“My husband and I usually go during happy hour for their poke nachos and crispy brussel sprouts but have tried a few other things. Everything we've tried has been delicious but occasionally varies in preparation quality. We went on March 18th and ordered the poke nachos but they were not as good. The portion was a lot smaller than usual, so we decided to order another one. The second one came out great (I included a picture of the one prepared correctly) and that's when we realized they left off ingredients from the first one sent. They were still good but it was interesting that the two plates were that different. We didn't mention this to our waiter and I'm sure they would have been accommodating but maybe plates should be checked for quality before they're delivered?

Another note, we usually sit at the bar but we got a table the last time since the bar was packed. We were obviously fine with this but the cleanliness was extremely lacking. The menus had food on them and greasy fingerprints. I'm also not sure why the booths are never wiped down?? The tables are cleaned but the food just lands on the seats. Then you're wondering what else isn't cleaned, look around, and notice all the other spots that aren't wiped down. So gross.“

“Stayed here for a few days. Restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner. No food between 10-4pm if you’re in the hotel. Their little market does have food to go options.

Breakfast opens at 6am. Sadly, you can’t pre-order. I ordered for delivery one more and then pickup the next. If you order online, make sure to pay attention if you pick room service or pickup.

Had dinner a few times. They have grilled octopus. The one that I got was a tad salty and lemony. I’m not keen on lemon on my seafood. It was tender. So if you don’t mind it, then you’ll be ok. Otherwise, let them know to go easy on the lemon and salt. Also ordered fish tacos, chicken wings and truffle Parmesan fries. Out of all of them, I’d say truffle Parmesan was the best.

“I LOVE THIS PLACE!! The food is awesome and the service exceptional. I came in on a Tuesday, JUST for the Chicken and Waffles not knowing it’s a weekend item. They went above and beyond to make a special order for me. It was worth the wait. Also they make a special drink I came up with only at this bar. “The PhoenixSunrise Hot Toddy” its Makers Mark whiskey, hot water, lemon, lots of honey and a shot of Angry Orchard Hard Cider **brings out all the flavors! “A group of 4 of us had dinner together at this restaurant, and we ALL enjoyed the food. It’s a tapas / Family style and has a lot of options to choose from. we ordered the cauliflower, meatballs, shishito peppers, tagliatelle pasta, spicy Korean fried chicken wings… it was Enough to feed a small family! Cooked to perfection. Also we had the fluffernutter dessert.. honestly everything was Delicious!!!

And given that I don’t drink, I love that they have a pretty decent mocktails menu! Thank you to our server, very accommodating!

“I ordered the Santa Maria BBQ sandwich, and it was delicious. The bread was incredibly fresh. I even got to see them making it right there. Anissa (I hope I am spelling that right) took my order and truly impressed me with her efficiency. She handled everything from running the register to prepping food and organizing to go orders. Despite the busy crowd, she was friendly, thorough, and quick. The restaurant was clean and well organized and the employes worked seamlessly as a team. Great Food, great service.“

“I ordered online. My food was ready when I went to pick it up. The staff was nice. I enjoyed my breakfast burrito. It was huge and yummy. It took me two days to finish it. My significant other didn't enjoy his as much. I did have a problem with finding this establishment. Because when I ordered the BAB burritos (the name of the breakfast burrito) I thought that was the name of the place too.🤭 So I was shocked to find out it was the hot dog place.

“Ryan gave my party of five the best menu overview and food recommendations we’ve ever experienced. We arrived just as happy hour was starting and were pleasantly surprised to find that the happy hour portions were just as generous as the regular appetizers. Everything we tried was excellent, and the coconut shrimp was hands-down the best I’ve ever had.

Our waitress, Brook, was fantastic—so attentive and friendly. Honestly, every member of the staff was welcoming and accommodating, which made the entire experience even better.

“The bar at the Valley Inn is perhaps one of the best kept secrets in LA. Yes, it’s tiny but get there early, secure your seat and you’re in for a ride of the greatest cocktails served up by a ladies and gentlemen’s gentleman - the maker with the shaker, Bill. “We did not try the food, but the place looked clean and I would eat here. The bartender was fun and attentive. The DJ was having a great time and spinning a great mix of 80's, 90's and general good tunes. The clientele were nice and we had several conversations with guests. We will come back.“

“Ever since moving to the area, this has been THE date night spot for my husband and I. It is everything we wanted in a local neighborhood bar -- a chill environment with kind staff and fun weekly activities. The music is low enough to be able to have good conversations. There is a lot of spacious seating, including large tables, couches with pillows, etc. The bar food is tasty, the walls are lined with books and games, and they have cute literary-themed cocktails. My husband and I will grab a drink and a board game and sit for hours! We've also seen people reading on the couch with a drink, which is such a vibe. The space is so well curated to be a comfortable spot for anyone -- groups, dates, or solos.

The staff are beyond friendly, and the new owner Joy is a ray of sunshine. She remembers our names when we come visit and has been so passionate about incorporating new weekly activities like taco Tuesdays, karaoke, and trivia.

Catcher in the Rye is a rare gem of a place that feels so comfortable and so familiar. Thank you Joy & all staff for the best neighborhood bar we could ask for!“
