“Man this place deserves 10stars. Fabulous food fabulous fabulous fabulous! The employees are all super sweet and helpful and know the food they are selling and do not mind telling you about whatever you ask. The place looks incredible everywhere is really cool . The bar is separated from the family dining area which is cool. The guys wanting to wind down after work don't have to listen to the noise from family dining and vice versa. The prices may seem a little steep but just try it I promise you'll want to return. #1 BBQ in the state!“
“A buddy of mine lives in the area and had been raving about this place for weeks prior to our trip to the Birmingham area. We went for a late lunch and got the loaded nachos with pork, 24 wings, and three sides. The wings with the Alabama white sauce on her side are a big hit. He loaded nachos were exactly that, and delicious with thick cut potato chips. The sides also did not disappoint.“
“Loved, loved, loved it. Food was fantastic. Went based on other reviews. They were spot on.Fried green tomato sandwich, brisket sandwich, smashburger were all very good. We are not fond of grits, but (based on reviews) ordered the smoked gouda grits. THEY WERE AMAZING.Not cheap, average portion sizes, but the quality was top notch. We will definitely be back.“
“Finding seating is hard here….And that’s it. That’s the end of the slight detriments. This is some is the best BBQ in birmingham and that’s a pretty big deal. The sweet tea chicken sandwich is FANTASTIC, but I actually tried a burger this time. Don’t usually eat burgers, but I was feeling it. So thrilled I did. The Carolina I think it was? Chili on a burger…. And just enough to not overwhelm everything else.Sides? You can’t go wrong. But the potato salad is my go to.Good prices. Amazing good. Friendly service and atmosphere. Saw’s has it awwwl.Vegetarian options: Why would you go here if you’re a vegetarian?“
“Working in Birmingham, AL for an extended period of time and Jim 'N' Nick's was right up the street from both my hotel and my work site so we stopped in for lunch one time. Listen, I enjoyed myself SO MUCH that I returned 2 more times for dinner! Here's why!Atmosphere/Appearance: This place is huge and has a fairly large footprint for being in a downtown setting. No private parking, but there's plenty of street parking. Once inside you're greeted by a wide-open dining room and a big center bar with seating on 3 sides. There are dining booths on both sides and plenty of standard tables. If you walk on the left side of the bar and head toward the back you'll see the to-go section where you can walk right up to the counter and order your food to roll out with.Service: I can't remember the name of our servers, but we sat at the bar each time and everyone was wonderful. As a collective they were funny, sweet, likeable and personable.Food: Like I mentioned, the first time we came, it was for lunch. Then they dropped those complimentary cheesy muffins in front of us, I was befuddled, beside myself and just bewildered. They were AMAZING. I could've eaten JUST THOSE for lunch and been so happy. However, for lunch I wanted something light and went with their Chopped Southern Salad which consists of smoked chicken, smoked onions, sweet corn, cheddar cheese, bacon, cucumber, tomatoes, almonds and homemade croutons then tossed in house-made vinaigrette. It was delightfully fresh, yet filling and savory. I loved it. However, I saw they had smoked wings so on my next visit I came in for those... I was able to try 2 flavors, their Buffalo and Morgan Co. White Sauce (also knows as Alabama BBQ sauce). They were DELIGHTFUL. This may have been the first time I was able to try an Alabama BBQ sauce and I really liked it's savory-ness. It's a mayonnaise-based sauce which gives it its white color and rounded flavor. The Buffalo was thick and hearty, better than a watery traditional Buffalo sauce. On my 3rd visit I tried out their Combo Plate. On it was their smoked turkey, fried catfish and beef brisket. On the side was a salad and a lil' cup of mac & cheese. The food was so delicious it really made me think this place was like a one-off. Much to my surprise there are Jim 'N' Nick's BBQ places ALL OVER THE SOUTH! Nice job guys.Value: It's a BBQ place and usually they aren't cheap. I feel like $30.00 is enough to come here and pig out with!In conclusion, I loved it here... That's why I hit this place up 3 times. Lol. I will certainly pay this place a return visit or check out another one if I'm in the area!“
“I have made a weekly visit to this place in the last three weeks. I've only tried the bacon and fried green tomatoes, the smoked sausages, and the banana pudding, but have thoroughly enjoyed every bite of it. Definitely 10 out of 10.“
“Amazing - far exceeded our expectations!!!Our hotel recommended this restaurant and gave details on what they liked about it. It sounded unique, so we gave it a try. OMG! It had a great atmosphere in a little neighborhood shopping center. The service was great, our server was friendly and took great care of us. They have Bushwackers! We also had two of the grits and green dishes - pulled pork and blackened catfish. Both were delicious! And, we had the butterscotch bread pudding. Everything was SO good! What a great experience.“
“Ok, my intentions were to take pictures of our beautiful meal, but me and my husband could not wait. We usually have good conversations at dinner. Not today we were so off into our wonderful meal. It Will leave you breathless. Everything taste GREAT!!! Even the dessert. We will definitely be back. (tomorrow, lololol ??) Hoover location.“
“Best Bar-B-Q EVVAA!! ❣️ I LOVE IT! Very friendly people. It's just a little walk up or drive thru but has been in that spot for some years!Parking: Pork plate chopped, no slaw, with extra fries instead and baked beans is my favorite and they put a bun in the plate. Also a large sweet teaKid-friendliness: Walk up or drive thru onlyWheelchair accessibility: Not positive but pretty sure“
“The manager Michelle made our experience unforgettable! She was super helpful and knowledgeable of the entire city I feel like! We were just passing through but we will stop back by when we are returning home just to see her! Thank you Michelle!“
“The food is absolutely amazing. The chicken tacos are phenomenal. I’ve visited the food truck twice and we’ve had them cater for the college championship and the Super Bowl. Everything is fresh and flavorful. 10/10 easily ! Keep up the good work !“
