“Honestly, the food is Americana and nostalgic. But the service and atmosphere are top notch. But Amy's baked goods are our favorites. I have been coming here for years, but today I visited with some of my grandchildren and they loved it too. Especially the Monte Cristo sandwich. My grandson had never heard of such a sandwich. He was amazed anddelighted to gobble down a sandwich he had never even heard of. Our servers Chelsea, Coco and Amy are always a delight. Knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. The server trifecta. As usual at this great restaurant, I'll be back.“
“The food here is absolutely amazing!!!!! I had lemon thyme risotto with Scallops, my husband the Salmon. We had calamari for appetizer, and banana foster for dessert. Everything was cooked perfectly. The scallops were so tender and fresh. The ambience was nice, and I thought the drink selection was great. They do have kids menus if you want to bring your kids. It's probably the best food we have had in a while. Service was spot on. I highly recommend going here. It is a gem in the middle of nowhere, lol.“
“John and his staff serve lunch that is locally sourced and organic. There's always a line to order, but well worth the wait. The elk burger is awesome. John and his staff are gracious and skilled. It's like coming home to family every time I walk in.“
“For months I would stop and read the menu but just couldn’t bring myself to try one their “concoctions”. That was my loss. I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone trying several of their master pieces and have not been disappointed once. This place is like the Disney Epcot of sandwich shops. Ready for an American classic, the biscuits and gravy sandwich might be their simplest sandwich but I’m salivating right now just thinking about it. The gravy is top three I’ve ever had, if not the best. Ready for a trip south of the border, the enchiladas suizas sandwich might be my favorite so far (minus the sour cream). The addition of the chips might seem like something my kid would do, but don’t think this sandwich would be same without them. The salsa verde rivals anything I’ve had at any Mexican restaurant. Looking for something a little on the sweet side then give the honey walnut prawns a try, and continue down the Asian fusion path with the pot sticker cheese burger. I could go on but just know your trip around the culinary world doesn’t stop there. Don’t like to travel, no problem, the cheese burger will more than get the job done. Fair warning, they have a lot of fun and work their butts off, but on busy days there can be a bit of a wait so take some time and enjoy all Main Street has to offer. It will be more than worth it.“
“Enjoyed a late lunch here on our drive back from Lake Tahoe to the Bay Area. Didn't get to try their Lobster Bisque since they were out (Friday ~2pm), but our daughter loved their clam chowder. The Baked Brie was so delicious - served with warm bread, dried fruit, grilled onions and truffles. It was gone within a few minutes! For our mains, the crab cake sliders were fine, nothing spectacular. But their Salmon Salad was a hit! The salmon was cooked just right, not too dry, with a lightly sweet, refreshing dressing. I wish I could bottle up the dressing and take it home! We'll definitely be coming back when we're in town again.“
“Great little spot to grab some amazing baked treats and a really good breakfast as well. Biscuits and gravy was bomb but believe only on Sundays I think. If on the road and looking for something then stop in and the fun center is right behind it too.“
“It seems like the atmosphere would change based upon what you look like. The server wasnt really hospitable, however the female bartender had excellent service. I had the salmon with asparagus and a roce cake. Delicious!! I wish i remembered which drinks i had but both were great, not watered down and you can tell the bartender takes her craft seriously.“
“Finally found an all-beef hot dog that I can get in Placerville that is comparable to Bay area hot dog places like Casper's or other hot dog steamed beef hot Dogs. I have been here many years and just never went into streams and now that I have I will be back many many times. I will take a picture “
“This place gives you a sense of a historic feeling, hang town USA....the ambiance is awesome, it takes you back in time momentarily. The restaurant has an entrance to the bar, the bar is the same back in the 1900's just amazing. The service is even better, the waitress was very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious. We ordered the chicken sandwich with mushrooms. The sandwich was topped with pesto and cheese, with a soft brioche bread, the taste was phenomenal, must try. You have your option of potatoe chips or tater tots, we got the tots, it was a bit on the overcooked side. We also ordered the Bratwurst sandwich, the Dijon spread was overwhelming but very tasty. It is also topped with your choice of tater tots or chips.. I definitely would come back possible for happy hour, the ambiance alone is worth coming back, it also has a pool table, adults only for that.. I was very impressed overall !“
“This is the place to be when you're hungry. Good food, Large portions too. Good staff. Even the staff in the kitchen will help seat you when the host is not available. That was good PR service skills. My wait was about 2 minutes before I was escorted to a nice table.Recommend the chicken salad and/or the chicken sandwich with fries. Eat half & take the rest home in a box.I'd recommend breakfast/lunch. Dinner is nice, but I wait for those nights when Prime Rib is served. The building Diamond Springs Hotel is a historical building, which I enjoy 1800's/historical buildings.Especially if they're known to be haunted. Not saying that this building is, but I enjoy historical buildings.I was told upstairs is generally used for storage. I have yet to tour the entire building, of course, when they're not too busy.Restrooms are clean.Parking is good. This place is worth a revisit.“
“Best burger we've had since moving to California. The cheesecake shake is ridiculously good. The stuffed burgers are definitely the way to go. Service was perfect. Food was great. Prices were fair. We'll be back.Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free bun option is always nice to see.Parking: Love the patio seating and general vibeKid-friendliness: Looks to be very kid friendlyWheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair ramp present“
“I was looking for a different experience than normal and that is exactly what I found. The building has a lot of history to it and is lovely to experience. Every one of the staff that were there were so friendly and made sure that we wanted for nothing. The breakfast was fantastic.“
“Had dinner there tonight - the first time we've been there since it was remodeled. I think it was closed for well more than a year. The food was great and the service was outstanding. It is primarily a steakhouse, but has a good selection of seafood and pasta as well. The bar looks really nice, too. I only gave it four stars for atmosphere because the open fireplace (which is a very cool thing in winter) was giving off some smoke. We will definitely go back now that we have tried it.“
