“Stopped by randomly during a commute from SSF to Vallejo on a week day. A friendly gentleman was running the place. I ordered the traditional acai bowl which was $13 for a small size. It was different from other acai bowls I've had as it had condensed milk and powdered milk. I loved condensed milk and powdered milk as a kid - so my inner child was jumping for joy as I ate the entire thing. It was topped with fresh bananas and strawberries. Delicious. The entry area is handicapped accessible however parking might be a challenge depending on when you go. FYI there's always parking just across the street in the Walgreen's strip mall.“
“My daughter went vegan a few months ago and until today had mostly been sticking to the plant-based offerings at already familiar restaurants. I guess she suddenly realized that she can't live on vegetable sushi rolls, falafel wraps, and tofu ramen bowls forever, though, because she asked if we could try delivery from Golden Era. Of course we had to order the most popular dish on the menu: The lemongrass deluxe. This was by far our favorite of the three items we ordered. Next time we'll get one order each so that we don't have to fight over it. It featured thin pieces of soy "chicken" fried with a crispy, spicy coating. If you like the chewiest, crispiest pieces of orange or sesame chicken you will love this dish. I thought it would need some steamed rice but it came on a substantial bed of vegetables and was a complete dish on its own. We also ordered the garden vermicelli, which is their version of Vietnamese bun. It had all the flavors we were expecting - tart, savory, sweet - with slices of a soy protein that reminded me a lot of beef, both in flavor and texture (not visible in my photo). Their meat substitutes are so impressive. Finally, we had the Thai fried rice. I liked that the grains had a slightly chewy texture. It was a simple and tasty version of this dish. We are excited now to try everything else they have. It's a big relief to my daughter to be able to order freely without wondering if a dish has a surprise non-vegan ingredient. Here we can work our way from the top of the menu to the bottom with abandon. We will enjoy the delicious challenge!“

“We tried their brunch menu and was not disappointed. We ordered from the most friendly staff at the window the Andouille Shrimp and Grits which had creamy cheddar grits, the breakfast sandwich with home style fried potatoes, Banana Bread Louise which is banana bread french toast with Bananas Foster topping and a Grains in Purgatory bowl which had farrow. Roasted vegetables and two sunny side up eggs topped with chili crisp. I was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful the Grains in Purgatory was considering it was mostly vegetarian except for the eggs. It has the right amount of spice and the farrow had a nice bite. The breakfast sandwich had scrambled egg and thickly sliced bacon and arugula, the home fries that came on the side were perfectly seasoned and crispy. Those potatoes were the bomb! The gravy on the shrimp and grits was a little too salty for me but those creamy cheddar grits were so rich and smooth. Get the Banana Bread Louise to share for dessert! It's amazing! I look forward to trying items on their lunch menu especially the jerk salmon“
“Today's lunch: Mexican bowl with carnitas as the choice of meat. It's the super burrito filling served over romaine lettuce - for when I want to skip the tortilla wrapper. Nothing wrong with the tortillas, just nice to have a variation sometimes. If I want something smaller, than a regular burrito, I'll go with a super taco. The staff are super friendly and the shop is well-maintained. You can eat in, there are a number of tables and chairs and even a working TV. I visited before the lunch rush and almost had the place to myself. But I've been here when I've had to wait in line to place an order and then wait for the order - they do get slammed. Haven't tried any of the deli sandwiches or breakfast items... yet!“

Would come again if I'm around in the neighborhood. There was only 1 person working at the time I went, so keep that in mind to be okay with being patient when there's multiple customers!“

“Back in 2004, I was working at 333 Bush St. and this was our favorite salad lunch place. Now I'm on Battery St. and was happy to that this Cafe Venue location was still open. Too bad their Leidesdorff alley location is now closed. The salad chefs there were better and closer to me on Battery St. Today I had their breakfast burrito with sausage, + avocado & sour cream $1.50 = $10.95. O! such good memories! People absentmindedly linger near the door which can make ordering tougher. There's also the challenge of communicating your order while a powerful commercial food processor is running less than 10 feet away.“
“Stopped in for two banh mis after work today, combination for my husband and the lemongrass chicken for me, both very very good. He's pretty particular about his banh mis and he kept saying "this is a good banh mi, this is a really good banh mi!"
