“Visited Alaska for the first time this month and glad we stopped by Kinley's for dinner. Well, we made a reservation and I see why after eating there. Fantastic fish- we had halibut and rockfish, great sides, prompt and friendly service, and a chef even stopped by our table to check in and I got a little lesson in halibut selection/prep which was awesome! This place makes you want to include another visit to Anchorage in your future for the sole (argh) purpose of dining here. Not to mention the price to value ratio is totally fair and actually amazing after hearing horror stories about Alaska pricing- beats the lower 48 all day long for this, as well as taste and quality.“

“I thoroughly enjoyed our time at Hearth. The staff were kind, attentive, and provided great recommendations. The beet salad was delightfully unique and a fun sweet and earthy summer dish. We had the sweet Carmela pizza which was loaded up with yummy toppings with artisan crust. The chocolate torte was divine and unfortunately not pictured because we dug into too quickly ☺️“

“My recent dining experience at Fletcher Restaurant in Anchorage, Alaska, was really pleasant. From start to finish, every dish surpassed expectations, showcasing the best of Alaskan seafood cuisine. The seafood chowder was a highlight, bursting with flavors and packed with fresh ingredients. Each spoonful was a delight, offering a smooth and flavorful experience that left me craving for more. The smeared Alaskan halibut was a true masterpiece. Cooked to perfection with just the right amount of seasoning, it showcased the natural freshness and sweetness of the seafood. A testament to the chef's skill and dedication to quality ingredients. And let's not forget the fresh oysters, a true delight for any oyster lover. Served with their secret sauce, they were incredibly fresh, sweet, and absolutely irresistible. I could have easily indulged in more of these exquisite starters. The attentive service staff added to the overall dining experience. Despite a full house, they managed to serve our food promptly. However, the only downside is, the waiter is overly attentive, giving us the vibes that he is trying to chase us away.Overall, Fletcher Restaurant is not a bad place for dinning. If the waiter hasn't been so "pushy", it will be a pretty awesome dinner experience.“

“Local place with great food. Local next to me suggested substituting may and jalapeños for the tartar sauce and soup for the fries with the halibut. Said it would change my life. I do feel a little bit taller. ?Note: this is a seat yourself place. Don't do like we did- stand there and watch locals come in and take the empty seats.“

Bear Tooth Theatrepub Pizza • $$
1230 W 27th Ave, Anchorage

“We enjoy bears tooth, but we don't go there too often for the movies now. Their movie selections don't tend to lean family friendly or mainstream. They show a lot of indie films. We don't often go to the movies there anymore, especially since they've raised their prices. But we do love eating at the restaurant downstairs. You can just sit yourself and then order at the cashier. They get the food out pretty fast. It's a small little section, but the food's great. It's nice to not have to wait forever like at moose's tooth to get a seat.We almost exclusively go to bears tooth for food instead of moose's tooth. I do wish bears tooth would have more family friendly films, we would go there more often to watch movies and eat pizza. The place does get pretty busy too at times so it can be a little hectic at times. But we highly recommend going to bears tooth. We love the amazing apricots, my daughter loves the pizza that's caribou something, and my son loves the mac and cheese pizza.Update Jan 2024:Bears Tooth changed their restrooms all to unisex, but they are multi person use. My daughter went to the restroom and saw men at the urinals and it was really uncomfortable and awkward for her. I don't mind unisex single restrooms, but multi use multi sex bathrooms is just awkward for a lot of people. My husband doesn't want to be urinating and have a little girl walk in and my daughter doesn't want to be alone with strange men. This is really a weird decision that they purposely changed and put money into. We won't be going there much more. If I can't feel comfortable sending my children to the restroom and as and adult I don't want that their.“

“Excellent sandwiches and soup. Be careful with takeout, as some of the food doesn't travel well. This is common with a lot of foods - not the restaurant - so don't let it keep you from ordering to go. This is an American business with American values. No woke BS here.“

“Sometimes, it can be a challenge to find a good spot with fresh salads and soups that didn't come from a bag or a mix, and this is it. Panini and grilled cheeses are perfect whether you want classic or something a bit more interesting. They have both. The Hungarian mushroom soup was a little too oniony for me, but I would still order it again next time. My pesto mozzarella panini came with a little dipping cup of tomato basil soup. That was an unexpected surprise.Didn't try the pizza or other sandwiches, but I expect they are the same quality. Great tap selection and friendly service rounds it out and makes for my new favorite lunch spot in Anchorage. I'll be back every time I visit town.“

Chilkoot Charlie's Bars • $
2435 Spenard Rd, Anchorage

“Known as Chilkoot Charlie's when I grew up here, the sign remains the same! Perhaps the 'creator'... NM, just inquired with the bartender it's known still by both names. Tonight is a very reasonable Mystery Beer on Tap (1 of 3 locals from the Alaskan Brewing Company). I was told ahead of time it's the Icy Bay IPA so not so much of a mystery ha ha. Friendly crowd of 9 at 7:10p if you are also friendly. Security guard came in at 7p. This was 'the bar' growing up that I was too young to patron. I left to attend ASU at 19. Darker lightning - real wood and 3 equally separate screens playing MNF. John Cougar Melancamp on the juke. Poker, live stage, arcade n food. Nice.“

Buckaroo club Bar • $
2819 Spenard Rd, Anchorage

“Outoftowners finding non-tourist bars. Saturday night at 7pm (hey it gets pitch black dark at 430 in late Fall) the bar looks dead, like not even open, from the main street, but apparently they like using the back door around here, the rear parking lot is a decent size. The vodka and Cranberry is mostly vodka, which isn't a bad thing, and most of the beers on tap are of the local brews. So far we are digging the vibe, and over hearing stories from locals is quite entertaining. More to follow.“

“Good food and good atmosphere. Unfortunately today when we went for lunch and some irresponsible bicycle rider blocked the handicap ramp. When the bartender was notified nothing changed. Our daughter on crutches had to work around the bicycle. This is totally NOT acceptable at all. The handicap ramp needs to to free of all obstacle. Totally unsatisfactory.“

W xyz Lounge Bar •

“The most generous, fun, witty, lady bar tender I think from California and been at XYZ for around 20 years. She even stayed a little later to accommodate 3 of us still wanting last minute drinks and since I missed my flight I was stuck until 4am at the Aloft with no reservation and she made me an extra special drink of her own design... I'll always remember the best service and I'm actually NOT a drinker but the dried fruit addiction made it like a meal!! I absolutely loved it and will try drinking more with dried fruits!!“
