“Alekos was absolutely fantastic! The food was delicious and every bite was full of flavor. The drinks were phenomenal — truly some of the best crafted cocktails I’ve had in a while. They’re top-notch, perfectly balanced, and not overly sweet like so many places tend to make them. A special shoutout to Liz the bartender, who was amazing! She was friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly takes pride in what she creates behind the bar. Her cocktails were spot-on and elevated the entire experience. If you’re looking for great food, expertly made drinks, and excellent service, Alekos is definitely worth a visit. We’ll absolutely be back!“

“We've eaten there before. This was a take-out. We got there early. Our order was not ready, which I appreciated. (would have been cold had I been on time) Everything was very well packaged and brought up exactly on time. The stuff portobello was excellent as always. The angel hair pasta with garlic wine sauce and spinach was a bit bland, corrected with salt. The strawberry salmon salad would have been excellent if the salmon wasn't overdone. It was still very good. We did not care for the crab soup. 2 very nice side salads and yummy bread. Large portions. One of the servers offered us water while we waited which was very nice.“

“I fell in love with hard ciders in the 2000s in England. I dont mean the commercial stuff at the city sports bars. I mean the hazy, profoundly complex brews that are naturally fermented found at rural pubs. Those are truly flavorful bevies with tannins and astringency - swirling with earthy and herbal notes and deeply fruity aromas cut with satisfying vinous tartness. The aftertaste just goes on forever. And each of these ciders were unique with their own strong personalities. After returning to the US, I was unable to find this kind of cider, despite visiting as many as i could find in california, virginia and various atlantic coastal regions. Today i found it again here! The first sip brought tears to my eyes. This is true cider! i could keep writing but it cannot capture the magical liquid Eric captures in his bottles! Also, please dont review if you have already made up your mind that cider should only taste like angry orchard, strong bow or bold rock. These ciders are categorically different from those; as different as coors is from belgian lambics.“

“Long post ahead, warning! I walked in around 9 pm and the hostess didn't bat an eye at my dining alone, and didn't say anything about it, which I appreciate. I was seated right away with no problems and immediately got a chance to look over the menu. I will admit, it took a little bit longer than expected for my waiter to come over, but as a lone diner I sort of expected that. I looked like I was waiting for someone, I'm sure. The look and feel of the place was very upscale, but they didn't have any problems with me walking in wearing a nerdy t-shirt. I was seated in this cute little booth for 2 with curtains on the side so, if I wanted a more private dinner, I could have it. It was a cute touch! The restaurant also offered patio dining and since it's by the creek, that would have been a downright charming experience were it not the usual Maryland summer. Despite having a bar, the restaurant was respectably quiet and low-key, making it an easy dining experience. I wasn't in the mood for something wild, and this place really hit the nail on the head. My first waiter Kevin, however, was the picture of polite helpfulness. He answered all of my questions, made some wonderful suggestions, and was incredibly pleasant to talk to. I was delighted to find out that this place takes part in DC restaurant week, so I was able to take part in that promotion. Under a suggestion from Kevin, I ordered a glass of their moscato (I wanted something light and sweet), and the wine was so good I brought home a whole bottle. Not really on them, but it does reflect their excellent selection. Dinner itself was delicious. The red pepper soup was refreshing and flavorful, without being too filling. The steak I ordered was cooked to perfection and was flavored in the perfect way to make the actual flavor of the meat shine. The potatoes were both light and fluffy, but also had the little chunks of potato that I prefer in my mashed. The best part was desert. About halfway through my appetizer, Kevin introduced my other waiter, Maddy, who took over after he went home. She was as much of a delight as he was, and made possibly the best recommendation of the night. Desert was this blackberry tart that I did not have room for but could not put down. Gooey and crumbly all at once, with a warm center that was almost caramel-y even though it was fruit based. Topped with a light cream to balance it all out, it was absolutely delicious. I will be thinking of that tart all day tomorrow. The prices on the menu were a little high, but I wouldn't go so far to say they were unreasonable. If I had wanted a cheaper option, I could have gone to any chain restaurant ever. In the grand scheme of downtown Frederick, with it's many small businesses and one of a kind dining experiences, I think this was reasonable. For reference, a lot of meals were between $20 and $30, but a good steak is almost always $30+. Despite the price, I had an exceptional dining experience, and would 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for upscale dining, without the upscale requirements.“

“This will be more of a staff review than the Vineyard itself. This past weekend we attended the “End Of Summer Bash” as we do every year. An awesome day turned into a problematic evening as somehow we managed to lock our keys, both cell phones and the rest of our “lives” inside our vehicle.
As the crowd was leaving and the Big Cork Team was starting to clean up after a LONG day, I walked inside to look for some kind, any kind, of help. Jennifer was working at the main counter inside and instantly started searching for an answer to our problem….again, OUR problem. She offered us the use of her personal vehicle to drive home and get our extra set of keys. I told her that we lived 45 minutes from the Vineyard and therefore would be 1 1/2 hours until I returned! “No problem” was the response. Keep in mind she had no idea who we were….we drove her almost new vehicle to Greencastle, PA and back. I don’t know how many people would have done the same but my bet is not many!
Thanks to the hard working staff at Big Cork for a great day, especially Jennifer, you’re kindness is something that we rarely experience these days!

“As four guests visiting for the first time, we all thought the food was great. Service was slow to order a beer and desert was almost cancelled because of time and the glazing did not arrive with one of the deserts and getting a side cup never arrived. The waitress was new and very helpful and will get better with experience. The only disappointment was their Military Discount? They only allow 10% for "active" Military making one feel that veterans just don't qualify? And the 10% you receive is only on the members main meal. So for a $60.61 meal the discount was $1.49? I give the discount I receive back to the wait staff and left a $15.00 tip.“

•Takoyaki, crispy light fried exterior, steaming hot mashed interior with prominent chunks of octopus. Nice sauce pairings - a reddish mayo one with slight tang and spice, a dark brown umami oyster sauce-like one
•Teriyaki chicken bao bun, as expected with moist tender steamed bun, sesame and scallion garnished chicken. A bit liberal with the sauces though, running down the crease.
•Short rib potato and mushroom Asian tapas, very tender cut thinly sliced beef, savory wild mushrooms, not the usual button, salt and pepper potato wedges.“

There is nothing better than the smell of smoked BBQ filling the air. Ample parking, and I love the location. The food is fantastic! I had the potato salad, sweet potatoes, and 2 meats (Arkansas Brisket which are burnt tips and Hot Links). The platter comes with pickled onions, pickles, and cornbread. It did not disappoint. Plus the original BBQ which comes with it, had an interesting flavor. Sweet and vinegary, with a little heat, which was nice. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for some good BBQ.“
