“Finally stopped by for dinner on the way home after always driving by, and so glad I did! Seems like a delivery/pickup heavy spot so I basically had the dining room to myself. Very kind and friendly staff, great prices, and ridiculously good food with big portions. A good strong Thai iced coffee, perfectly seasoned crispy pork with Chinese broccoli, and delicious siumai. My food photography is trash, but good lord this was a great meal. You can hear the woks firing off in the back and taste how incredibly fresh everything is.

I don't know if they turned off the AC or closed the doors but it got really HOT. And it kind of made me feel like they did it on purpose so that people can leave. “Totally unexpected find in generally sleepy Montrose! Delighted we found Backbone after living here for 15 years and missing having an elevated meal close by. We shared one appetizer (corn agnolotti) and two entrees (NY strip and ribeye, tai snapper) and all of the food was delicious. The corn agnolotti was al dente and a mix of sweet (corn) and buttery and lemony (sauce). Both the steak and ribeye were tender and flavorful, and the snapper was moist and served with a delightful charred kale. Ask for bread to sop up the agnolotti sauce! Staff was friendly and helpful, we really enjoyed our meal!“

“After our Altadena house burned down, we relocated to Barker Block and absolutely love being so close to Manuela. We used to have a fire table like yours, so dining here always carries a sense of home. Last night we brought friends, and they said, ‘This makes it hard to go out to eat in Monrovia—our restaurants cut corners with cheap ingredients and fast turnover.’ What your chefs create is the opposite: dishes with not just incredible flavor but extraordinary texture and detail. Their expertise is off the charts, and I highly recommend.“

“One of my girlfriend's favorite spots. Plenty of seating, but it definitely gets busy. We started with the guac and chips, and the taro chips were insanely crunchy and so good. I ordered the Tremendous Burger, and it definitely lived up to the name. Juicy, flavorful, and one of those burgers I'd happily order again. The pizzas looked delicious too, so I'll definitely be back to try one. The whole staff was super friendly which made the experience even better“
