Experience Toluca Lake's Mexican food at these fantastic spots.
“The menu offers a big variety of dishes that really taste like the way done in mexico. The prices are very reasonable. Indoor seating is a bit too claustrophobic for me so I preferred the tables outside which are next to heaters, so it was a comfortable dinner.“
“Best Mexican food out the in my opinion. Premium ingredients are incredibly rare for Mexican food and sharkeys uses the best. Wild caught, organic, and grass-fed. The salsas are delicious and chips come with each meal. Prices are comparable to most other restaurants and the flavors and overall dining experience is far superior. Highly recommend this spot for lunch or dinner. Outstanding in all categories.“
“Fresh and Flavorful Delight at Baja Fresh in Toluca Lake!I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Baja Fresh location in Toluca Lake, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm welcome. The standout feature of this Baja Fresh location is undeniably the freshness of their food. Whether you're a fan of burritos, tacos, or bowls, you can rest assured that your meal will be made to order with the freshest ingredients. The cleanliness of the store also deserves praise. The dining area and restrooms were spotless, creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere for patrons. What truly sets this Baja Fresh apart, though, is the exceptional service provided by the welcoming and friendly staff. From the cashier who took my order to the kitchen staff who prepared my meal, everyone displayed a genuine passion for ensuring that customers have a memorable experience. It's rare to find such a consistently friendly and customer-focused team.Whether you're a regular Baja Fresh enthusiast or trying it for the first time, the Toluca Lake location is a must-visit. Fresh, flavorful, and accompanied by a welcoming atmosphere, it's a winning combination that guarantees a satisfying dining experience. I wholeheartedly recommend this Baja Fresh location to anyone looking for a delicious and enjoyable meal in Toluca Lake, California.“
“We found a healthy eating treasure in Burbank called Tocaya Modern Mexican. It's a clean cafeteria-like atmosphere in which you can order from your table using a QR code or walk up and order from the cashier. My son called it a new age type business where cash is unacceptable. The food is clean, old-world, and fresh with classic flavors. I enjoyed the Baja fish tacos; the hot sauce brought the flavor out. The corn bowl was excellent, too. The strawberry basil drink was refreshing, along with the sangria. The service was perfect. We will be returning.Vegetarian options: Excellent Variety“
“Walking into Mírate transported me into a zone of lush relaxation accompanied by great food and service. From the second we sat down, Logan welcomed us aboard this pallet joinery enjoying flavors from Mexico. His energy and helpfulness in deciding what to drink and eat made our dining experience a dream. He even brought over Max, the Mezcal expert, to share with us some amazing stories behind each of our drink choices. 100% recommend coming here and asking for Logan to be your server.“
“A friend booked a dinner for our work event on a rain night. Our driver dropped us off at the wrong place, but they were happy to point us to the right spot across the parking lot river.Ultimately, it was a great choice. A small menu that is meant to be shared, we asked our waiter to decide for us, and we were not disappointed.Including drinks for 6 people and tip the night came out at around $800. Worth it.“
“Holbox is a must try for anyone who has even the slightest inclination for uni.The food at Holbox really is five stars but their food rating is four stars from me out of [maybe] no fault of their own. This entire market is alcohol-free.I am certain there will be more than a few who agree with me that a great ceviche really isn't that great without booze.“
“We are regulars and though we come in scruffy from work, the staff treat us like royalty. Food is gourmet Mexican with always a unique twist with layers of subtle flavor. This ain't no taco truck so crack open the wallet but worth it. Love you guys!“
“After visiting Hijo de su Madre several times for their award winning and phenomenal Yucetecan vegan greatness I was quite excited when I saw on their IG they were adding a vegan burger menu. It just launched a few days ago, but is already my favorite burger (got the Phat Hass Burger) in LA and I have had them all. Even more profoundly, they have the best loaded frots I’ve ever had by a landslide! Run don’t walk to try the new menu (will be on the delivery apps soon!) and then keep coming back because everything on the menu is perfection. 5 stars!!!“
