“This "Angels Bowl" (essentially a deconstructed hot chicken sandwich with bread swapped for crinkle fries) was everything I had hoped it would be. As a transplant who regularly grumbles at the cost-to-quality/portion size ratio of Hollywood restaurants, I feel this was good value. 2nd highest spice level was enough to get this Midwest-Polish boy sweating, but happy-sweating. Friendly staff. I'll be back.“
“This is one of situations where I "found" this place again after many years. Used to come her back in the 80s when I worked in this area. Almost weekly. Great big menu, lots of great sandwiches, soup, chili and even dessert. Meatless sandwich options too. Ordered the Tomato Bisque Soup, an amazing Turkey Avocado on focaccia and a Pastrami Sandwich, on rye made the traditional way. No pickles. Great little shop, family owned. When he described his father I knew that was the man I used to order from back in the day. Walls show plaques and pictures showing their contributions to the community such as sponsoring many baseball teams and a proud sponsor of dozens of Rose Bowl Parade floats. A grade, clean, plenty of seating but for the most part I think people get it to go. Still can't believe it's been here for this long and I was here 40 yrs ago. . Yelp hours are incorrect, better call and see. Also closed Sunday and Monday now. Prices were very cheap, however the owner stated the menu is changing soon. Seems like this is the last place to raise their prices like everyone else's. Def worth a visit. When back the next day and got a Tuna Melt which was also good. Best around. Nostalgia helps“
“This hole in the wall is amazing. The sandwiches were delicious and fresh. They have a diverse menu with different ingredients and breads. Their house made smoothies and drinks were so refreshing. I highly recommend this place and am very excited for it to be part of the HP community.“
“Very good pastrami dip, from the videos I thought it would be more stacked but it was fine, nice pickle slice with order, we also got a brisket sandwich, my father complained it was very greasy but had a great flavor, if I ever come back I will try the pastrami on rye it looked wonderful ✌️“
“This place is like a wayyyyy better Panera with delicious sandwiches and salads. Also a lot of veggie options and customization in the app. This will become a fairly regular place for us after recent visits. The tofu banh mi is awesome and the salads have so much great tasting and healthy stuff in them. The Japanese chili dressing should be bottled! Definitely try this spot out.“
“Community favorite for sure. Small hole in the wall place and. Service is always great, everyone greets you with a smile and prepares yummy food!!!!! Love this place!!!! The hot pastrami sandwich is my all time favorite and my usual lol . It is a little bit pricey, but totally worth it!!!!“
“As nostalgic to Los Angeles as you are going to get. A Family favorite since the 70’s. Beef with cheddar full dip with plenty of their hot mustard (buy a bottle for home) is the go to, pickle is a must and all sides including pickled eggs are delicious and interchangeable. Arnold Palmer or a beer on tap. Get some Pie!Parking: Two free lots to choose from and metered street parking, weekends and Dodgers games will impact availability.Kid-friendliness: Total Family Atmosphere“
“I've passed the sandwich, place a couple of times before I finally placed an order for pick up because there's usually a crowd waiting inside when I passed by and I wanted to avoid that long wait. So I placed an order for three sandwiches for me and my department for pick up more than an hour in advance. When I get there, they seem busy, and I let them know that I am picking up an order that I placed online and it took them only a moment to find my order and tell me that it was gonna be another 15 minutes til it was ready. So I wait on one of the seats outside 15 minutes and then go back inside, and my order isn't bagged yet. As I'm waiting, someone else comes up because she had called a correction in to her online order. Yes, this review is a bit tedious, but that's what it was like to get my sandwiches which were delicious by the way. Short story long, order in advance and show up 20 minutes late.“
“First time visiting and first time trying a chopped cheese... loved it! It was very cheesy, had fresh vegetables, quality beef, and the bread had a nice crunch and chew to it. It's a pretty decent sized sandwich and cost around $17. The employee at the register was super cool and gave us a run down of the menu and gave their recommendations.Seating inside is kinda first come first serve, so just grab a table if you see one open. There might also be tables set up outside to eat right on the sidewalk, but it'd be a bit noisy because of Sunset. We went for lunch on a weekend and it was pretty busy!“
“One of the best sandwich spots in LA. I come here at least twice a week (or to the slauson location). The only sandwich shop that offers turkey pastrami and its fantastic. All their offerings are great as I tried everything on the menu. Highly recommended and great for lunch. I sometimes order two sandwiches so I can eat it after work as well.“
“Best sandwich ever. This place gave me delusions of grandeur because the chef is so friendly I thought I was special for a minute there. The line gets long but it moves pretty fast. If you only have 30 minutes for lunch you should go later on when it has cooled off a little and hope he still has mozzarella. No, I didn't forget! But I forgive because that is how special and magnanimous I am. Shoot. There I go again.“
