On August 27th 2025 This Brandi and Tracey duo somehow made this trip completely different than the last pleasant review. They simply took a 5 star rating and made it a 10. I'm not trying to sound cliche at all, but for the very few times I've came in, they remember me like a long time friend you haven't seen in years. There's service and to be serviced. While be serviced, though there was no wait, you wouldn't even acknowledge the wait due to such a genuine, comfortable, warm felt environment! “Ordered take out via Uber Eats, so expected some minor issues. Not hot - no biggie. What I ordered was burger & fries with jalapeño poppers. The poppers were good. Bigger than I expected but tasty. The burger wasn’t really bad, but it was missing mayo and onions - well, see pic. I did have to specifically request the mayo because I also didn’t want tomatoes or pickles. So I’ll try again - maybe better next time.

“We went today February 13th for Valentine's and Anniversary date. There were plenty of tables and several servers but we were told there would be a 15 minute wait. There were probably 10 to 12 people waiting right inside the door. The Asst. Manager came from the kitchen and started seating people. There was a large birthday party and I guess that is what had the kitchen behind. But Tiara, the bartender, was great!! She was waiting on and serving the tables in the bar area like a Queen! Food was just ok. But she was great!“

Kid-friendliness: Kids should be band from waffle house. Too much running loose, screaming, and crying. Hard to enjoy your dining experience with all that going on.“

“Started out with crawfish eggrolls and spicy chicken wings. Both were delicious. Dinner plate consisted of fish and chips, macaroni cheese and a salad. Everything was wonderful. Throw in two long island teas and it doesn't get any better.“

“We came for dinner Friday night, and it was busy. The parking lot was full, so I immediately got in the waiting list online as we were trying to find a parking space. This system worked well, we got a text message about 10 minutes after arrival that our seat was ready. The highlight was the quality of the food, minus my husband's steak being overcooked. The spinach dip appetizer with pita chips was excellent - I would have been happy having that as my entree. Salads were cold and freshly made, and the vegetables were freshly cut. I had the 12pc Red Rock shrimp entree with Brussels sprouts. The Brussels sprouts were nice and crispy and had a sweet/buttery drizzle of something on top. The shrimp were nicely cooked and well seasoned. My husband had a sirloin and shrimp combo - he did get a little cup of a butter dipping sauce for his shrimp, which evidently was missed on my plate. His side item was the macaroni and cheese, it was creamy and had tons of bacon bits inside. Kid #1 had kids chicken fingers with fries, kid #2 had an adult hamburger and fries. Everything was great. One tiny thing was there was zero bussing of dishes through the meal. I know they were busy, but we ended up stacking up all of our bread plates, salad bowls and appetizer plates and had them sitting on the table the entire time we were there.“

“The Decatur, AL Waffle House is the best one I’ve ever visited. I was a frequent flyer and they had my order memorized and would put it in for me right when I walked in the door. I’d normally be in and out in 25 minutes. Super friendly staff!“

“First of all, I would like to say that I have been in the restaurant business for over 30 years. I have a culinary degree and I know food and I know both front an back of the house very well. When I first moved here to Decatur about a year ago I was very happy that there was a Captain D’s in my area. I went inside because I had a little time to spare. My first reaction was the floor was absolutely disgusting and there were three employees sitting down in the customer area playing on their phones while the manager was on duty!!my first impression as being a restaurant manager phones are not allowed only for emergencies. I would’ve fired all of them. I went to the counter and ordered and I was really really wanting some Captain D’s fish. I’m from the Gulf Coast area and we do fish! The girl on the counter seemed uninterested in taking my order because she was playing around with a cook in the back. So I waited and placed my order. She was very loud and very unprofessional but again I got my order and sat down to eat. The broccoli was not steamed. It was more like raw. The slaw tasted like it had been sitting a couple of days and I don’t know if they were not cleaning their fryers properly, but the fish was not fresh. It also seemed like it had been sitting so I thought to myself I’m not going back. I was so so disappointed so about 845 Friday evening in January I decided to try one more time because I really really love Captain D’s I always have. I went to the drive-through window instead I placed my order. The lady was very nice well spoken and then told me to pull up to the window. I pulled up to the window and she greeted me with professionalism and kindness. She gave me my order and I told her thank you so much. I went home to eat it and it was totally different. The food was amazing. You could tell that the oil had been changed in the fryers my broccoli was cooked perfectly not underdone or overdone just right the coleslaw seemed very fresh. The fish seemed very freshly cooked. I am very critical and I’m sure because of my background so I decided to go back and I go inside to order the young lady that took my order in the drive-through a few weeks ago took my order from the front. She’s got dark hair. She looks Italian and again she was super super professional, so I decide to sit down in the seating area to eat my food.. Im watching this woman run around the store moving like two or three people doing drive-through working the front counter and helping in the back,then making sure the drinks were either filled or cleaning at the area. These are the kind of people that you want to keep in your back pocket. I was so impressed with her. I asked her name., Emily she said so I applauded her and told her she was doing an amazing job and I hope the company is aware of how good of a job that she was doing. And I could see that she was a very hard worker and she then had told me that her family has been in the restaurant business for a very long time and we’re chefs. I told her that I could tell I felt like this needed to be told because I remember being her age and working hard like she did. It reminded me of a very younger me. I hope she is there the next time I come in because the food was amazing and the service was amazing. I even bought some food to take home..“
