“This place was a 10 upon walking in. Super Friendly and welcoming staff and great lunch specials. Portion sizes are opulent and food quality is superb. I happened upon this place, and will be a frequent patron. I highly recommend the Caterpillar roll.“

“Really good food. All the fish was very fresh. Not a very large place, but certainly better than some of the better known places in terms of food quality. Ushi is expensive for sure, but it seemed better value for portion size. This is my wife and my new favorite for sushi in Escondido.“

“I had a great time here, our waitress was very helpful (and very funny). I have a lot of food allergies including wheat, dairy, corn and SESAME and she helped me navigate my way to the rolls that sounded good with correct alterations. Together our table ordered 7 rolls and each were enjoyed by the ordered. Would def come back!“

“Today was our first time visiting, and to be perfectly honest, this will be our new go to for sushi, even though we live in Ramona. Everything from the appetizers to the drinks and service was great. It seems like it would be a great spot for game or fight nights as well!“

“Umai Sushi is a hidden gem! The sushi is always fresh and delicious—especially the baked salmon roll, which is hands-down the best I’ve ever had. The staff is super friendly, and the owners go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Great service, great food, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Highly recommend!“

“My family and I have been dining here almost weekly for the last 7 months. The food is phenomenal. It’s fresh, the dishes are innovative yet they offer traditional rolls. Honestly, their ribeye is my favorite dish. Ask for extra mushrooms and sauce- you’ll thank yourself for it. The owners are working there daily and are the sweetest people. My kids are sushi connoisseurs and have declared this their favorite place.“

“I’ve been a loyal customer for quite some time, even before the change in management. Sushi Ren has an extensive menu of classic and unique rolls that make each visit a fun adventure. Their food is always good. I especially love their generously cut salmon nigiri. The slices are massive. Only complaint is service. Their one team member has worked there for ages and continues to provide suboptimal service. His indifference and dawdling frustrates us at each visit. Otherwise, it’s a great neighborhood sushi spot.“

“Honestly, this was some of the best freaking sushi I have had in a while. I am traveling for work from Manhattan and I can’t get fish this fresh and delicious for under $120 and even then portions are miniscule. Absolutely blown away, stuffed, and dreaming of more for under $75“
