“Oh ma gawd, this place is fantastic! I had been looking for an all you can eat (AYCE) sushi joint since RB Sushi stopped offering AYCE after the pandemic. Fortunately this place is not a long drive from where I live in Escondido. One of the best things about Yakumi is they don't try to control my health by only offering low sodium soy sauce like many places do nowadays; they offer the red-bottled full sodium soy sauce! The sushi is delicious, as are the teriyaki chicken and the appetizers! Staff was very nice and attentive and the service was fast. They even serve water in fancy schmancy vacuum tumblers so it stays nice and cold! The bad news is that now I will spending more of my money on AYCE sushi since I found this place hahahahahahahaha ??????. Thanks, Yakumi Sushi! I'll see you again soon ?“
“Just stumbled upon this place after going to AMC for movie night. Was pleasant surprise. Service amazing. Had dragon roll, lots of eel. Had miso ramen. Better than most specialty ramen places. Great flavor and lots of meat and garnish. Bento box with chix teriyaki good. Recommend“
“The chicken katsu here is the best I’ve ever had in my entire life. The service is fantastic and the cooks are skilled and friendly. I love the cozy and warm atmosphere that this place provides, I look forward to going here whenever I’m in the area. THANK YOU GUYS!!!“
“We absolutely loved our experience here and would come back in a heartbeat. The attention to detail, small group setting, high quality fish, and excellent service blew us away. Such interesting and creative flavor combinations without overshadowing the beauty of the fish itself. I’ve never had an omakase experience quite like this and would definitely recommend you splurge and try it yourself!“
“My better half and I came here for a dinner date, and we had a very nice time. Oyster was fresh and large, and the yakitories were quite tasty, too. They had good selection of sakes of which we tried one and enjoyed. The only reason for the 4 stars was for a rather limited yakitory selections. I wish they had more seafood options such as shrimp or clams. Otherwise, my better half and I pigged out ($$$$, lol) and left satisfied. Reservation is pretty much required.“
“I've been here multiple times the past year, and they never fail to impress! The food is great, and being able to control your own portions for the sides is a huge plus. The music isn't deafening at all and the we were never left waiting to be served.“
“Had an amazing time at Harmony. We sat at the bar and had the omakaze menu. The quality of the fish was incredible and the staff was so friendly and helpful. Chef Mickey does a wonderful job pairing flavors that have you happy to the last bite. Highly recommend; this place is a gem!“
“I had the most amazing kimchi fried rice here today. The portion was super generous for the price of $12, and their chicken was so flavorful. I was able to have this dish for about two rounds of leftovers too! The staff at the front were quite warm and the food was made in about 10-15 minutes. The vibe inside is really cute, too. They have hanging plants all throughout, and they have lots of sunlight inside. Can't wait to try something else next time.“
“Good Japanese grocery store! I am so happy that it’s located in this area! I like Mitsuwa in general so it gives me comfort when I see it around! They are some restaurants in the store so you get to have hot japanese foods right there! :)Keep up the good work!Cheers ?“
“My husband and I decided to try this place on a whim since we were in the area. While it is a little on the pricey side, the food is completely worth it. They have the best spicy tuna I have ever had. It wasn't about nuking your taste buds, but a pleasant warmth that enhanced the taste of the tuna. Definitely order the Luna Lemon! We will have to come back because we saw the table next to us order some takoyaki and it looked amazing. I do recommend making reservations for weekend dinner, it was busy there!“
“Uncle Tetsu has become a pinnacle in my family home . This is my one true cheesecake love! I was there in the grand opening , and tried it for the first time. Now here I am still going to this day. The quality is never lacking and you can tell that the workers, put so much love and effort in those cheesecakes. I hope they know how appreciative I am of them. Thank you Uncle Tetsu for such delicious food!“
“My husband and I rarely go to sushi. Besides our favorite place back home because it’s usually such a disappointment. We decided to give this a try and I’m so glad that we did! Stephanie was phenomenal! ? The atmosphere was great and all of the food was delicious. We got a Bento box and two rolls and will definitely be back!“
“My new favorite local sushi spot! Great selection of rolls and great quality for the price! They also have combo options. I've enjoyed everything I've gotten so far. My favorite is the Lemon Cilantro roll. Gotta support my local small businesses!“
“Food is spot on every time we go. But the last few times our table has gotten iced out where none of our additional orders come, service is spotty at best, and it sort of feels like they're trying to kick us out. Just make sure your first round is huge.“
