“I’ve been to this place twice now, and honestly if I had written a review right after my first visit, I probably would’ve given it 5 stars. The first time I came was about 1–2 years ago. We dined in, the restaurant wasn’t too busy, and our waitress was super friendly and gave us really good recommendations. The place itself is very spacious with both indoor and outdoor seating. One thing I absolutely LOVE is that they have a whole vegan section with so many options. We ordered the shishito peppers and vegetable gyoza as appetizers, and for my main I got the Vegan O’sider. Everything was so delicious that I couldn’t wait to come back. On my most recent visit, I ordered takeout and I got the gyoza roll and the shishito peppers again. The gyoza roll was honestly amazing, but I was a little disappointed with the peppers this time. The portion seemed noticeably smaller compared to my first visit, and they just didn’t taste quite as good as I remembered. I also noticed the prices have gone up quite a bit. Overall, I still really enjoy the food here, especially their vegan options, but the main downside for me now is the portion size compared to the price.“

“My husband and I were able to get a fast reservation with the Quick Omakase Experience. The experience was ~ 1 hour.

This was our second visit (first one was the full omakase, several years ago).

Majority of the group was already seated for a full Omakase experience. Chef TJ served us at a great pace even though we had a slightly different menu than the rest.

Fish was fresh and there was an option to add on more nigiri at the end.

I didn't think I ordered that much but was absolutely full when I ate everything. The Philadelphia roll had a generous amount of cream cheese. I'm definitely going back for more.“

“If you're in the mood for sushi this has got to be the place you go to. The fish was extremely fresh and melts in your mouth, the rice was perfectly textured and flavored, and the toppings/cream cheese was all well proportioned. Not to mention we were caught off guard with how large the sushi rolls were. Only got 4 rolls and had to take a few pieces home. 4 sushi rolls, a curry, an udon, gyoza, and drinks all for under 100 dollars, in California? You can't ask for better. This will be our go to spot for sushi for sure.“

Most of the sushi tasted fresh, and there was a nice variety going around the belt. A few plates took a little while to come back around, but nothing too frustrating. Staff were polite and kept checking to make sure everything was okay. Prices seemed fair for what you get. “Went to Kotobuki for the second time with my daughter and took take out home for my husband and mother in law. We got an avocado roll, miso soup, edamame. Rooibos tea. We took spicy tuna, crunchy roll and California roll home. We all enjoyed the food. The sushi rice was very well done. Perfect texture. The tempura crunchies were not overly greasy. Everything tastes so fresh. The flavors are very balanced. The atmosphere and the general vibe are very calming and peaceful. We will definitely be back.“

“By far the best sushi in RB. If you’re new to the area or consider yourself local. Their sushi is legit. Ive been to Japan and I can tell you their sushi is as authentic as it gets. Ive also traveled to Korea and I can tell you their bulgogi reminds of the time I visited. Abel makes the sushi roles (amazing) and Jenny the server is really nice and adds to the authenticity of the restaurant. 10/10 recommend! Must make a priority to visit and try their red dragon roll and bulgogi bowl. Beer glasses are always cold/frozen for fresh japanese beer (sapporo/asahi) available. They also have fresh kimchi. Best of Japanese and Korean food all in one spot. All this at reasonable prices in San Diego.“

“Just be aware that an automatic gratuity is added for groups of six or more. Great to see Japanese chefs and Japanese speaking staff at the izakaya. They offer authentic Japanese dishes that you don't often see at other places. The poke bowl and tuna bowl were really good. I love the teishoku style meals with miso soup, pickled veggies, and all the little side dishes. Miso soup was really good! Lots of variety on the menu! The staff were very friendly too.“

“Went here for late night ramen (arrived about 9:30pm). The Black Edition Ramen was tasty but get ready for garlic breath! I also had the Matcha Float, which was yummy. Someone else in our party got the Jubilee for $29, which is a great deal bc you get a 4 course meal plus a beverage. We also got the chicken curry and 2 other bowls of ramen. All great!“