“Excellent service and delicious sandwiches! I have been eating at Lee’s Hoagie House for decades and the food is consistently delicious! Their marinated chicken hoagie and vegetarian sandwiches are the best sandwiches I’ve ever eaten. Be sure to get them with the onions and peppers. Amazing!Vegetarian options: I crave the vegetarian sandwich and had one about a month ago. The sandwiches are consistently delicious. The bread is fresh and their unique sides and their quick and friendly service make this restaurant a go-to for lunch.“
“I was very stressed about making a flight because my phone had just died when I got lunch here. The man at the counter (presumably the owner?) helped me open my new charger and showed me where to plug it in and my food came out super quick, all of which helped me feel more at ease. I ended up eating my tuna sub at the airport, and it was definitely better than anything I could have bought at the terminal! Thanks Submarine King for a happy ending to an otherwise stressful day :)“
“Food was great, server was amazing, little bit on a small size so if u come late you will have to wait. Only complaint would be meat being not enough salty but thats personal preferenc, so your milage may very. Will def come back... oh n price is good.Parking: Right next to the building“
“Went there for the first time today with the husband. The place was great had a good atmosphere. The employees where great handled the food properly, quick, friendly. The food was ok, nothing special about it. To me it lacks a bit of seasonings on their fries. We got a double cheeseburger, chili cheese fries with pastrami and pastrami sandwich. The pastrami sandwichs what what I felt was the best. And like I mentioned the service and their organization skills where great! Talk about teamwork. ?“
“We made a quick trip to LA and someone suggested Fat Sal’s Deli for lunch. Oh. My. GADS! It was so good! The servers and the cooks were so amazing, friendly and engaging. We had a great time and I definitely recommend this great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner!“
“First off, awesome staff. They were so helpful and friendly. I ordered a king Ruben. It was so good as well as the potato salad. It's a cut little shop. I personally can't wait to try a different sandwich. Ambiance bright and airy.“
“Just drove in from San Antonio and stopped in for a bite to eat and we're so glad we did! The Philly cheesesteak was delicious, especially with the jalapeños to give it a little kick. The house salad was super fresh, crisp lettuce and the pepperoni pizza was amazing (crunchy crust).“
“You never go wrong eating at The Hat! Whether you're a burger or sandwich lover..you'll find something delicious to enjoy. If you love French fries..and who doesn't...The Hat has a variety of fries cooked to order... some to consider: pastrami fries, chili fries, chili-cheese fries, gravy-covered fries, and more.. plus any other toppings you can think of.. like onion, tomato, pickles... and it goes on and on. Enjoy!“
“My husband and I try all of the different bánh mì places in San Gabriel Valley. The sandwiches here are a great although I wouldn’t say they’re necessarily the absolute best, they’re definitely top-tier what I really liked with some of the other stuff they offered like the pork meatballs, and some of the other skewer items. It reminds me of the food I ate growing up in Thailand, and I really love the southeast Asian food it’s very authentic and taste great.“
“why go to open market for the bahn mi when u can go here, its literally so fire and 10x better than expensive open market. plus, open market shreds ur gums, i ate this bahn mi so fast i couldnt get a pic #thanks (also took like 10 min for my sammy, where at open market... it took 30+)“
“My office is at the Row. Took me months to try this place but so happy I finally did! Definitely my favorite slice on the West Coast! Favorites are the salami, red and lemon slices. Perfect crust and huge slices for $5-$6. Need to try a sandwich next!“
“Giamela's is a classic go to and has been around for so many years! Consistent quality subs generously topped with diced onion and pickle (if you opt for it). Always a treat and blows away the chain sub "shops". The only downside for some my be that it's cash only.“
“This place has a really good pastrami sandwich. They have special sodas you don't see often, and the sandwiches are always fat. I ordered a small fry and a small onion ring, and they were huge. The fries weren't too brag worthy, but the onion rings were crisp and delicious.“
“Wax Paper Chinatown brings the same excellent sandwiches that you can get in Frogtown to a different part of LA. I usually go to the Frogtown location if I'm craving one of their sandwiches, but if I'm nearby or want a sandwich only offered on the Chinatown menu, then I order from here. There's some seating in the shared hallway area if you decide to dine in, and I've always found the service to be friendly and efficient. The Garth Trinidad is one of my favorite turkey sandwiches, combining a slightly spicy cabbage slaw with roasted turkey and aioli. Just writing about this sandwich makes me think I'm quite overdue for a Wax Paper order!“