“I was blown away by Sonoratown. Everything we got there was incredible, especially the steak tacos, juicy with an incredible smoky flavor from the grill and the salsa. On that note, their salsa deserves a special shoutout. I had the pleasure of walking in just as a fresh batch of red salsa was made. Everyone working there was so excited about how good it came out, laughing and dancing around, and their excitement and enthusiasm was infectious. I could feel what a good working environment it was, and how much passion they put into their food. Please do yourself a favor and give Sonoratown a try.“
“I was uncomfortable with the place down the street. It looked rowdy. Javi told us to try this place. He said it's been here over 10 years. I wish I knew about this place sooner. It's a hidden gem. They have a huge indoor seating area, cafeteria style. There's restrooms. We paid $120 for two botanas, a dozen oysters, 6 shrimp tacos, two tostadas, and three drinks. Yum. Sorry! We were hungry, forgot to take before pictures. ?“
“Best fish tacos on the east side. Could eat them once a week. Made to order from a taco truck so sometimes you have to wait a bit. Wish they were there later but great for an early dinner or lunch. My favorite is the recommended shrimp and cheese one and soft shell crab“
“Such a cute little wine bar in the heart of DTLA! My friend and I decided to catch up over early dinner here. We ordered the coldbrew martini and the non-alcoholic prosecco. We also shared the caesar salad, meatballs, piquillo peppers, and the margherita flatbread. Everything was delicious and tasty. We were pleased with everything we ordered. There's indoor and outdoor seating available. Our service was efficient. There is no free parking available, but we paid to park in a lot nearby.“
“Loreto lived up to my expectations in every aspect. Last minute they were able to accommodate an extra guest for our table, which was much appreciated! Our server (I forget her name, so sorry!) was so attentive and helpful; we had a gluten allergy and she was able to let us know on the spot which dishes had gluten and which didn't. We were coursed so well, with all of the ceviches and tostadas arriving first, followed by hot dishes. For a group of five, we ordered: -3 Oysters Preparado -yellowtail sashimi -Aguachiles Rojo -Leche de Tigre -Bay Scallop ceviche -Tostada a la Joaquin -Tostada Kondo -Tostada Bang Bang! -Camote Horneado -Mar-Esquites -Empanadas de Camaron -Albondigas de Camaron. My favorites of the night were the Aguachiles Rojo, Tostada Kondo and the Albondigas; however the shining star of the night was the Tostada a la Joaquin. The aquachiles was perfectly spicy and fresh with a lot of umami- I could eat 3 servings of this!! Tostada Kondo was also fresh and the scallops were so soft and buttery. The albondigas were an excellent hot dish to share and the green curry they were served in was flavorful and bright. The oysters and yellowtail to start were also excellent. The Tostada a la Joaquin was absolutely perfect; the otoro melted in your mouth and the yuzu vinaigrette was perfectly rich to compliment the tuna. Everyone was so impressed by this dish. The Leche de Tigre and Camote Horneado fell a bit flat for me, but were still enjoyable alongside the other dishes. We had a round of drinks; I ordered the Todos Santos Milkpunch and loved it. Everyone enjoyed their drinks as well! I took not one photo (which is rare for me) because the food and company was so good. We had so much fun here and will return so soon!!“
“Really delicious food. Tiny outside eating area. Valet parking, which is good because this isn't a neighborhood where you'd like to be walking around at night getting to your car.Kid-friendliness: NoWheelchair accessibility: Yes“
“We are from Brazil and happened to find this amazing spot in LA. Absolutely worth the wait. We suggest that you try both corn in the cup and in the spike. I’m pretty sure we will have dreams about it. Super tasty, soft and crunchy at the same time… thank you, Corn Man!“
“I was in the downtown LA area & came across this small place. It was absolutely amazing! Probably one of the tastier tacos I’ve had in LA. I liked how the tortillas were very simple, homemade & thin. I ordered two steak & two chorizo tacos. They were both really good but the steak was delicious. Compared to other taco spots I’ve been to in LA, this steak was cooked well & had a great flavor. I went back & ordered more of the steak tacos because they were that good! The staff were very nice & welcoming, & the inside had a nice chill atmosphere. Will definitely be back!“
“Authentic street style tacos in an authentic atmosphere, tried more than one of each meat and everything hits the spot. The Horchata was fantastic and refreshing after a good meal.Would try a burrito or quesadilla from here on my next visit!“
“This is a place where you eat amazing food and see art. It is family friendly and has many food choices. Their art exhibit are amazing. Currently until May 6, they have an exhibit centering Palestinian women. The artwork and stories are spectacular. Everybody should go see it.“