“Good food, great service! My husband and I were walking main on a Friday night looking for a place to eat. After attempting a couple other places that were packed and being ignored we walked into Franny’s. We were acknowledged (wow) and given a spot upstairs over looking the street. It was cozy and not super loud. Our server was fantastic! The half chicken with chipotle sauce and sweet potato was amazing! Just a hint of spice against that sweet potato. So good. We also got the chocolate mousse for dessert. It was sweeter than expected but delicious. We will definitely be back.“
“We stumbled upon this cute shop as we were walking down Main Street Placerville. We wanted something to quench the thirst without sugar! This was the place! I had their Lavender Green Tea iced no sweetener and a mini egg burrito. It's very small so perfect for a snack. Only bummer was there was hardly any egg, mostly potatoes and sausage. Nice mild salsa gave it the flavor it needed. I would recommend but maybe ask for extra egg? Service was quick and friendly! I would definitely come back!“
“Owner Brian super friendly.Excellent breakfast! Country fried steak w/country potatoes & scrambled eggs biscuits & gravy PERFECT YUMM! My daughter had the french toast eggs crispy bacon & she loved it! I reccommend eating breakfast here.Wheelchair accessibility: Ground level“
“Cecilia the waiter was NOT HAPPY AT ALL. It's our first time here and we heard great things about it. When customers walk in to a place it's nice to greet them with..."Thank you for coming in, what can bring you to drink, we have an awesome selection from coffee to sodas"... or something along those lines. I did not want to leave a tip since 80% of the time she sat down. I asked for the check, so she brings her credit card machine slides my card and waits. For me to fill out the tip and signature portion. I told her I'm not ready to leave but I'll leave it in the table once I'm done.I left her a $1.80 tip since that what she worked for. She looked at it and scuffed... I said exactly the type of service you've provided.. nextime pay attention to your customers in stead of snapchat or YouTube You'll make a bigger tip. She just shrugged her shoulder like she did not care. She'll care when she'll be making no tips by the end of the month.Food was good tho.Place is very retro we liked it.Coffee is served HOT and its a big cup with refills.Cook is very quick and has flavor.Service from Cecelia is bobobobo. If you she her name as for someone else.“
“I have ordered burgers to go from Bones Roadhouse on my last two trips to the Placerville, CA area. Both times the burgers were cooked and topped exactly as requested and ready when promised. The location appears to be a typical roadside local spot, and that's exactly what drew me to it. They pack each item in its own bag so it's easy to identify every person's order without having to open each burger. The burgers are juicy and delicious (you'll need extra napkins) and the fries and onion rings are both great as well. Next time I will try eating in and have one of their specialty cocktails, all of which sounded amazing.“
“I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Golden Waffle Cafe in Placerville, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience. I ordered the California omelet, and I can confidently say that it was one of the best omelets I've ever had. The combination of avocado, tomato, and melted cheese was simply divine, and the eggs were cooked to perfection. The potatoes that accompanied the omelet were seasoned just right, providing a delightful contrast in texture and flavor. The atmosphere of the cafe was cozy and inviting, with a friendly staff that made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. The service was prompt, and the waitstaff was attentive without being intrusive. I particularly appreciated the attention to detail, such as the fresh flowers on the tables and the personalized greetings from the owners.Overall, I would highly recommend The Golden Waffle Cafe to anyone looking for a delicious and satisfying meal in Placerville. The food is top-notch, the service is excellent, and the ambiance is warm and welcoming. I give The Golden Waffle Cafe a well-deserved 5-star rating, and I can't wait to go back and try more of their delicious offerings.“
“Priscilla is a wonderful waitress, she always takes such good care of my friends and myself. She is so attentive and thorough. We always take up the whole back area tables, and she gives us individual bills which definitely helps. It's a fun place with juke box music and a great place for any meal or occasion. Definitely recommend if you haven't been!Parking: Easy to find a spot right out front of the diner.“
“Whenever we are in Placerville bricks is a must for dining.Every time we’ve been here we get seated right away and we always end up with the best service. Today we ended up ordering a little bit of everything from fried green tomatoes to a Santa Fe turkey melt working our way through a white chocolate mousse infused with port wine and indulged on a Tito‘s flight. As always, everything was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend bricks when you’re in the Placerville area.Parking: There is limited street parking but there is also a few lots to park in. I’ve never had an issue finding parking.Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly“
“We stopped for a quick lunch. We chose to sit outside. The food was great! We all had salads. I had the steak salad, which was awesome! Apparently, they are going to have live music on Wednesday afternoons for Happy Hour. Plan to go back and check it out.“
“Went to Placerville just to try this restaraunt. Had breakfast that was delicious and the offer mimosas. I had original Joe's scramble and my wife had the farmers skillet. Both were flavorful and large portions. Definitely going back to explore the menu some more.Parking: The lot is small so it fills up fast“
“Visitng town and family recommended The Forester for dinner. From them, I found out the history of the Past and Present of the restaurant. The old location, the new and still shifting into full gear in some parts. Noting they are getting the flow going, sometimes felt a little hectic, but there were so many redeeming points. My favorite was having a small conversation with Helen after dinner. Bill she mentioned you as well! I had the Jagersnitzel w Kraut and Dumpling w Gravy. If you've experienced true German food before. You can appreciate this food greatly. The dumpling was spectacular, the pork was juicy while breading was soaking in the greatness from the mushroom gravy. We only visit a couple times of year and will make this a staple. Bill & Helen, keep on doing what youre doing. Its hard to run a business, let alone make one feel like home with good food."Showing love from Southern California ?"“