“The sandwiches are to die for. They use the freshest ingredients and it feels as though the sandwiches are made with love. I love eating a Banh Mi and although their interpretation is not traditional. It is really a home run and worth a try. I had trouble paying as my Apple Pay wasn't working. The guy working the register was so kind to me and said they can give one free sandwich per a day to those in need or whatever. It was my lucky night. I don't like to owe or receive hand outs. I returned with cash the next day I worked in that area. I offered to pay for the sandwich and he remembered me, but they couldn't accept the money because it would affect the till. I was insisting to give them the money to make it right. So the manager said that I could put it in the tip jar if I'd like and that's what I did. I'm not looking for praise or anything. This is what happened. I was really touched by their kindness and generosity. I will be sure to patronize this restaurant again and bring my wallet next time in case I mess up using Apple Pay again“
“Great pizza Giamelas Atwater Village. They don’t charge you $30 for a pizza so I come here now. Italian sandwich was great too, but i didn’t like that the tomatoes and pickles were diced so every time I’d bite into it everything all came out. Thank you!“
“This little place was such a vibe! The man working was so sweet and it was truly just a “feel good” homey atmosphere. && the FOOD?! 10/10 . This man made one hell of a sandwich ?I will definitely be coming back to this place! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“
“I was looking for a quick, because their was a parking space right out front (never happens) I decided to try Mendocino Farms. I had, perhaps, the best sandwich I have ever had. I think it was called the chemichiri steak sandwich. It was on a toasted bun and had a caramelized onion jam that added a note of sweetness. So good!!! It was so good that I told 2 different employees that my sandwich was wonderful. I would recommend to anyone! Is there one in Phoenix?“
“Tasty Banh Mis. I always get the sardine along with either the pork or chicken. All made fresh to order. They include a small au jus of the specific Banh Mi you order-nice touch. ? Parking is a challenge since it right on Hyperion so if you see a spot, take it.“
“I love love love this place! The sandwiches are so simple but the ingredient pairings are just chefs kiss ✨ Tommy really knows what he’s doing. My typical go to is the Ironwood with turkey and I like to get the 43rd Ave as a dessert sandwich ?The 43rd isn’t always on the menu but I can confirm that they always have the ingredients.Parking: As of Mar ‘24, parking is free“
“Marie's feels like a little staple of DTLA lunchtime. Their sandwiches are superb. Salads are spectacular. Service is supreme. This really is a lovely little deli owned by some lovely people who deserve support so that they can continue to provide this wonderful service to DTLA as long as they want to.“
“The best Vietnamese coffee I’ve had so far, tasted more like a chocolate milkshake!!!Great sandwiches and eggrolls as well. Thank you for the wonderful service we had today after seeing AGT!Parking: Free parking in frontKid-friendliness: YesWheelchair accessibility: Yes“
“definitely still the reigning champs of the breakfast sandwich world! This right here is the Fairfax with no caramelized onions and I added arugula, turkey sausage, and bacon; also has their beautifully soft scrambled eggs with a slice of melted cheddar cheese and spicy mayo on a warm brioche bun! The eggs are super fluffy paired with that thick cut bacon and a turkey sausage that's never overcooked! These pairings work so well together, it's unbelievable how great of a sandwich this is! Also got an order of the truffle hash browns! Last time I was here they didn't have hash browns and it pissed me off cause they're be perfect. As I thought PERFECT and what puts them over the top is the truffle grab some with your sandwich and you'll see exactly what I mean! Cool kinda hipster place where you can have breakfast and do school work or work work on your laptop. Service was great per usual, for the girls name at the register but she was great!“
“Came here with a friend who suggested this place. I am now in love. I got the Italian and it was great - best pickles I've ever had on a sandwich. Would come here again for them alone! Service was pretty quick and we sat outside to enjoy our sandwiches. Looking forward to coming again!“
“Sandwich place by the mall. I loved the bread and the drizzle was particularly sweet and tasty. The personnel is also very nice and I like that they have a closed off outdoor seating area.Vegetarian options: They have plenty of vegetarian options.Parking: The mall has parking so you can just do that. There's some spots on the street but they're time limited.“
“Betty and her team catered a very special dinner at my house and then a pool party / brunch the next day. This was the single best experience with a caterer I’ve had in all my party planning years — great food, super collaborative (and helpful) planning, highly tailored and themed menu with tremendous creativity and a BLAST having them serve the party. The themed menu and decor were the literal talk of the party and all my friends are following up asking for her contact info. Simply fanstastic.“
