Restaurants in Toluca Lake

“Omg. What a menu. Who ever thought Brussel spouts could ever taste so good. I could take a big bowl of those with a huge spoon! Wow! Everything was great!”

“The sushi here is, plain and simple, excellent. The fish is unequivocally fresh, the rice texture is on point, the sauces do not overpower or overwhelm the natural flavors of the fish itself; and the practice of adding thin delicate sheets of black truffle to your Nigiri for an added charge is a satisfying indulgence.

Now that we have established that the food is quite good, here are a list of very honest negatives:
1. The restaurant is too small to have a pleasant meal in. Customers here tend to be loud, boisterous and often with a few too many alcoholic drinks in them. You see a lot of tipsy yelling and laughing. Not a fine dining vibe AT ALL. The tables are so close together, you have little to no privacy and feel sardined into your seat. The patio is just as loud and the tables feel cheap, wobbly and uncomfortable (some of them are literally plastic picnic tables).
2. The wait is terrible. Even if they aren’t crowded, you’ll end up standing at the hostess stand 15-20 minutes before somebody decides to address you.
3. The parking lot ALWAYS has some long and wide Mercedes or BMW parked right in the middle of 2 spaces. As a result, 4 cars fit into like 8 spaces. It’s not pretty and it’s not fun.

Basically, if you’re willing to spend forever parking, spend even longer waiting at the hostess stand, wait 45 min to get a table and then sit in the loudest, most headache inducing restaurant (with poor acoustics) then yes, you will get good sushi.

I hate the noise level and I still go back on occasion because I like the sushi that much. But I really hope they consider moving locations.”

“Really chill spot. They have a bunch of board games and books for patrons. The seating and atmosphere is really comfortable and inviting. It was pretty quiet when we went on a Wednesday night, but it was still a great place to hang out with friends.
I had it w/o alcohol, but the How the West Was Won was really good.

Parking: We arrived during a low-traffic time, and the restaurant nextdoor was closed, so there was plenty of space in the back-door parking; but it's a small lot, so it might be a bit difficult during busier times.”

“My first meal in L.A. and I couldn't have selected a better restaurant. The service was excellent, he was attentive and gave a great recommendation. we selected the goat cheese salad to start. It was delicious. Main courses were the chicken lasagna and seafood medley pasts. The portions were perfect. I will definitely return.”

Be sure to get empanadas and salad from Puerto Rican Eats.The inside is lively, but mid-century modern cool. There’s also patio and sidewalk seating. “Great tasty phenomenal meal. I had Ube pancakes, brisket waffle sandwich, lemon ricotta waffle with fried chicken. Everything was superb, the only thing I would complain is that when the waitress asked what celebrity I wanted on my latte, I said "P.Diddy" and she would not allow this ??? her response was "we don't allow that here, we won't allow that anywhere!"”

“Really great neighborhood sushi spot with fresh fish and great appetizers. Huge menu selection. It’s always packed and busy so be sure to make a reservation. Great service too, really enjoyed my meal here. My favorite dish was actually the vegan roll- asparagus, shiitake mushrooms, and carrots wrapped in avocado with roasted red pepper—so delicious.

“Best Mexican food out the in my opinion. Premium ingredients are incredibly rare for Mexican food and sharkeys uses the best. Wild caught, organic, and grass-fed. The salsas are delicious and chips come with each meal. Prices are comparable to most other restaurants and the flavors and overall dining experience is far superior. Highly recommend this spot for lunch or dinner. Outstanding in all categories.”

“We were going to be in town for my grandson's Birthday so we decided to order an ice cream cake ahead of time near where we would be.I am very picky and ordered a special cake with ice cream chosen for each little cone that would be on top of the cake and of course a special ice cream that they did not have on their list for the month. I did this by phone. The woman I spoke to was very nice and assured me my order would be right and ready on time. It was.The place is just spotless and the service is wonderful. We were so pleased with the cake. It was great. We also had some ice cream while we were there and it too was wonderful.We especially loved the service from the B&R. It was just perfection.Have a great time eating some ice cream.”

“I am so impressed with the beautiful new space Sweet Salt has moved to. Before that I would eat at sweet salt when had breakfast meetings. I love their Spinach omelette so truthfully that's what I've stuck with. When meeting with a client at the new location, one of the guests at a neighboring table said the food wasn't that good to them. I was very happy to not have that experience, rather my spinach omelette, salad and toast were just as delicious!”

“My favorite CBTL because of the EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE! Juan, Esme, Santiago, Blat, and their Manager, Miguel are all hardworking, friendly and patient. Juan in particular, always goes above and beyond ensuring quality drinks and service every time. Not only warm, friendly and patient but diligent in his work. My Hazelnut lattes are consistently YUMMY every time Juan makes it (Esme too). While the atmosphere has dwindled from the times I used to practically live there studying on spacious tables w/available electrical outlets, to tiny sparingly tables w/out access to outlets, it is the STAFF that makes this CBTL the BEST!! If you appreciate great customer service this is bar none the place to get your brew (coffee, tea) and yummy pastries and sandwiches.”

“Very delicious Thai food. Our waitress was kind and polite; didn't speak very much English. We ordered the lunch special Pad See Ew (sooooo good), Thai ice tea, and coconut curry. Everything was delicious. We came back multiple times since our first visit.”
