“Very good ribs and food here is always consistent. I wish I was around back when Big Daddy was smoking the Q because he was one of the Pitmaster legends in Alabama back in the day. I know he would probably be turning in his grave if he heard what I'm about to say because he was a "ribs & white bread only" type of guy, but the banana pudding is the truth!!!

“Was working in Tuscaloosa and a restaurant with a two hour wait recommended the River. We had the steak filet and the seared tuna. Both dishes were absolutely amazing. The service was outstanding and the whole experience was just classy and comfortable. Brussel sprouts were on special for an appetizer, they were the best we’ve ever had. I highly recommend this restaurant.“

“Urban Cookhouse has a simple easy to order menu. It was packed last time I had lunch. Turnover is pretty fast so finding a seat is not difficult. Outdoor patio will be more conducive as fall comes and the heat reduces. Great staff - very helpful. Healthy menu!

Parking: There are spaces all around the building so don't worry if you cannot find a parking space right in front of the doors. You may have to walk 40 yards at the most.

Kid-friendliness: Menu kids will eat from with healthy choices.

“This is a great place to eat! The staff are always fast and courteous. The food is delicious, and the portions are immense, well worth the prices.

Vegetarian options: Highly recommended for a great meal at a fair price with a fun atmosphere.

Kid-friendliness: It is a bar/ restaurant, so getting there early for dinner would be best if you're bringing younger kids. We've never had any issue with unruly patrons.

“Saturday lunch with children. The lamb and chicken were hot. The fruit was fresh. I do wish my Tomato Basil had been grilled on both sides or at least warm rather than served refrigerator-cold it was still tasty! I always forget to order extra rice. We LOVE the rice!

To forgetting things we asked for when taking our orders, to getting rude when asking for the things we asked for when we ordered our food. Brought our checks out , and then said she had to add gratuity, even tho one of my friends had already paid her ticket. She voided it out, and gave her the new ticket. Charged me gratuity on the 2 To-Go orders I had on my ticket. Thank goodness the manger split the Check up. Parking: Place was pretty busy and parking was tight. If you do go around the back of the building it dead ends so if your in a larger vehicle it would be hard to turn around.“

This day we had the parmesan chicken on penne pasta with marinara, and the serving size was monstrous - we took more than half home with us. One other factor was this location has my wife's favorite salad dressing: peppercorn ranch that is locally made.“
