Buddy… it tasted like someone grilled the most excellent steak known to mankind, whispered words of encouragement to it, motivated it to reach its full potential, then sliced it into bite-size greatness. The salsa inside? So good I considered taking it home and introducing it to my family. My son ordered the happy hour cheese quesadilla, which came out perfectly toasted—crispy golden edges, soft cheesy center. Basically a work of art Picasso wishes he painted. To our delight, we found that Chef Krisztian Karkus and his wife Alena (who has now moved out of the back of the house to charm guests as a friendly, attentive hostess/waitress) have made their restaurant's tastefully appointed new incarnation even better than we remembered it. What makes Tisza special is not just the wonderful food, drink and ambience but the sprinkling of rare (in California Wine Country) offerings on its menu, including mouthwatering Central and East European delights -- schnitzels, goulash, spaetzle, potato dumplings, wild mushrooms and, OH YES!, apple strudel -- reflecting the couple's background (he's Hungarian and she's Czech). Our first waiter was Ben and oh how we loved him so we always asked for him when we would go in. Sadly, Ben moved out of the area but then we got Danny! Another fantastic server and now we always ask for her! Can't vouch for the other servers but my guess would be that they are all good! Susie is the owner, and she is wonderful! She always mingles with her guests and even gets many of them up dancing! I hope she knows how much her regulars appreciate her! I'm so glad we found this place because we do not live out there. “This was our first time dining at Barndiva in this newer format. The original Barndiva used to be my favorite restaurant and I have missed it greatly. I'm still not sure why they switched from the pretty side of the restaurant to the current side. The outside garden is very nice, much nicer than sitting inside. The food was very good with the fresh peach croustade being outstanding! The menu is a bit limited so if you have any dietary restrictions or are a picky eater, I would definitely check it before you go. It was a wonderful evening and we will definitely be back, hopefully while they're still making the peach croustade!“

“Great local hangout with outdoor seating on the River!. This is a must stop for those hot days on the Russian River. It was 93 today, but the shade with a river breeze was comfortable on the deck. They have a good selection of house brews with daily specials and a few mixed cocktails. Bar food is available, it's the normal fair. Great quality, you won't be disappointed.“
