“First, my wife loved it. I thought it was ok. The kitchen was stretched. The waitress really didn't explain the menu. This was Americanized tapas. Too much food, no space between tables making it too crammed and no privacy. This was Valentines after all. And there's the nut, what is it like on a normal night? “This is my second time at Butterfly and it was amazing for dinner however breakfast was okay (3/5). I ordered the poached egg Benedict and my sister ordered chilaquiles and we both felt the food needed more seasoning, very bland and overpriced. The chilaquiles did not have any avocado which was a bit disappointing. I recommend their main menu/ breakfast not so much. I will say their service is great, the waiter was very attentive.“

It’s still a little sweet and a little effervescence. Love me a 7% ABV with a seltzer! Very cozy fun vibes. Comfortable bar seating as well as comfortable booth seating. Nice little outdoor patio and then an area to play games at your hearts content! Pool table inside ping-pong, table, and foosball table outside. Darts board games you name it very cozy couch and tables out on the patio as well. Partially covered. Alistair was very attentive to my friend, but didn’t seem to feel compelled to take care of me lol. A lot of fun eye candy on the walls. Vintage goodies. Will definitely be back.“

“Food and service were fine; we would consider return visits. However, indoor dining was much to noisy, we could barely hear each other talk over the din...painfully noisy because I had to adjust my hearing aids to the max volume using the restaurant noise reduction setting just to hear bits and pieces of intelligible conversation. Otherwise, I would only be able to hear noise. It took a few hours after leaving for my hearing to recover. We would only return during warmer weather so we could sit outside, where there's not the sound bouncing off of all the hard surfaces.“

“Grabbed a res day of to stop here before a show at the Wiltern and what a perfect little plan that was! I told them we were tight on time because of a show and they went out of their way to accommodate, making sure we got our table as soon as possible and fired all our food QUICKLY! We had some great recommended soju and 5 dishes between 2 people. Our favorites were the salmon kimbap, the uni tteok-bokki and the shrimp toast. (Note, we don’t eat red meat so cannot comment on those dishes). The crudo was a tad overdressed but fish was fresh. Highly recommend for a small party for pre show or pre night out dinner.“

We had delicious drinks and I had the Branzino!!!! Cooked superbly I had to take a picture of it!!!! Are server was a sweet heart she made us feel comfortable!! “This has been our favorite sushi in the neighborhood for years and years. Their fish is incredible and all of the items are made with care. I especially love the wide variety of fish options and specials. The staff is very friendly, especially with regard to our son, and always give him a little extra attention.“

Katsu curry rice is very good here (katsu pork was prepared perfectly and curry flavorful) as well as their gyudon (beef over rice). I also tried the seafood fried rice, which is one of my favorites, and it did not disappoint. The asado was perfectly cooked, very soft, and really flavorful. “I will definitely recommend this place for all ages. I grew up on Chinese food restaurants and they have gradually disappeared. But found one of the best lo mein noodles in Playa Vista. So yummy!!! You need to stop by because the menu has such fresh food to order. I love the spicy marinated cucumbers. If you love Chinese then this is the modern version but with those big noodles that we grew up on. YUMMY!!!“

As someone who's tried a wide spectrum of taco spots from street stands to Michelin, I was pleasantly surprised (and honestly a little salty it took me this long) to discover @tacostumadre right in my own neighborhood. This festive, casual spot specializes in modern Mexican fusion, with innovative culinary takes on Mexican cuisine starting from their iconic fried chicken taco. With over a dozen different protein and plant-based options that you can order as a taco, burrito or bowl, there's definitely something for everyone on their menu.

I stopped by the Westwood location, but there's also locations in Brentwood, Santa Monica, Weho, Larchmont and Los Feliz. It was really easy to find street parking around that area on the weekend at lunchtime, but they also have a $5 valet lot next to the restaurant. Service was SO nice, and I really appreciated how they took the time to quickly yet meticulously prepare every dish + gave me free chips and salsa with my order.

“I haven't been able to try this restaurant since it reopened and I had just the time to do so today. All the dim sum was great, just no BBQ pork buns 😂. The dumplings were thin skinned and tender and tasted similar to what I had in China and the waiters were friendly!“

“The view of the city is spectacular! The food is lovely though strange to have so much served in paper and plastic. The gambas were very tasty and the burger was nice though high priced. Sangria was different and served a bit like a Capri-Sun en una bolsa. Overall nice though almost every table was underneath a speaker with loudish music.“
