“The quality and presentation of the food was fantastic. Service was also perfect. The location and front of the restaurant does not tell the full story, the fixed menu delivers wonderul taste and quality of the food to compete with a Michelin star restaurant. We will be returning and look forward to the next menu.“
“I went here with my parents years ago, and came back this week. It's a neat experience - still as good as it was from before.Food is a solid 4/5 for me; Tastes good and portions are relatively filling.Service is a solid 4/5 for me; The waiter is attentive and drops by to check on our table regularly.Atmosphere can be slightly better, but for the location, I can't expect too much. All in all, would recommend if you've got friends/family visiting from outside of town.“
“We booked a table for our anniversary and we did enjoy our food there. Our menu consisted of a series of smaller plates, almost 7-8 in total if we count the pre-amuse amuse, the actual amuse and the post-desert, i.e. the mignardises (which I really enjoyed, especially the truffle-chocolate).Dishes were balanced and complex flavor-wise. I would have preferred the bread from the bread service to be a bit less sweet from that glaze and a bit more fluffy, it was quite dense.Since this is my 24th Michelin Star restaurant, I have to say that portion-wise, the entire meal in total was on the barely-enough-food side. I have rarely had this experience with restaurants of this caliber and I usually make fun of people who say that in fine dining portions are small, because for most degustation menus, you rarely leave a place hungry.Unfortunately, I left St. Laurence almost hungry. My delicious caramelized onion tart was barely a bite, my amazing pasta dish was barely two bites and my duck breast main had literally two tiny pieces of duck. Even for the bread service I was never asked if I want more than a tiny bun that was supposed to serve two.To compare French cuisine with French cuisine, at Le Bernardin, a three-star restaurant in the heart of NYC, the bread service is impeccable, the bread is of a higher quality all together, and you can have as much as you want. If you visit for lunch you get probably 3 times more food than St Laurence, for the same amount of money approx. So, while I enjoyed the flavors and the service was good, I really did leave the restaurant almost hungry, and while my palate was highly entertained I felt that the restaurant could afford to serve slightly bigger portions. In other words, I felt a bit cheated, as if I should be satisfied with less food because (insert a make-believe explanation here)Btw, we did add extras to our menu and still the food wasn't enough. Also, for a French restaurant the wine list is just unacceptable. Very few choices really. It will take me a while to visit for those reasons.“
“Went with my friend the day before Valentine's Day for the tasting menu. Service was average, but kudos to the lovely hostess who acknowledged special request for our reservations, and wondering why the dining room servers not paying attention to details like the hostess. Overall the tasting menu was of average quality, nothing of vow factors comparing to my first dining experience years ago here. In particular, the main course European Sea Bass was quite dry, and not sure why it was complemented with chickpeas and salsa like sauces, not quite the chemistry! We have asked the bus boy for taking our picture, but he said he would ask our server who showed up only when serving us the 3 courses, and at the end, the bus boy took the picture for us. Yes, we completed the 3 courses and the pictures, but we both didn't feel completed with a good dining experience!“
“Fantastic service and delicious French food. We were warmly greeted by the hostess Sophia at the door, she offered to change us to a window seat for better ambiance which was thoughtful of her. Our server Alexandre was super attentive and friendly as well. We ordered the escargot, scallops, rack of lamb, duck confit special, and foie gras duo (not pictured). The dishes came out in timely manner and were full of flavour. The escargot was one of the best I’ve ever had. Scallops were big and juicy, lamb was perfect medium rare and not gamey at all. Honestly I’d choose the duck breast on the menu over the duck confit special next time, as the legs were a little dry, but the marinated oranges on the puff pastry were really good. At the end we were given complimentary sorbet for our special occasion. I booked this reservation over a month ago, and it did not disappoint!“
“We ate here and the food was amazing. Some really unique flavors and ingredients in dishes that gives it that extra touch to make it a fine dining experience.View was fabulous and the service was great too. I will definitely be back here next time I’m in VancouverThank you!“
“Unexpectedly good restaurant in a industrial area. The look from outside is a bit ghetto, but the inside is completely outstanding. Have to give the staff a thumbs up as the washroom is extremely clean. Food is very tasty! Definitely recommend!Parking: Easy to park in the area.“
“The food here is absolutely exceptional! It was definitely the best meal that we’ve had in a very, very long time. Cory and his team are very welcoming. Everything from the bread that started the meal and the butter that came with it to the poached pear dessert to the seared scallops to the ceviche. 10 out of 10. It was truly remarkable that it was this flawless. congratulations.“
“Love the atmosphere and artwork at this place!! Food came out piping hot. I was full when we left, but it wasn't my favorite. The menu said sourdough. It was different than I'm used to...it had quite a sweet flavor to it. The potatoe seemed a little burnt and extra greasy. Check it out and see for yourself. The atmosphere is the best, I love behind the bar...very cool.“
