“At the st. Catharine’s location at the Pen Center. I’m here with my daughter. Had the wings and fries and the dessert Divide and conquer Belgian Waffle! The service is amazing but it’s a large place so we did approach the counter right away. It’s beautiful and clean. So many delicious things on the menu to choose! I highly recommend it!“

“The Columbian - Mill Creek is a very nice, comfortable coffee shop near the Mill Creek Ravine. Perfect for a stop when going for a walk. The south/west exposure makes both the inside bright and airy and the outside a pleasant place to sit on one of the many picnic tables.“

“Going to the Whistling Kettle Cafe is like stepping into a time capsule, where no nonsense eateries ruled the land.

They make great food at affordable prices. Staff were quick and excellent. Judging by the lack of empty tables I can see why it's a staple amongst locals in the northeast. Worth a visit.“

“I highly recommend Cookie Love. Their staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. I was very impressed with their large selection of cookies. I bought a couple of dozen cookies for my staff party which was a big hit. My favourite cookie was their gluten free chocolate chip cookie. If you get a chance Cookie Love is worth trying and worth your money.“

“I love coming to this cafe. Whether I decide to have food from their kitchen, a ready to go pastry, or a drink, I know that it's going to be made with care. It gets a little busy around lunch, I wish it was bigger, but it's a wonderful space. The staff are amazing, and it's fun to chat with them when they're less busy. When I am not sure what I want, staff are eager to make suggestions, and I have never been disappointed. Lattes are $5, hard to find lattes for that price in this neighbourhood. Somewhat higher prices, but good-sized servings to match.Only two tables, and chairs at the bar but the manager introduces people to each other and they can sit together. I have met a lot of people here.Favourites are the soups and wraps.Try the tuxedo cookies- a real treat!“

“It’s just a small place with big vibes. There is climbing walls right beside the cafe part. The hot chocolate was like the old fashioned type, where you can actually have a wonderful smooth drink. Big yum. So yeah I will be back there. By the way, the scone beside the hot chocolate was also delicious. So tender and buttery. With egg and ham.“

“This is a truly magical place, warm, welcoming, and full of good energy.

Back in May 2022, I came to this city with my husband while he was attending a conference(Amii). During that time, I spent several days studying here at Second Cup, preparing for my job interview.

On the first day, I was simply a quiet customer. I ordered a coffee and breakfast and studied for a while. On the second day, I had a brief conversation with the owners when I asked for the restroom key. By the third day, they already recognized me. When I ordered, they smiled and asked if I was here to study again. I told them yes, that I was looking for a job.

Not long after that conversation, I received a job offer with a 20 percent salary increase. I was overjoyed, and in my heart, this café became a place of luck and kindness for me. To share my gratitude and happiness, I left a 30 dollar tip that day.

Three years later, I am once again looking for a job. I am now far away in Ontario, sitting in a different café, but this place came back to my mind. I wanted to leave this message for the Second Cup that once brought me comfort and good fortune, hoping that luck will find me again.

I miss the warmth and kindness here. Wishing this café continued success, and wishing the owners all the very best.“
