Walked in and was acknowledged. And I can tell a manager was working the line with fellow employees. She communicated with just about everyone in there giving them expected times, and I love your new system up on the wall and it sort of tells you where in the process they are. That’s a huge home run!! She personally asked me my name and got right on it. She even apologized and gave me some extras which she didn’t need to do.
In this business it’s all about communication and to acknowledge someone. I used to run area restaurnats in my 20’s and early 30’s. So great job. Will be back.“