“I wish I came here sooner, I’ve lived here my whole life and tonight was my first time checking out Tour De Feast! I almost went to somewhere basic like the keg/joeys and I dont think I ever can knowing that this gem exists. Michelin star quality dishes created by a real chef. Great family owned restaurant! I would recommend the onion tart appetizer and the beef dishes. I’m definitely going to try the entire menu.Side note the ppl who left poor reviews were complaining about the silliest things, if you love food and arent entitled you wont regret trying this place out! 10/10“
“Coquette is everything you want it to be! We were a party of 5 with reservations and had a lovely round table in the corner, in a beautifully designed roomAudrey looked after us and what a pleasure she was! The service was respectful and not rushed at all We thoroughly enjoyed the evening, from the appetizers to the desserts. Thank you for a lovely evening! The only suggestion I have to offer is to include some non alcoholic wines and a few more zero proof or low ABV beverages on the menu to have more options for mindful drinkers.“
“??Laminated brioche: I asked for something not so sweet and the girl recommended this one. She said the difference between this and a butter croissant was the brioche was more flaky. I couldn’t tell if there’s a difference but it was buttery, flaky while the inside was moist. And the size was generous??pistachio rocher: The chocolate ouside was p sweet, but the pistachio cream on the second layer was not sweet at all, there was runny, nutty and salty pistachio sauce in the middle, which balances out the sweetness. The combination of crispy wafers and soft sponge cakes gave it a mixed texture that brought the experience to the next level.“
“The welcome, the service, as well as the food is truly a true immersion in a Parisian brasserie. If conditions permit, taking a table out front on the street improves the experience.(I was in Paris during my time there this afternoon for a late sunny lunch at the terrace!)The manager and Sasha are incredibly welcoming. If you are passing through Vancouver, stop at Kits (the flank steak with Roquefort sauce is super good ?)“
“I ordered the halibut risotto and it was very tasty. The scallops were done just right - tender and soft. The halibut is a tad overcooked but the sauce makes up for it.We both ordered the combo menu and were happy with the portion and the quality of service. The restaurant went from quiet at 5:30 to nearly full in 30 minutes. So it is recommended to make a reservation on the weekend.“
“We made a reservation here to stop by before a Wanda Sykes show at the QE. My wife had eaten here before but it was my first time here. When you enter it seems like a small, intimate bistro. Once you look around and see the stairs on either side going up to the 2nd floor you realize it is actually much larger. The vast vaulted ceiling in the middle adds to the grandeur. So the atmosphere is great before you even try the food. The service provided by Michael and others was amazing! From bringing around menus to refilling water everyone was very attentive. They were out of the Baked Brie so we ordered Duck Poutine, Shrimps Provençal and Moules et Frites (Mussels & Fries) to share. The poutine was rich, creamy and the fries crispy and nicely seasoned. The lemon, butter & garlic sauce with the shrimp was amazing and I soaked up much as I could with the bread. The mussels tasted wonderful in their sauce as did the crispy fries. All the food was delicious! My wife had the house rose to drink while I had their cocktail special. It was similar to a French 75 but perhaps with grapefruit instead of lemon juice. It was very refreshing. For dessert we had a Decadent Hot Chocolate. It had wonderful whipped cream, chocolate flakes on top of the melted dark chocolate which was very creamy. There was a raspberry & chocolate macaron and biscotti to dip in the hot chocolate. It was incredible and a perfect way to finish off the meal! We’ll be back!Parking: There is paid street parking and paid garage parking options nearby. We’re a 15 minute bus ride from downtown so we took that option instead.“
“My husband and I always have a wonderful time at Jess Restaurant. Attentive service and the food is fantastic. I especially love the frequent update of seasonal dishes, keeps the menu interesting and something different to look forward to. Love the details and flavor combinations in each dish, it’s always a pleasure to try out new creations! Highly recommend!“
“partner and I went before going to Shen Yen.we both had the tasting menu (veg) since some of the fish items on the carnivore menu weren't our particular tastes.food was absolutely amazing. service was incredible. when we told the server we were running low on time they and the kitchen accommodated us. dishes were served with full descriptions. sake flight was served with both descriptions and background which I loved.would go here again for sure and high on my recommendation list to friends. made for a fantastic start to an awesome night“
“This place had potential to an all starBut I have tried a few of the desserts and none of them were exceptional. The dark chocolate mocha was great and they have a good fresh bread collection. But the biggest let down was the turkey sandwich which was dry and unappetizing, the bread was a white non toasted baguette which was hard and chewy, the turkey was dry and the sandwich needed some sauce maybe a cranberry or mayo, the gravy dip was disappointedly unflavorful(bland).I really enjoyed the store design and the friendly service!“