“One of the best in SD/convoy. Chef John owns both hidden fish omakase and this elevated Japanese izakaya and it hits the spot. You can order a la carte here and also get alcohol. They have everything seafood from scallops to pork belly rice bowl!!! The atmosphere is super calming and professional. The servers were very attentive and seemed like they knew what I needed at all times. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a fancy date night or with friends who want an ELEVATED IZAKAYA experience and for those who have good taste. 10/10 would come back again, & I heard they have a chef's course menu coming up so keep your eyes peeled!“
“Food is excellent here. It's a feast for your eyes as well as your stomach. The yellowtail Crudo is one of my favorites. Chef Nghi and his staff are top tier. One of the best sushi restaurants in San Diego. You won't be disappointed.“
“Im mad at myself for not coming here sooner. This is the place to go when you're craving Japanese katsu curry. The curry is delicious .The customized spice is perfect. Eggs are cooked perfectly. Definitely get some garlic naan to sop up the remaining curry.“
“I cannot say enough about Domo Kitchen. The food has been great and the service is always good. The Won Ton soup on a cold night is just the right thing.Parking: There's just so much going on in the mall that parking can be a challenge some times.“
“Delicious and artful shabu shabu for a great price. I loved the sukiyaki and shoyu broths and the great dipping sauce combinations. Read the instructions on the menu for some help! The egg is pasteurized so you can crack it in the bowl and use it as a dipping sauce for your hot meat bites. The yolk is the best part .The server is very skilled but he serves many people at once so he can be a bit short but he is kind. I left my ring in the bathroom and he saved it for me so I could pick it up the next day ☺️. Don't take it personally. The shabu shabu and experience is well worth it.“
“This place is one of my favorites in the list of hotpots. I have never tried their bbq because I have a favorite place for that but the hotpot is great and the options are as well. Totally recommended. It is a ayce. What else can you ask for?! You won't regret this place, and you'll totally come back.“
“It's a very unassuming place. The ambiance in this bistro is suitable for a nice lunch or dinner date--no loud music. The staff and their service are very superb. I've been looking everywhere for a good mentaiko pasta similar to what I had in Japan - and I found the place! They're very affordable as well. I highly recommend it.“
“A delicious omakase in San Diego! Shoutout to our cousin for taking us here!We had a reservation at 7:30PM for a Saturday evening meal. I believe we were sat on time and we got right into drinks and the course. Staff was friendly checking in on us and Chef TJ was fun, positive, and created a great omakase environment!I won't go into too much detail of each fish (as the menu can change with each service), but for the value, I thought it was an amazing meal!Parking is relatively easy to find in the plaza.I'm headed back to San Diego next week...so I'm going to have Matoi again :D twice in 2-3 weeks is my kind of vibe!“
“I've been craving some fish and this had really hit the spot! I had gotten the sashimi bowl and it was really satisfying, the fish was cut into larger strips and it was tender and it didn't have a strong fishy smell to it. The rice underneath was quite good as well it was flavorful without being overly vinegar-y. Also if anyone was wondering what the difference was between the sashimi bowl and the sashimi set with rice (both of which are the same price), it seems like there's more rice in the sashimi bowl and there's some crushed seaweed and sesame seeds on the sashimi bowl between the rice and the fish. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, I don't think I would bring more than 2-4 people with me.“
“We were doing errands in the area and I discovered this great sushi place hidden right by some office buildings. This place looks tiny on the outside but is the perfect fit for a nice lunch. The decorations and environment really sets the scene for the sushi. They have a great layout for lunch and a nice menu full of specials and numerous rolls. The waitress was great and had plenty of recommendations. We ordered a few rolls as well as a lunch special for our table. The food prices especially the lunch special offers all come with miso soup, salad, and the prices are great! They cater a lot to the local businesses. The rolls and food were delicious. Highly recommend this place for a perfect lunch and dinner place! Check it out!“
“Sipz has been around SD for ages. Think I ate there for first time in 2002-ish.Always consistent vegetarian Asian food. Lots of fake meat and vegan deserts and It’s all pretty good. The orange chicken is exactly what you want in orange “chicken”. Sweet, chewy and completely unhealthy. The veg pho and crispy chow mein are solid as well. Is it the best Thai, Chinese, Japanese food…well no. There’s plenty better out there. For someone who is a strict vegan though there’s few other places that have such a large menu of options. Oh and the veg sushi on the weekends is great.Vegetarian options: All vegetarian, mostly vegan“
“Bulgogi pancake and fried rice were particularly delicious. Rolls very good too. Service was good and friendly. Place had a nice vibe, and not too loud - possible to have a normal conversation over dinner without shouting over the music or other patrons. Will definitely be back.“
