“Doing tofu and mushrooms this well is VERY RARE. Most places miss the mark on the tofu marinade, and it can be bland. Not the case here! Bun & Mi are able to work umami miracles with the mushroom tofu noodle bowl. The vegan sauce (vinaigrette) is balanced and intentionally subtle but perfect in acidity and salinity and depth.

They clearly are a mom/pop place, with exceptional quality control. They have crushed ice, filtered water. This may sound like a strange thing to remark, BUT it makes all the difference! So many places are not paying attention to the little details, serving tap water that tastes like it came out of a fish bowl. This place is giving you a very intentional, humble and delicious meal. Doing a few menu items and doing them well!“

“The service was very friendly and accommodating, happy to adjust the order to my specifications which I always love. I was the only one at the restaurant and The order came very quickly. I ordered the vegetable pad Thai with no traditional broccoli, only Chinese broccoli and the order was correct and hot. I

am usually a 7 out of 10 on the American spicy scale so I ordered “medium spicy” and asked for extra but I didn’t need it, it was the perfect amount of spice for me so know it runs a bit higher on the scale.

The vegetables were clearly fresh and cooked to a light crunch. The flavor was there but I’m a bit of a tough crowd as I’ve been to Thailand and it’s difficult to find it’s equal. One thing, I’ve never seen the noodles orange like that, curious what made them that color.“

The noodles were so perfectly al dente, I think they whispered secrets of the universe to me. And the pork? The pork transcended the physical realm. I'm pretty sure I heard Enya singing softly as I took the first bite.
​I don't know who is running that kitchen, but they are clearly wizards, and they owe us all nothing. This isn't a meal; it's a personality transplant. I left Maru feeling like I could run a marathon, solve world peace, and probably parallel park perfectly on the first try.
​Warning: Do not eat this ramen if you have anything important scheduled immediately afterward, because you will spend the next hour staring blissfully into the middle distance, wondering how anything else in your life could possibly matter now.

“One of several new malatang places in the area, Bruin Bowl is not a large place, but they seem to have a solid selection of meats, veggies, noodles, and seafood despite their modest size. Both the bone broth and the chicken/fish maw soup bases are pretty tasty too. Excellent option if you're in the area.“

“I was here before the new owners and the food and service was OK but not good. Ever sine the new owners took over the pho here is the best I've tasted in the valley. Service is good, clean tables, and all the ingredients are fresh. They always give you 4 limes and condiments which I love. And they don't skimp out on the napkins. I go here every Friday. “Hole in the wall teriyaki place. You order at the counter, you pick up your food, you clean up your own table after eating. Easy free parking lot or street parking. They have a lunch special for $11.95 that includes chicken and rice with salad. They also have specials A, B, C and D that are around the $15 to $20 price range. I had the special C that had white rice, a big piece of chicken katsu, two pieces of chicken teriyaki, salad, two small onion rings and two dumplings for about $15.95. Not a bad value. You get a teriyaki sauce and hot sauce on the side. Their teriyaki sauce is very good here! The serving is very generous. I was not about to finish it in one sitting.“

“I randomly found this place when I was in the area. The restaurant itself is very cute and clean. The service was superb, we got seated right away and got our water right away. We ordered the noodles, XLB and popcorn chicken and cucumber salad. The XLB was so juicy and I didn’t expect a stream to shoot out from my mouth from the first bite into the XLB. Thankfully I didn’t hit anyone with the XLB juice. I will be back to try other dishes.“

“This was our first time dining here, and we were genuinely impressed. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Everyone was very attentive throughout our visit and checked in multiple times to make sure we were enjoying our meal.

The food was outstanding — full of flavor, well-cooked, and served in generous portions. We ordered Pad See Ew, Khua Kai, Wonton Soup, Crispy Pork with Chinese Broccoli, and the Yellow Curry. Everything tasted fresh and authentic. It easily fed our family of four, and we still had plenty of leftovers to take home.

If you’re craving truly authentic Thai food, this spot is definitely worth a visit. There was plenty of street parking available, and they also have additional parking behind the restaurant, which is super convenient.

“OMG!! The food is so clean!! I highly recommend the Honey Walnut Shrimp and Green Beans. The Beef Chow Mein is Killer. They have Imported Japanese beer that is hard to get anywhere else. “Decent place for Pho. Service was ok. Food came out very fast, but the waitress didnt speak much English and didnt understand my questions regarding my dietary restrictions with dairy. Also she never came back to check on us to see if we needed anything. I had to wave down the manager to get a to go container.

I order the #1 pho. It was good, one of the meats I didn't care for the taste at all. The rest of the meats were really good to good. Ordered the shrimp and pork spring role. It had no flavor and didnt taste any pork at all. All I saw was shrimp. Order the taro smoothie and wanted Boba, but she said no more boba. The taro smoothing was very good.

Also the pricing I thought was very fair. Paying was a bit strange. You dont get the bill you just walk up to the cashier and hand her your credit card, you dont get handed a bill. Very weird and I highly recommend changing your paying system. It's 2025 servers should have a portable kiosk for us to tap our card or phone to pay and see our bill before paying of course.

I hate to write a review for this restaurant because it’s the best kept secret on the westside and I’m afraid the word will get out and I’ll lose my little slice of Japanese food heaven. I’ve been going to Taiko for well over 20 years and the quality of food, cozy atmosphere and exceptional service has always been fantastic and keeps getting better. The garlic edamame is a must starter and the pumpkin tempura roll is addictive. The broth in the hot Kake bowls has always been perfect and the Udon and Soba are always fresh. They only have 4 or 5 small tables outside but they always go the extra mile to make sure there is a heater nearby on a chilly night. If you decide to get take-out you won’t be disappointed as every single item is wrapped with care and portions are equal to eating in. When I got Covid one winter this was the only take-out I could stomach and it made my heart sing. Service is always above and beyond.

They just raised their prices (2025) but still competitive. ENJOY!“