“This must be the best kept secret in Vancouver! I really don't think you can get a better deal! They have a $35 3 Course meal that is absolutely worth every penny & more! Not sure how they do it in this economy, but they do & let me tell you, they do it so very well!We enjoyed the Mango Salad, Scallop & Prawn Ceviche, Canard Confit, Boeuf Braised et Pomme de Terre, Earl Grey & Burnt Honey Creme Brulee & Raspberry Crumble a la mode. Everything was absolutely wonderful! My duck was the best duck I have ever had! It was fall off the bone, melt in your mouth crazy good. The beef was well seasoned & fork tender. If I had one critique, it would be the potatoes. I'm not a potato person & there was alot of it, but if you like potatoes then you'll be good. The cocktails & the decafe coffee were also delicious. This is a relatively new restaurant, being open for less than year, so show them some love & visit soon! We want to make sure they stick around for while!@inspiringfoodie“
“Great place to learn or practice your French! I just started an intermediate course there and so far it's great. The teacher is very knowledgable, they have a library where you can pick some books to take home, they also organize different activities so people can get together and practice. The staff is super nice and helpful. I recommend you check out this place if you're looking for a francophone community in Vancouver ?“
“First time dining in here and it was a pretty fair experience. Wanted to enjoy a cozy patio seating while it’s bright and sunny outside and it didn’t disappoint. Patio is pretty cozy with very comfortable heating. Food, they are pretty basic dishes, but really flavorful. Portions are filling for the price. Customer service is also pretty average. Overall, it wasn’t great but still a good experience. Would definitely recommend.“
“This discreet restaurant is a must stop for all steak lovers. The steak frites accompanied with the mustard butter and peppercorn sauce were the ultimate combo. The staff were very friendly and quick I’ve been here twice in the past week and will be coming again! 10/10“
“They accommodated my request and food was delicious for the price. Daal was a little runny but I assume it was slow cooked for long time and it tasted amazing. It's hard to find normal tawa roti in Vancouver but they got very soft tawa rotis like homemade. I hope they fix their menu on DoorDash other thn that amazing food. I'll definitely visit soon.“
“Owner Fabrice's bakery will whisk you into French buttery paradise! His croissants are flaky, puffy, buttery, light and delicious. The sandwiches are fantastic, all at unbeatable prices. You can taste the passion and dedication that Fabrice's has. For a taste of France without the jet lag, head to Plaisir Sucré. Magnifique!“
“Cute French restaurant at the bottom of Vancouver house. Replaced Ça Marche Crêperie but same vibe and layout. Not very big but cozy. No reservations and no takeout. It was Valentine's Day and we were able to snag a seat at the bar. It was fun watching the chefs cook and plate in front of us. We got the beef tartare and mussels to share. Beef tartare was fresh and not too heavy. The beet sauce was a great addition. The mussels were delicious and well seasoned. Came with hot crispy fries.—Nice authentic spot for crepes at the Vancouver house underneath the Granville bridge. It is a very small restaurant though, so be sure to go early since there are no reservations and no takeout. I got the jambon cru ($24). It is a little pricey for a crepe but I loved all the ingredients and how fresh the savoury buckwheat crepe tasted.“
“I would say that the food was overpriced. The portions were very small. The order of bread was 1 piece cut in half. The chef's menu would not be worth the money, so our group ordered items off the main menu (some doubles for size) and it was much less expensive. The lighting could be more dim, I found the ambience slightly off.“
“We were a group of 20+ celebrating a friend's birthday. Andy, Vivian and the team were more than accommodating, attentive, friendly and provided top-notch service! It's not a cheap place to eat and the auto-grat adds up but for a big group, it's an industry standard that I'm ok paying. Would definitely go back!“
“The outside is certainly deceiving! Coming inside the space is so cozy and inviting, every spot is comfy to sit and plenty of power outlets as well.Quite possibly the best Mocha I've had...sweet but not too sweet, rich and beautifully finished on topDefinitely my new spot!“
“I had a fantastic experience at this cafe! The customer service here sets a high standard for all others. The place is clean and has a nice atmosphere. Coffee was great and their supreme croissants are dangerously delicious!!! This is a must place to visit.“
“This bistro is a great place to have some drinks and share a plate of something to nibble at. If you are relaxed and not in a rush and have time to enjoy the atmosphere that is super cozy then this place is for you . The service is relaxed and laid back but really good I find . I love sitting at the bar as well on my own to enjoy a glass of wine after a long day at work. They always have some vegetarian options that are great on the menu as well.Vegetarian options: They switch their menu but always have a few options I find if your vegetarian that are really good.“
“This place takes you back to a little side street in Paris. The decor is shabby chic. The service is 5 star as is the food. Their wine selection is some of the best I’ve seen.Take it from a retired Chef who is passionate about food - put this place on your list“
“Stepping into Paul's Bakery transported me straight to a Parisian cafe. The aroma of freshly baked bread and the soft chatter created a charming and authentic atmosphere. I got a classic lunch with the flaky pastry and rich chocolate filling. Overall experience was good though it was crowdy than expected.“
“So excited that Origo club has decided to reopen with a pop up cafe. I went there the first time and gasped at how amazing the vibe is. Very beautifully done pastries, tastes perfect and crisp. Staffs are nice as well. I hope this place stays open in the future!“
