“A group of my friends and I went here last night for my birthday dinner. The server was very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. We had sushi rolls, nigiri and the yellowtail Kama was delicious. And our bill was very reasonable! Highly recommend!“

“My husband and I were able to get a fast reservation with the Quick Omakase Experience. The experience was ~ 1 hour.

This was our second visit (first one was the full omakase, several years ago).

Majority of the group was already seated for a full Omakase experience. Chef TJ served us at a great pace even though we had a slightly different menu than the rest.

Fish was fresh and there was an option to add on more nigiri at the end.

Chef TJ and staff were kind and refilled my tea throughout the night.“

Everything was so tasty! Salmon Kama was our favorite and I have never seen it on a happy hour menu before. Such a big piece that was so fatty and meaty! We ordered a few of those! It does take a while to make so allow time for this.

“My family and I love this sushi place. It offers real Japanese cuisine and hot sake. The prices are fare. The atmosphere is casual and family-friendly. So.etimes theres a wait. But not always. They have a second dinning room they'll open if it gets busy.“

“5 star is honestly not enough for this place. I tried their sandos and maki and they all amazing. Their egg sando and softshell crab sando are honestly so so good and I heard that their eggs are japanese premium egg as well. Their momo special maki and salmon maki are really good with fresh salmon and tuna. I heard the momo special maki also is their own invention from their Nobu chef which is very interesting! The store also feel very welcoming with cute decorations.“

“This was a grocery store with a more popular Japanese sushi.I love how they display their food with price tags that describe its flavor and how to best prepare or pair it! Price was great and taste so good for take home sushi.

“Amazing spot! Open really late and has a VARIETY of menu options ranging from grilled, to REALLY fresh sushi. The chefs made everything to our liking allowing us to customize a lot about their food. The main thing is they are amazing in all aspects of their cuisines from sushi to grilled. Went here all 4 nights we were in San Diego would really recommend this place!“

“This place was really good. I got a to-go order and was really surprised at how many extra sides I got along with my two rolls. I didn't think I ordered that much but was absolutely full when I ate everything. The Philadelphia roll had a generous amount of cream cheese. I'm definitely going back for more.“

“Absolutely amazing food! Me and my husband are a huge fan of tempura so we got the Crazy (our favorite), the shrimp Crunch, and the Dragon. All were amazing! Do not come here if you’re in a rush, there are only a few staff (all of which are so friendly and welcoming), and the place was busy even on a Wednesday night! Everything is made to order. Highly recommended and would definitely come again.“

“Went to Kotobuki for the second time with my daughter and took take out home for my husband and mother in law. We got an avocado roll, miso soup, edamame. Rooibos tea. We took spicy tuna, crunchy roll and California roll home. We all enjoyed the food. The sushi rice was very well done. Perfect texture. The tempura crunchies were not overly greasy. Everything tastes so fresh. The flavors are very balanced. The atmosphere and the general vibe are very calming and peaceful. We will definitely be back.“

“It’s been years since I last visited. It’s smaller and different. I ordered mostly sushi rolls and sashimi and they were good. I liked that sliced fish is bigger than rice for nigiri which is how it’s done in Japan. I ordered a bulgogi bibimbap from Korean menu. It’s good but not so much bulgogi in it. The service was ok, nothing special. I think waitress could be a bit more friendly. Overall, it’s a good place in the area.“

“Just be aware that an automatic gratuity is added for groups of six or more. Great to see Japanese chefs and Japanese speaking staff at the izakaya. They offer authentic Japanese dishes that you don't often see at other places. The poke bowl and tuna bowl were really good. I love the teishoku style meals with miso soup, pickled veggies, and all the little side dishes. Miso soup was really good! Lots of variety on the menu! The staff were very friendly too.“