“It was a great experience. The staff was very friendly and professional and made sure to check on us through out the entirety of our visit. Food was brought out quickly and everyone’s order was right. I got the wing plate which came with 2 sides and a choose of bread. The food was made fresh to order and tasted really good. The wings were smoked and cooked properly and my 2 sides were onion rings (amazing) and fried okra. The fried okra was whole fried okra.“
“best BBQ! my father was having surgery at highlands and my daughter and I walked there for the lunch. the staff opened early for us as we were waiting outside in the heat. awesome food. great service. awesome decor. perfect music..played kate bush“
“The name does not Lie. I am driving through Alabama and the word serendipitous is what comes to mind when finding This gem of an establishment. By far the best wings and fries I have had in a very very very long time. Stop here if you are a wing enthusiast!“
“This place is one of my favorite places in Birmingham/Hoover. Food is great. Service is friendly. All artist are amazing. Sharron is my favorite! The atmosphere is definitely for the grown-ups. Perfect for a date night, anniversary, birthday, girls' night out, or a solo date. You will dance, sing, sway and enjoy the music.“
“I've been eating at this place for several years but I used to go with my friend Len. He introduced me to it even though he doesn't eat BBQ! He always would get French fries and a grilled cheese. Well the ribs are really good and the fries are outstanding. Sadly, my friend Len has passed away. I will always think of him when I eat at Carlile's.“
“Well, Jim N Nicks has been in Hoover a long time. It is good BBQ. However popular it may be, I have experienced some issues over time that have lessened my enthusiasm for eating there. The menu now changes annually and several items I have enjoyed have subsequently disappeared from the menu, such as catfish and grilled chicken. If you like their brisket, pork and potatoes you should be ok, but don't get too attached to other menu items. No guys, no one wants Pitmaster Nachos, this ain't Little Donkey. They have removed their grill and that has hurt menu options as well. Food portions have been hit by shrinkflation, but a visit will average 30-40 for a party of two. The staff are generally polite, but may be inattentive at times due to diner volume or tending bar/take outs. The music is extremely loud inside, moreso than most places, so people talk louder. This is the place if you want the music to drown out your in laws' conversation, but not if you are catching up with friends you actually like. As time goes on, my affection for Jim N Nicks changes like their menu. There is better BBQ around at better prices without the ongoing menu regenerations from the marketing department and the inside audio decibels making for an unpleasant dining experience. Stick to the drive thru and eat the cheese biscuits at home.“
“Great food and a friendly staff. You know a BBQ place will be awesome when you walk into the room and the pit is right there and you can smell the smokiness being cooked right into the meat and you are are surrounded by little piggy decor everywhere you look.“
“Southern Hospitality in America is real... we took a drive-by to Rodney Scott’s BBQ, here in Homewood, Alabama, to try our luck at 8.30am (service 11am). Looking like a couple of weirdos peering through the windows, the manager, Aaron Shoop, came out to see what we wanted. Explaining that we were from New Zealand and fans of Rodney and BBQ, we were invited in, given the full kitchen tour and then we were offered some menu items for take away (all paid for of course). Great chat with Aaron and Joel Brown about New Zealand BBQ and our trip through the states so far, and a few takeaway tips for hogg cooking and BBQ back home.Setting up a make shift picnic out the back of the SUV in the carpark - we feasted. There's only been 1 other occasion on this trip where my perspective of good BBQ flavor and texture has shifted... this was the second. Pulled whole hogg and ribs. The sauces - WOW!. Oh my! The flavor, the char, and the textures offered were excellent. So good! Mouth watering! Sides of Potato Salad and Slaw were a great addition. With full bellies, we're driving away to our next destination, I feel a sense of satisfaction that only good food can offer. I'll remember this for the rest of my life!Cameron Staples - Auckland, New Zealand -@jointsmokersbbqGlenn Manning - Christchurch, New Zealand - @thesmokinque“
“Talk about the Best Bar-B-Que in this Solar System...!!! You better Hurry if ya want a seat at the lunchTable.. You can catch up on all the Alabama Sports events too!! The Chocolate Chip Cookie Receipe is in a guarded local bank valult!! It took me Days to devour them Cookies jus one nibble at a time!!!“
“This is a typical friendly mom and pop establishment, the service is friendly and the food is good.Baked beans is fair the slaw is excellent as is the fries. There hamburger steak may be the best I’ve had and the gravy and onions on top were delicious.Toast is great and the other meats like sliced barbecue pork is great as well.Only issue is when you order half and half tea it comes out tasting like regular sweet tea.If your watching sugar intake just order unsweetened tea.The atmosphere is really good and family friendly.I would definitely recommend trying this place for good barbecue“
“My family decided to try this place out based on the reviews we seen online. I will say the service was good, the restaurant is clean, the food had plenty of options to choose from like fried soft shell crabs, crawfish, fried chicken, hibachi, beef ribs, fresh sushi, fried shrimp, rice, lo mein, fresh fruit, the dessert options are limited or not as tasteful.“
“I hadn't been here in years because of a custimer service issue. We tried it again and the food was great. The ribs were cooked and flavored to perfection, so was the chicken. The sides were tasty as well. There are several big name rib joints here in Birmingham that i find average at best. In My opinion they have the best Barbeque in Town!“
“Do you like mouthwatering food with live music and an atmosphere so great it felt un-earthly? If so, The Palm and Pig is for you. The Smoked wings are simply to die for. Staff is kind, welcoming, and friendly. They go above and beyond to serve both on the floor and in the kitchen, and the results are evident. My only complaint is that I am unable to give this restaurant a Michelin star rating.Parking: Plenty of parking spots“