“First off love the workers! Super fun, nice, energetic and way on pointIn a super convenient location and super clean restaurant! There’s inside and outside seating and best of all delciousssss sandwichesYou can build your own or order from their vast menu of delicious stoner concoctionsThey also give away free apple caramel lollipops and blueberry blow pops!Seriously my new sandwich place for sure“
“Tony's has been a top sandwich spot for me. I don't usually eat sandwiches, but when I do, this place is the best. My top favorite sandwich is the pastrami with avocado. The Mexican tuna sandwich is excellent also. You can't go wrong with a sandwich from Tony's. The area is okay. There's plenty of parking in the back lot and street parking.“
“I had the Godfather it's the first sandwich listed, and it was delicious! My homie Hull,J, took me here. I drove from Palm Springs to his pad in Downey, and he kept talking about it. It's all about the bread! every 20 minutes fresh bread. So we made the trek he got the turkey and wished he had gotten the Godfather! Good times, great food, bread, and location. Thanks guys ??Parking: Be patient, I know that you are hungry, Stay off device ?and be respectful to others, 1❤️“
“I really love Lokal! I work in a building near to it and it has been my go-to spot for the last 2 years. They have been my saving grace, and I'm incredibly sad to see they are closing. I am just one person but a lot of us really enjoy their food and their company! Please don't close I always get a quick break when they are there, and now I won't be able to.“
“Super great place. Came here for the first time yesterday to get some donuts for my coworkers and everyone loved them, I especially loved the crumb donut. Came by this morning and got turkey, egg, cheese croissant sandwich and it's huge, delicious, and very fair price! The staff are super friendly and very pleasant in the morning. It's really nice coming in the morning and being greeted by them. The guy working there in the morning was also very helpful and accommodating when I asked him to just give me a random assortment of 2 dozen donuts. I think I'll make this my go to spot if I need something to eat before work since it's way better food and WAY better price than Starbucks or McDonald's these days.“
“Patrick has the Best service ever compared to other locations they’re always welcoming making conversation my sub was great as well the bacon was perfect, these guys are well trained and need a raise!!! I’ll be making the extra drive from miracle mile just to this “
“OMG!!! The FLAVORS - so good and on point. Went with friends. Each of us had a different sandwich. Had a bite of each, each of them had a distinct flavorful taste. Definitely making this one of my top go-tos! Nathan and his wife know how to make amazing sandwiches!“
“Than Huu makes an excellent Bahn Mi. The baguette is perfect, the ingredients are simple and fresh and there are basically two items on the menu. Bahn Mi and soup; the do have a drink and tea menu as well. The service is very kind, friendly and gracious. Than Huu does have little stools and tables in the middle of an asian bazaar in Chinatown.“
“I recently visited Mendocino Farms in Burbank after a late evening flight into the airport and was pleasantly surprised by the delightful experience. From the moment I stepped in, the warm and friendly staff made me feel welcome. My favorite dish of the night was the Avocado & Quinoa Superfood Ensalada. The combination of fresh ingredients, the flavorful quinoa, and the amazing dressing was simply divine. I'd come back to Mendocino Farms just for this salad alone! As the evening progressed, I noticed the staff starting to clean up, but when I asked for to-go containers so I could tailgate and enjoy my meal elsewhere, they were extremely accommodating. Their willingness to go the extra mile truly made the experience memorable. The atmosphere at Mendocino Farms is perfect for a casual yet enjoyable dining experience. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal with friendly service. I know I will definitely be back on my next visit to the area!“
“Few places surprise me, this one was one of them. We ordered the Ira glass with turkey, which was amazing. One sandwich was enough for two, a bite full had tons of flavor. We also got the pepper flavored chips, which tasted home made, lacked the pepper flavor. However, they were still very good. They have plenty of food and drink options. This place closes early, so you need to get here early. Parking can be hard, and seating is only available for a handful of people. But the experience is worth it.“
“The Carving Board is the most enhanced experience with food that's affordable and consistent. I've work at different restaurants: The Ark, London, BBQ joints and Bow Tie/Long Apron service in NYC, etc... Pound for pound, The Carving Board is the most enhanced experience with food that's affordable and consistent. When a place is this efficient, all else falls into place. And believe me, you want! all else to fall into place.“
“This is everything a Vietnamese sandwich shop should be. #1 or #3, iced coffee, a produce box on top of a milk crate for seating, and soap operas on the tele. It's a food stall. Nothing more, nothing less. Walked out of there with 3 Bahn Mis, iced coffee, and a soda for $25 (not including tip; don't forget to tip). Actually, I walked out without anything because...soaps operas. Just left with a memory of what I wish I had at home“
