Daniel (Pen-for-Rent owner): "Five years after Tisza -- pronounced TEE-sa, one of our all-time favorite restaurants -- left its former location in Windsor, my wife and I finally checked out its beautiful new home in Healdsburg. To our delight, we found that Chef Krisztian Karkus and his wife Alena (who has now moved out of the back of the house to charm guests as a friendly, attentive hostess/waitress) have made their restaurant's tastefully appointed new incarnation even better than we remembered it. What makes Tisza special is not just the wonderful food, drink and ambience but the sprinkling of rare (in California Wine Country) offerings on its menu, including mouthwatering Central and East European delights -- schnitzels, goulash, spaetzle, potato dumplings, wild mushrooms and, OH YES!, apple strudel -- reflecting the couple's background (he's Hungarian and she's Czech). While we didn't manage to sample everything that tempted us in this first of what will surely be many return visits, we'd be remiss if we didn't single out for high praise the house-smoked salmon with dill mustard sauce, pickled mustard seed and crème fraiche served over potato latkes. We think this fabulous starter might be more aptly named "salmon ambrosia." (If anyone can transform a fish into food for the gods, Krisztian's your guy!) “We had a great prix fixe meal of 3 courses but the also offer 5 courses. No bad selections except for the cauliflower steak. I don’t think that is worth a steak or shrimp pasta but that is my opinion. Outdoor dining is available and they have heaters by the wall of sliding windows that open up totally he outside. Awesome deserts. I had the cookie butter cheesecake. I died and went to heaven.“

Strongly Suggest even if we do not have room at the end we always order the ItsNotA ‘Snickers Bar’ Deux. “Great food and service. Strong Japanese influence with local ingredients. Wine was great but expensive compared to European three star spots. Knowledge about the food varied among the waiters - one told us the cabbage dish was all fresh cabbage, then ten minutes later we listened to a different waiter tell the table next to us that it was half fermented cabbage (and that was a pattern). Duck was a highlight - blew EMP duck out of the water. I appreciated the use of sound dampening materials on the interior.“

“I don't live in Santa Rosa any more, I haven't in ~20 years but I grew up there and EVERYONE knows Sam's! I was in town for the holidays and went there for lunch with a friend. The menu is enormous and while I was tempted by the all day breakfast, I landed on a French Dip sandwich that I had been craving. If you are anywhere in the area, stop by, you'll be glad you did!

Kid-friendliness: Family friendly restaurant - be sure to check out the staff's name tags! Reminded me of my first job working at Camp Wa-Tam. ;-)“

“My hubby and I enjoyed this cafe. We came for breakfast about 6am. Looking at it from the outside, you may not think much of it. We were thinking about going to Denny’s. We were very happy that we chose to try Carlos Cafe. I was reading a review and I saw some of the pics, so I decided we should try it out. Thank you Carlos for the hospitality and the thanks chef for the delicious food. Hearty and Tasty. I ordered their Enchilada Omelette and the side of (2) pork chops, Hubby ordered (2) Pork Chop with eggs and a side of corned beef hash. Everything was great. Yes, we are not small eaters.

“Perfect example of why the dining scene in Healdsburg is so respected and beloved. These gents are true chefs. Potatoes are clearly locally grown, they are so fresh and creamy on the inside, perfect outside crisp.

The chili cheese fries include their homemade chili - it's the best chili I've ever had.

Then there's the burgers. Absolute monster burgers and the flavors of each are so on point, they have like twenty different burgers.

Malted shakes and their speciality shakes like the Valentine's shake are amazing too.

The food here is made to order. Expect refined, high quality food but it does take some time to do it right - and they do it perfectly. Easily the best burger shack I've ever been too.“

We found a calm and peaceful place. The menu wasn't deep with options. What was there was excellent. Order at the counter and it's delivered to your table. Staff were friendly and helpful. We e joked our selections. Portions were fair. Felt a little expensive, $20 per person.“

I just wanted a water and salsa and was looking the whole meal for an employee. made eye contact with our server and she ignored me 3 times, then brought our check and said you can pay whenever. not even how was the food. my husband had to get me my water as he fully finished his food while I was still trying to stall because I wanted salsa on my 25$ omelet. 😕“

Fun to watch people skate while munching on yummy snacks and drinking hot cocoa. Waiting in line took awhile, it was a crowded Saturday afternoon, but once we put our orders in, it was a short wait. Not too much money. Food was filling and tasted just fine. You spend just as much, or more at McDonald’s for less quality. Recommend coming here and stay for the ice skating !“
