“3.5 stars rounded up
No wait on a Saturday when they opened at 11am.
Very friendly service. Large portion sizes so 4 dishes were more than enough for 5 of us.
Bamboo Shoot Shredded Pork - this was an unique item, I've never seen this anywhere before. The pork was tender and had good flavor. The bamboo shoots were soft and had good texture but not as much flavor as the pork.
Braised Tofu or whatever it is called on the menu- looks salty because of the dark color but it was“

“Have been enjoying this dim sum gem for several years now when visiting family in the Bay Area, and it is unquestionably the most delicious I have had the privilege of encountering. I say this having grown up in Flushing, Queens and living in both Mainland China (and Hong Kong) for over twenty years since. I have been eating dim sum weekly for probably 45 years or more. I have been to Michelin rated dim sum restaurants and the most famous/notable eateries in both NYC and San Francisco. Pearl Bay is hands down my favorite. It has a really extensive choice of dishes. The food is fresh and uses some really high quality ingredients. My only (small) criticism is the quality of the hot sauce, which I prefer mixed with red bean paste rather than sriracha. But next time I may bring my own. This place is perfect for large parties. You can make reservations too, so why are you waiting?! And the staff are lovely, both friendly, quick and accommodating. Will gladly look forward to returning at some point in the future. Thank you (again) Pearl Bay!“

“The dim sum portions were all quite generous, and everything tasted great. It’s definitely worth trying a variety of dishes. The only downside was the BBQ pork bun—the dough was a bit tough and could use some improvement. But everything else was absolutely delicious!“

“Always good. I come here to eat whenever I'm in the area. Best canto food and in a clean and nice location with plenty of parking. Is located in the parking lot of a business area, which I find kind of weird but totally awesome for the fact that it's easily accessible.
This place also serves dim sum thoughout the day, which is a total plus in my opinion because most places don't serve them some past 2:00 p.m.
The dim sum is actually pretty legit and traditional. You can get pretty busy during lunch time, but it moves pretty quickly.“

“they have great private dining room and set menu options if you have a group and are hosting an event, banquet, celebration, etc. even my mom was impressed by the food, and her bar is quite high. bravo to HL Milpitas - thank you!!
separately - the dim sum is great
and important to some, perhaps: high ceilings, well lit, very clean compared to some of its competitors!“

“It is so great to find that hayward finally has some good Chinese bbq! I no longer have to drive far when I crave for some roasted duck! And that was exactly what I ordered today. It is fresh with good flavor. You know it’s a legit Chinese roasted duck when you can taste the star anise! I will definitely return to try the other items! Pro tip - parking can be terrible, so just go further down the lot towards auto zone. There’s always plenty of parking there.“

“I like the ambiance of this restaurant. The color scheme, furniture, and dishware are really pretty. It's a pleasant place to dine. Unfortunately, the food and prices make it not worth it to me. The flavors feel off, like lacking seasoning or not the right balance of flavors. The beijing It's hard to justify paying such high prices for dishes that don't hit the mark. It's a shame because the menu looked really good and I like the variety of dishes this place serves.“

“It’s my first visit here. I loved the rice casserole and the fried pork ribs. The rice casserole was very authentic and delicious, just like the best ones I had in China.
The place was clean and the service was great. The manager answered my questions and when she saw there’s oil on my hands, she got me a paper napkin before I asked. I was very grateful!“

“3.5 stars
We came here before 11am shortly after opening on a Sunday and there was no wait. We decided to try their entrees and skipped the dimsum.
The salted fish chicken eggplant claypot took a long time to come, it came at the end and the eggplants were burnt on the bottom and the skin was tough to chew. It was also submerged in a lot of oil but tastewise it was okay.
The satay beef chow fun was good, it was actually runny and not too salty. The pineapple was a nice touch, we just weren't a big fan of the red bellpeppers.
Japanese style beef cubes with fried silken tofu was really good, the sauce is slightly sweet and savory and not too salty. We really liked this one.
All 3 dishes were in the low $20s, and more than enough for 3 people. We had leftovers to go.
There is free dessert! Choice is mango pudding or grass jelly.“

“This chain originates in Guangdong Province and has been in existence since 1981.
Limited menu featuring traditional Cantonese healthy favorites: rice noodle rolls, porridge/congee, curative herbal soups, and steamed rice/meat.
Great place for a clean healthy meal.“

“The service is just from being overwhelmed from called in orders. Impatient people not used to waiting for cooked food, it’s not microwaved food and it’s quality so you can’t argue, many restaurants are microwaved with frozen meat which makes a hard center, this place actually cooks with skill where it’s made right for health, it not oily it’s protein from the meat.“

“This place is hopping, even on weekdays! I’m so glad to see a business doing well in this spot by the San Lorenzo post office. Of course, I had to try chang fen! I opted for the BBQ pork and dried shrimp combo for the filling, and I added scallions for a small upcharge. Most of the dishes offer several modification options. I was slightly worried that the dried shrimp flavor would be overwhelming, but it dissolved well into the soy-based sauce. The barbecue flavor was sweet but slightly smoky. I appreciated the vegetal zing the scallions brought to the dish. Do add some of the mild, yet lively, vinegar sauce on the table. The chile sauce also deserves a shout-out.
Great steamed walnut buns, and I also enjoyed the Liwan congee, but I think the simpler chicken or beef is what I'll opt for next time.“

An authentic canto dimsun experience. Just missing some cussing and yelling at the cook in the back. Lunch combo fantastic.“

“Food is very good. However, I rather they told me the truth instead of steering me into something else. It appeared that they don't have 2 lbs or more lobsters. So, they BS about 2 one lb lobsters would provide better meat quantity and that the meat in a 2 lb lobsters would be tougher. You will get more shell and more elbow joints that are difficult to handle. Instead, just order something else. Anyhow, the lobsters over noodles were nicely cooked and were extremely tasty. So were the surf clams over cellophane noodles. The rest of the dishes were also good except for the salt and pepper pork chops. They were tasty but the chops used were too thick. Desserts were not warm/hot enough.
Service was generally good. Near the end, the waiters were, as if by concerted efforts, ignoring our wavings to get our teapots filled.
The tables were not too jam-packed as other Chinese restaurants.“

“I finally had a chance to drop in on this joints. Expections were low. Especially after reading a few reviews. To my shock I was pleasantly surprised. The veggie entrée that I ordered had the PERFECT TOFU for me. I'm not a fan of the spongy/ chewy tofu. Or the bland no flavor kind. This tofu was, how can I put it? SILKY, it was the star of the dish. Granted the veggies were perfectly cooked. They didnt use canned mushrooms, which is a plus. My waitress was ok. Not rude, not overly pleasant. Just like someone trying to get through the day. No shade I've been there before. I will come back to see if we can recreate magic with the tofu or if it was a fluke.“

“Here's the review with the added information:
"Great take out place for roasted duck and pork. My fav is duck roasted plate which came with rice and steamed cabbage. Loved the duck flavor. It's in the lions supermarket complex, just outside the supermarket. Not recommended for dining-in. It's a quick grab the food and take away."“

“I was searching for a dim sum place and this restaurant’s name came up with decent reviews. I went there but found out that they no longer serve dim sum, only the regular Chinese food menu. We ended up ordered congee and lobster noodles and those were quite good.“