“We came on a very empty stomach, excited to try Japanese food in San Diego. Parking was the usual busy in the plaza on a Sunday but since it was only 11 am, we quickly found spots. There wasn't a wait at all and we sat outside. Service was fine and while this spot feels more hole in the wall with its setup and ambiance, the food was yummy! He ordered the beef curry udon and I ordered the mentaiko udon. The mentaiko was so creamy and popping with flavor! Thought unexpected, I liked the mushrooms. Noodles were cooked just right and it was very filling. He enjoyed his dish too so good on all fronts for us! Will definitely come back to try other dishes!“
“The food quality and the staff's service are top notch. However, the pricing is way off. After spending $150 on two people I was hungry so went to H Mark down the street and got a pastry. I also ate a spare jerky that was left in my car. The tea was delicious as well.Next time, I'll probably go to the Korean BBQ in the same shopping center and the two of us will eat and be full for 1/3 the price.“
“Kyodai means Brother. Oh, brother, this spot is on POINT. The service is solid. They don't bother you, you know... Which I find nice. They are busy, but not too busy, which is wonderful. Now, down to the food. I ordered the Sashimi lunch special, and I highly recommend it. The portions of each piece are a good size, fresh and tasty. It comes with a side of rice, house salad, and miso soup. It's such a great deal for a great lunch. Next time, I'll have to stop for dinner. Thanks.“
“Unassuming place with very yummy food. While their are slightly tastier places you have to wait very long to get a seat. Not here. Great food with little to no wait! Lots of food options as well.Parking: Very little parking in this area with many restaurants.Kid-friendliness: Friendly for kids.“
“I work at the jiffy lube across the way and this is the best dang lunch I've had all year. Really really good comfort food, at a good price, five stars for sure! It wasn't too crowded, even faster than a drive thru when I went. I'm not some teriyaki connoisseur but I know delicious when I taste it!“
“This place is awesome, the owner is so kind and friendly. I went a few months ago and was so kind. We had questions and he answered them and had such a great energy vibe. Seems like a one man show so you have to understand if it's "slow" but I mean what do you expect. It 's one guy so if you can get past that and put away your preferences for quick fast food and embrace that good food takes time. Then you'll really really enjoy this place. He also gave us Japanese candy for free which was awesome.“
“Amazing service and fresh food. Came here after hiking with our two year old and intended to take out, but he was so hungry we ended up eating at the tables outside. The kind staff checked on us the whole time and were very child friendly. We enjoyed an unagi bowl, chicken veggie bowl, avocado/salmon roll and Cali roll. Everything was solid and fresh. A very welcoming restaurant!“
“One the best places to eat in San diego. The grills are a little different from the usual Asian BBQ places. It gets dirty fast and it was a little cooking on one side of the grill more than the other.Food quality is AAA for sure.We ordered 5 to 7 types of meats and each times we enjoyed it.The rice ball is larger than expected. The shrimp was so fresh and huge.Garlic edamame, miso and gyoza were just as expected. The place is almost double the price of the other Asian BBQ places in the vicinity. At first I was a little hesitant but once the meets started coming and tasted them we knew the price was worth it for sure.Excellent service.Kids eat free.Refill drinks.Water is free.2 menu's 54$ and 65$ or so.“
“Love this place. San Diego has no shortage of Sushi, but we make a point of coming here as often as we can! Service is great, the staff are attentive and friendly, and they ever remember our favorite seat and order when we come in Nothing quite like a comfy local restaurant like Kaki to make you feel right at home. I highly recommend the Black Dragon roll, Salmon Sashimi, and some hot green tea“
“Delicious sushi at Niban! Nice casual restaurant to enjoy great seafood and relax. We had the Lion King Roll, albacore tuna supreme roll, eel hand roll, Dragon Roll, and gyoza. The service is very friendly and quick. They have an outdoor patio as well that’s dog friendly. Recommend!“
“Good ramen. Expensive. 18% service charge is automatically added to the cost of food ordered in lieu of tips. Service was great. Clean yet a small venue. Ramen broth is tasty though very thick and oily. Serving size is sufficient if you are not too hungry.“
“I'd keep coming back, especially for their spicy garlic edamame! I've ordered for take out and had a sit in moment and both times, I was very satisfied both in taste and customer experience. When I ordered for take out, the food was prepared a lot faster than others and packaged well, especially separating the "black" flavor, so I got to experience it blending with the base. When I came here for dine in, the staff were super friendly. Our ramen took a bit longer to come and the staff was super apologetic, she said she accidentally gave my husband's ramen to someone, hence the delay. I was super glad that they made us both wait so we can eat our ramen together, instead of giving mine then him waiting and just watching me. The staff was also super sorry so she offered a free drink on the house. We're both non-alcoholic drinkers so we just got soda. Overall, for my husband and I, it was a good experience. I give this place a 5-star because I will come back here again, and again. Not anytime soon though, but definitely will again lol.“
