“Cute little cottage style restaurant with pleasant atmosphere and outdoor seating. I ordered at a window inside. I got the falafel plater and a pita. The sides I chose were the hummus, pickled beets, zhoug, and baba goulash. The baba goulash was my favorite. The beets were not vinegary and were refreshing. The hummus was tasty and the zhoug nice and spicy. Tasty and crispy falafel balls on a saffron rice drizzled with a tahini sauce was the main dish and the pita was just right. I ate every bite and caught myself food moaning a few times. I sat outside in a sunny spot and enjoyed the view and light breeze. Except 3-4 main dishes containing meat or dairy, the entire menu is vegan. They assured me meat is cooked in different areas and doesn’t share oil. They don’t cross contaminate with vegan dishes. It was after the lunch hour, yet they were busy. I’d go here again and recommend to locals and travelers. The restaurant is just a short ways off the 101 towards the sea on the left. Easy on and off in King Salmon.”

“I absolutely loved this place! Unfortunately, I was only visiting Eureka, but both nights went to Humboldt cider.
It’s in a huge space, extremely high ceilings, bit of a warehouse feel, but with an artsy edge.
Lots of different seating arrangements, incl. an area looking out of the building where there was probably a giant garage door at some point (providing open air vibes), couches, small and large tables, and a smaller area, partially enclosed for more intimate room (it can be rented out for parties or what have you).
Extremely reasonable prices.
They don’t carry food per se (they have chips & brownies) but there was always a food truck parked in front.
The ciders themselves, I thought they were delish and they had a good variety. They also have plain pressed cider/nonalcoholic cider.
Staff were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful in cider suggestions and letting me taste.
Be aware, they are only open four days a week, I think. So check on that before going.
They have a bunch of board games and a couple skee ball games. Bring quarters.
Casual and comfortable atmosphere with yummy cider – definitely check it out!”

I just read this review and… I’m shaking my head, I am a local who’s been eating here for a long time and this honestly made me laugh out loud, not only am I a very dark skinned person but there is many dark skinned staff members at this restaurant so this comment comes off very unbelievable to me.
I have never been discriminated here and find everyone very kind, my waiter there was a young dark skinned girl and also like I said I am very dark skinned, so this is just laughable to me and not a review I would find accurate or helpful at all I also find it so odd that who ever wrote this review felt the need to state the skin color of the accused party maybe they are a bit colorist in there statement ??‍♀️

“Its been a while since I seen him but everytime Ive spoken with the manager/shift lead (Malik, I believe) he gave me quick and courteous service.

His team always seems happy and I hear them joking and jawning.

The one time I had slow service was when someone passed out outside and employees had to interface with the emts as they put someone on a stretcher.

On a related note, Malik and the staff do a great job of managing the folks who need to use fast food spaces as a base of operations. Ive never had any weird instances with anyone who are allowed to stick around.”

“I have been going to Cocina Mariposa regularly since moving to Humboldt in January 2019. I have tried a fairly large portion of the menu at this point. Every single thing I have ordered has invariably been fresh and absolutely delicious.

For me, particular highlights are the chili relleno plate, the tacos (with habanero salsa if you like spicy), and the California burrito. If you're into Mexican breakfast, their breakfast tortas and chilaquiles are excellent. But really, order anything that sounds good, it'll probably be great!

Their agua frescas are also to die for. They are made with real juice and are unlike most of the agua frescas you'll have had in your life.

They are also VERY knowledgeable about vegetarian and vegan cuisine, and are willing to alter menu items to fit these diets within reason.

This review is long overdue, but I recommend Cocina Mariposa to the highest degree. It really is a gem in a restaurant landscape that is otherwise dubious.”

“We love bakeries. Some days we stop at two or three as we travel through towns. The reviews said Ramone's was really good so we had to try them. As soon as we walked in and saw the cases our eyes lit up. Great selection of quality pastries and cakes. We settled on 2 orange-currant scones and a baby NY cheesecake just big enough for two. We ate one of the scones as soon as we got back in our vehicle and almost went back for more. Full of flavor and nice texture. We had the cheesecake for dinner dessert and yes, it was fantastic. One of the best cheesecakes we have had. You have to go to Ramone's if you are anywhere near Eureka. The only thing we are sorry about is we were out of town too far to go back for another cheesecake by the time we ate it. Super high marks. Thank you Ramone's.”

Not only are the people working offer some of the best service you’ll get but the menu has so much more to offer than your average taco truck. “Sals Bar is the best Bar I've ever Been to and I've been to a lot of Bars and the owner sal is an Awesome man and Honest and respectfule man with a big heart and his son and Daughter are also super Kool people the crowd that hangs out there are like the family I don't have I live sal and his family and this is the only place we're your treated like Family seriously I have nothing but good things to say about my Bar sal s zBar and Grill every thing is priced right anc the atmosphere is so cool and chilled and relaxed a place to take a load off and forget about your problems feel like you're in another world a happy world and the people are extremely friendly and loving and caring and concerned about everyone around them in a good way I've met the nicest people in this place and the best food and drinks I couldn't ask for a better place in all of Humboldt county and sells a hell of a guy hey man his son and daughter and the ones that are local to hanging out at this place but the pool tables in the jukebox and just the atmosphere is so great and loving and caring and respectful much respect you get from the crowd that ends up in this place where the regulars meet people I couldn't ask for a better crowd I'm quite the lush sometimes and I've been around to a lot of bars all over the world and honest to God this is the best place I've ever set my a** down in and had a drink and the bartenders Rock they have the nicest bartenders in the world they never get anything wrong and they're good to talk with consult with you can trust them and they're very giving and loving and caring and respectful as well I couldn't ask for a better place I tell you when I came back to eureka after I left in 09 after my girlfriend and best friend died two weeks apart I really didn't want to go on living until I went to Sal's Bar this place saved my life honest to God and I think Sal and his family for this establishment it's a great place I don't think there's a better place in all of the world to be honest with you damn good place and thats what i have to”

“Cute little cottage style restaurant with pleasant atmosphere and outdoor seating. I ordered at a window inside. I got the falafel plater and a pita. The sides I chose were the hummus, pickled beets, zhoug, and baba goulash. The baba goulash was my favorite. The beets were not vinegary and were refreshing. The hummus was tasty and the zhoug nice and spicy. Tasty and crispy falafel balls on a saffron rice drizzled with a tahini sauce was the main dish and the pita was just right. I ate every bite and caught myself food moaning a few times. I sat outside in a sunny spot and enjoyed the view and light breeze. Except 3-4 main dishes containing meat or dairy, the entire menu is vegan. They assured me meat is cooked in different areas and doesn’t share oil. They don’t cross contaminate with vegan dishes. It was after the lunch hour, yet they were busy. I’d go here again and recommend to locals and travelers. The restaurant is just a short ways off the 101 towards the sea on the left. Easy on and off in King Salmon.”
