“Friend found this Taiwanese food spot near the Convention Center, which worked out for a quick dinner before the KCON concert. Not quite your usual Taiwanese comfort food restaurant, but food-wise, it's close enough. I do see this being a convenient and nice dining location for those living in downtown LA.

So you order and pay first, and then take your number to a seat of your choice. Other than your food being brought to you, everything else is self-serve, from picking out your table, getting cutlery and water, etc. You also might want to have your party all here if you want to sit together to eat. Our other half of the group was still on their way, so my friend and I just ordered first and dined at a table for two.

I picked their minced pork on rice ($12) and passion fruit tea ($4.25 with no refills). My friend ordered the wonton noodle soup and I got to try some of hers. I liked what we both ordered and can confirm it's worth ordering again.

“Bun & Mi is a Vietnamese restaurant on Montana Ave in Santa Monica that serves the best Banh Mi in LA. Pop in through the window for a quick Vietnamese coffee, also the best in LA, or sit down at the counter for the full experience. “A small spot right on Venice Beach with about 20 seats—all outdoors, but they have heat lamps, so it’s pretty cozy. Prices are fair for the area at around $ 16 a plate. We showed up at 7 PM, just 30 minutes before closing, but still found a table easily and got served super quickly. The staff was really friendly! As for the pasta, it was okay, but a bit plain and nothing to write home about. Overall, a convenient and affordable option near the beach.“

“We ate at The Original Hoy-Ka Thai Noodle twice during our time in Hollywood, which should tell you how good it was. The food was consistently excellent, fresh, and full of flavor.
I went for the vegetarian version of their namesake Hoy-Ka noodle soup—wide rice noodles with tofu and mushrooms instead of chicken—and I seriously dreamed about it afterward. The broth had the right balance of spicy, sour, savory, and comforting, with noodles that held up perfectly. It was one of those bowls you keep thinking about long after you leave.
We also had the tofu drunken noodles and tofu R-Ka Prao, both ordered mild and without fish sauce or oyster sauce. Everything was spot on: flavorful, satisfying, and clearly made to order. The Ruam Mitr mixed-fruit dessert was a nice way to cool down at the end.
Parking on Sunset can be a little tricky, but they have valet parking in the back and it is tip-only. Do not let parking scare you off. We would happily eat here again on every trip to Hollywood.“

“I really enjoyed the food and it was not very pricey at all. Most of the plates, even the favorites at that, we’re about $15… Everything on the menu is Vegan 🙋🏽‍♂️“

“The Pho is enough for 2 people and it's delicious! We have had both the chicken and the Wagu beef. Also, the rice plates with fried rice and either Wagu beef or spicy pork is really good. We get one of each (Pho and rice plate) and share. We are quite full and satisfied when we finish! And the prices are very reasonable.“

“They have a sign in front that advertises $7 chow mein, which totally got my friend. It was definitely a heaping portion still of noodles with a good Thai chili kick. I split it into two meals still (although I probably don’t eat a lot compared to a lot of people). A bit greasy and I wish there was more veg. It was savory but not overly salty.

I felt like it was missing a little bit of nuance in its sweetness but I can’t pin what was missing. There was definitely still MSG because I was thirsty after, so that’s not what it was missing.

The free bone broth is really refreshing (reminds me of sullungtang) and a good way to either start or end your meal.“

Indeed, their Takoyaki was amazing, Howard Yang! 😍 We had 2 seasonal specials, the Spicy Crispy Shrimp Roll and the cold Tan Tan ramen. Both were fantastic, albeit a bit too spicy for me. I absolutely love ramen, and, to me, what defines any bowl is the soup base, described by a very learned chef as "an intensely porky, opaque pale broth with a sticky-lipped intensity, with the rich, buttery texture of light cream; the best sports tiny nubbins of fat swimming around on their surface, a slick of mayu (black garlic oil) or chile-sesame paste, a handful of thin-sliced green onions, a soft-yolked soy-sauce tinged egg, and a few slices of meltingly tender chashu pork belly". The broth definitely reflected the events described, and the many hours spent in preparation, with a rich texture and flavour, complemented, but not over-powered by either the chili nor the garlic. It was a wonderful recommendation that we would order again! All in all, the evening that left us very satisfied in terms of having our hunger sated, and taste buds quite happy... the true test is whether we return, and, should we find ourselves back in the city, we would most definitely make a return trip to try other dishes!!“

“Ate here a few times now, my go to place when I feel like some jjajangmyon. Interior is clean and spacious. Order via the tablet setup on each table and water served by the bottle which is something different to other places. Very reasonably priced especially the jjajangmyon, and the food quality is also generally very good. We tried the fried dumplings, sa-cheon shrimp, jjajang fried rice and jjajangmyon. If there was one thing I'd give feedback about the food was that the jjajangmyon sauce was a little too thin and lacked a bit of seasoning.“