“The food is solid here, and we love coming before or after a movie. The service was great, they were very attentive. I had a Philly Roll and a Salmon Roll with crunchies added. Didn't love the crunchies it was a little too much. Next time I will just order without it, as I was trying to do something different. My hubby got a spicy mutha roll and spicy edamame and loved both. My kid got the OG ramen with all the toppings in the side except for the noodles. He like the broth but didn't finish all his noodles, but he's six.The ambiance is pretty middle of the road sushi joint. Clean, and spacious. It does have a few TV's so you won't miss the game if you are into sports. We come here quite a bit when we come up here for shopping or movies so will definitely be back.“
“The seafood is absolutely fresh!!!! I ordered the Chirashi bowl; the sashimi is so fresh!!!!Loved the side dishes in the chirashi bowl. The table had chicken karaage (yummy), 1 of the popular appetizers to get, and sashimi. The clam sashimi is absolutely fresh as well as the yellowtail and salmon!!!! Will definitely come back when I visit. The service is great as well.“
“This place was such a pleasant experience, the atmosphere was really nice. I felt like I was in Japan with the interior design. This place really cares about creating a nice clean atmosphere for their customers. Customer service was the best I could ask for, hostesses were kind and very helpful. The food was good and came out fast, we got the sukiyaki with udon noodles. Can't wait to try everything else on their menu. 10/10 would recommend to try this place instead of a regular chain.“
“Best sushi place ever! The food and service is amazing!! everyone is so nice and friendly. our food came out so fast and was soo good. The spicy garlic edamame is the best I’ve had and the Samurai roll was amazing ?? overall the place is so good me and my friends loved it! I recommend everyone to go!!“
“Such a great dining experience for sushi and sashimi. The fish is so fresh and the rolls are so unique, you will not be disappointed! My wife and I came here and we were provided with quick professional service while also getting recommendations that exceeded our expectations! I highly recommend this place and we will be back!“
“Amazing food! I don't normally leave any reviews but this place is fantastic. As a vegetarian is hard to find good meatless places to eat, but here they have options! I ordered the veggie crunch and it was delicious (and very filling) my husband ordered the caterpillar and he said it was delicious as well. If you are around Mira Mesa definitely stop by. That's all, keep up the good sushi! :))“
“Traditional Japanese sushi place that reminds me of Tokyo (except the portion sizes are bigger). The menu is mostly a la carte, so you can select the specific fish you want, not some random, slow-moving items they're trying to get rid of on a "chef's special." Service is fast and friendly, and prices are reasonable for the quality. They have yakitori, which is bbq chicken on a stick and a popular Tokyo street food that is a bit uncommon in the U.S..“
“I am in awe of the spicy ramen. Can’t eat it enough. I’ve never really enjoyed ramen but this place has made me a believer.Service has always been friendly and atmosphere is great for a quick dining experience.Parking can be tricky during peak dining times, lunch and dinner.“
“Great food, though I would have preferred less sauce on the chicken. My favorites of the evening were the garlic edamame and the katsudon. The only downside of our experience was the computerized menu. It was hard to navigate, though the staff was very patient in helping us.“
“The yakitori here is amazing, everything was flavorful. We loved everything we ordered & even wanted to get more. I love the concept of ordering on the iPad, makes everything easier & you can just order as you go. It does get pricey though, the yakitori ranges between $5-$15 but most come with 2 sticks. For 2 of us, we spent a little over $100. All in all, I'd still come back every once in a while when I'm craving some yakitori!“
“We had a blast here! 5 of us headed over and got a room (no waiting). The room was clean and spacious enough for us to even have a mini dance party. Great selection of songs in an easy to read binder. Two microphones with a great display. The food/drink options are limited so we just had drinks. But for a small fee they let you bring in your own. It's located in a busy shopping center so we ended up having to park on the street but it was a short walk in. We are looking forward to returning soon!“
“Amazing food and service. Been here a few times. The Bento boxes and ramen are both delicious. Would highly recommend.Parking: Plenty of parking in the Plaza parking lot.Kid-friendliness: Always very friendly and accomadating for our toddler.“
