“we went for lunch and only had ramen. I had the mayu ramen and it was so good! The broth is pork based and was slightly spicy but delicious. I would definitely go back.“

“This is honestly the best ramen place in Surrey because it tasted like it really came from a home kitchen. Most ramen places I’ve been to in Surrey feels like they rushed their broth and they don’t know how to bring the umami out but at Umami Ramen, they know what they’re doing. The flavour is so depth that you can taste all the layers of the ingredients they used. The noodles were close to perfect too. It had nice bounce and chewiness to it so it was really fun to eat.
Ive been here twice already. The first time I came here I just came in cause I was hungry and I didn’t really know where to eat since the foods around Surrey central were so unhealthy. I was pretty surprised how clean it was inside despite the location. I’ve ordered their chicken katsu ramen twice now and the flavours have been pretty consistent. It’s also worth it for the price.
This restaurant is super underrated. It was actually pretty busy when I came in today with lots of to go orders and there were at least 6 tables being served.
My favourite part about this restaurant tho is their staff. I don’t know their names but they were super friendly and I felt cared for while being inside which made my experience here a 10/10. I’m gonna be recommending this spot to a lot of people since most are afraid to try it because of the location. Go to this restaurant if you want the best quality ramen in Surrey if you don’t want to go to downtown.“

“I've been coming to Full Ramen since it opened, and I go several times a month. It is the best ramen place in Surrey, hands down, and I always bring friends and family there. It's always worth it to go in, though I have it delivered from time to time as well. My favourite is the classic Tonkatsu ramen and I get it without the wakame because of my personal taste, but if you're a fan of it then keep it in. Lovely staff, she knows me and knows my order by heart which I appreciate.“

“Excellent food and outstanding service. We came in about an hour before closing on a statutory holiday, but everything came out quickly and tasted fantastic. Karl was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout our visit.“

“We usually order the Korean army stew, and my partner gets the spicy kimbap. We also like to add a side of cup-bokki.
One time, the cup-bokki wasn’t as spicy or flavorful as usual. It seemed like it had been served before it was fully cooked, so the sauce was still watery and hadn’t simmered down enough. We didn’t want to cause any trouble, but we quietly let the staff know. They took it back and cooked it again, but unfortunately, it was still a bit watery. They then offered us a refund, but we told them it was okay because mistakes happen, and we understand that tteokbokki needs time to cook down properly.
When we went back today, the quality of the tteokbokki was much better. It was flavorful, properly cooked, and really tasty. The staff have always been very kind as well, which we appreciate.“

“Have stopped here a few times while being in the area. Decided on dinner here tonight and it was nice and yummy. The Burke mountain roll was lovely and tasty but not overwhelming with the sauce. The add on chicken karaage was a delicious light batter and perfectly cooked chicken inside that came piping hot. The double double ramen was satisfying and the soup was really light and quite fantastic. The salmon aburi had a great presentation and was filling. Perfet order for 2 persons. Sorry for the noodle photo ..I already started eating it...I don't usually drink the soup...I drank it all!! I appreciate the low sodium soy as well.❤️🙏🏻“

“the tonkotsu ramen with rich broth was a warm, comforting contrast to the cold, rainy weather outside. the broth was flavourful and highlighted the ramen noodles.
we also ordered chicken karaage and it was sublime!! the karaage was nice and crispy on the outside but soft and moist on the inside. the dip they paired it with was great!“

“We’ve visited Ramen Bella probably close to 30 times over the years. We love the friendly and quick service, tasty ramen (including veggie options!) and reasonable prices. If you’re veggie I highly recommend the Tofu Green and add a ramen egg!“

“Amazing quality for such an unbelievably affordable price!
The kimbap rice was perfectly cooked not too soft or mushy and each roll was generously filled with a variety of ingredients, making every bite delicious and satisfying. The tteokbokki had a great chewy texture, and the sauce was flavorful without being overwhelmingly spicy, pairing perfectly with the kimbap.
Highly recommend the Tuna Chili Kimbap and the Deep Fried Shrimp Kimbap! Will definitely be coming back again“

“If you’re a ramen lover in Vancouver, you’ve probably heard of Marutama Ra-men. This iconic chain founded in Japan back in 2001 has spread across the globe and is known for their signature creamy chicken broth with aosa seaweed. Recently, they opened up a new location near Metrotown (in the former Ramen Raijin spot on Kingsway) and I visited during their soft opening.
Knowing how fanatical ramen people are, I made sure to show up early to avoid the lineups. I was maybe 5 minutes past their opening time and the place was already packed. I managed to get one of their last open seats at the large communal table and perused their rather limited menu offering. Although they don’t have a large number of items on their menu, you can somewhat customize your ramen bowl to your liking. However, I just stuck with the basic Tamago Ramen ($11.25) and asked for the mild option. After that, I waited, and waited, and waited… they seemed rather slow but that could be because it was their soft opening.
When my food finally arrived, there was already a lineup of diners outside the restaurant waiting patiently for a table. The bowl comes with 2 pieces of chashu which I found to be okay but not the tenderest that I’ve had before (I’ve had much better elsewhere). The ajitama (soft-boiled egg) was nicely prepared with a creamy and partly runny yolk. While you can add a noodle refil for $1.50, I thought there was an adequate amount of noodles already in the bowl. The thing that most people are here for is the broth. I did enjoy how the aosa seaweed and green onions melded with the flavours and the broth was fairly creamy. That being said, I felt the broth was overly salty and I carried that feeling in my mouth for a few hours after my meal.
Is this the best ramen spot in the Vancouver area? That’s probably a bit of a personal question (and, to be fair, this was their soft opening). IMOH, the broth was overly salty and the service was slow. Probably not something that I would line up for. That being said… I decided to give them another try and returned for a revisit about a month later. This time around, I ordered the Cha-Shu Tamago Ramen ($14.75) and Gyoza ($5.50)
The Gyoza was the first to arrive and had a light crispness to the exterior with a warm pork and veggie filling and tart dipping sauce. These actually weren’t too bad (maybe things are looking up?)
I have to admit that this bowl of ramen was much better than what I tried on my first visit. The pieces of cha-shu were larger and a lot more tender than on my first visit and the broth, while still somewhat salty, was much less salty than on my initial go around. In the bowl, you also get a marinated ajitama (egg) with a somewhat creamy yolk. If you go for the spicy option with your ramen, you might notice that the spicy kick creeps up on you as you drink the broth.
My thoughts? I’m assuming my experience on the first visit is a bit of a throwaway and that they were still working things out. The second visit was much better. That being said, this place is super duper busy (even when they first open up). The menu is fairly limited with just variations on the same staples but I guess that allows them to control their quality. If you’re really into ramen and have never been here before, then you might want to try this place out… just show up early or be prepared for a wait. If you’re not a big ramen fan, I wouldn’t bother with the lines.
UPDATE - June 2026: It's been 6 years since I last visited here... back before they changed names to Maruachi Ra-men. On this revisit, we ordered the Maruhachi Ra-Men Cha-Shu Tsuke-Men ($21.5) and their Signature Ramen ($21.5) made with chicken stock and added some Pan Fried Gyoza ($7.6), Wood Ear Mushrooms ($1.5), Corn ($1.5), and free Chili Oil.“

“Fresh, authentic Japanese food! The owner is super nice, and offers great food at even better value! I look forward to making this spot one of my regular go-to restaurants!
I ordered the bluefin tray a, and the sushi that I got was extremely fresh. The nigiri pieces had very large pieces of fish and nothing had a fishy smell. The rolls were also extremely large, my partner and I were very satisfied after eating the tray!
I cannot recommend this place more!“