“This place had amazing tacos made from scratch. I ordered the mole and shredded beef taco and neither disappointed. There is plenty of room here with both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor area has a large mural on the outside walls of LA themes. Super unique and yummy place to visit. Plus, the prices are reasonable for the places popularity.Parking: Small parking lot but lots of street parking.“
“This is my favorite vegan Mexican spot. They have the best food and it’s fairly affordable considering it’s vegan. I always get the Al Pastor burrito, cause it’s packed with flavor. They have other amazing items, but I tend to stick with my go to option that I listed. Overall, I am never disappointed when I go here, cause for the price the burritos are huge.“
“Went there for happy hour with some girlfriends. Not that impressed by their vegan food…I’m not a vegan so the faking meat really didn’t help me… but the margarita was really impressive! Smoky and citrus- infused. Love it! Very good price during happy hours too. Will come back again ?“
“Solid selection of tacos, counter service, where you order, huge drink selection, including a $200 margarita meant for 16 people (sorry that’s not pictured we must have finished it so quickly). Generous portions, and all the tacos which he would hope for spending at least $5/taco.“
“My favorite taco place. Please blow this place up so it can survive!!! It’s in a slightly difficult place due to the traffic at that intersection but the food is sooooooo good and the workers are all so friendly. Cute space inside and out. Get your tacos/burrito gogo “
“Stopped by for a quick snack since I saw this place on YouTube. Got the Goat Birria and an Asada tacos, both were great. Full of queso and real delicious. Lemonada con Chia was no overly sweet and refreshing on a hot afternoons. Worth the stop come check it “
“This institution is still beloved by the community and beyond. As heard by customers chatting each other up in line to compare their love for this spot, people come from far away to have their bean and cheese burrito or their favorites they've been coming back for since they were young. It's solid and filling. Find the combo that works for you. Just to note, their classic bean and cheese is soft and is so hot, it's hard to eat it right off the bat so you might have to use utensils but it works. It'll cool down and you can eventually sop up the rest. Have some napkins handy.“
“ButtonMash is the epitome of a gamer's paradise blended with delicious food and drinks. From the moment we stepped in, the vibrant atmosphere was palpable, with the sounds of laughter and the clinking of glasses mingling with the cheerful beeps and boops of arcade games. Our experience at ButtonMash was elevated by our incredible waitress, Victoria, whose warmth and charisma made us feel right at home. Despite the bustling crowd, Victoria ensured that our needs were met promptly, adding an extra touch of magic to my birthday celebration. The menu at ButtonMash is a delightful fusion of mouthwatering dishes and drinks, perfectly complementing the nostalgic ambiance. Whether you're craving classic comfort food or innovative culinary creations, there's something for every palate. But what truly sets ButtonMash apart is its impressive array of video games and pinball machines, transporting guests back to the golden age of arcade gaming. From iconic classics to modern favorites, there's no shortage of entertainment to accompany your meal and drinks.Overall, ButtonMash exceeded our expectations in every aspect, from the exceptional service to the delectable fare and endless gaming fun. Whether you're a hardcore gamer or simply looking for a unique dining experience, ButtonMash is the ultimate destination for food, drinks, and play.“
“Unreal! One of the best quesadillas I’ve ever had and honestly I’ve always felt like it’s such a basic food. This one though had tons of flavor. Even the mild salsa I got as an extra was garlicky and delicious. The frozen piña coladas 10/10. Glad I tried this on a whim. Excited to try the cocktail spot next door next time“
“The menu is a delightful exploration of fresh, high-quality ingredients prepared with exceptional skill and care. From the succulent lobster tacos to the tender octopus, and the delightfully refreshing ceviches, each dish is a testament to the chefs' mastery of combining bold flavors and textures. While the prices may be somewhat steep, the quality of the food justifies the cost.“
“This place is the #1 thing I miss about living in Los Angeles. Pro tip, buy 2 fish tacos, they each come with 2 tortillas. Leave the outer tortilla on your plate. The tacos are so generously stuffed that enough will fall out on your empty tortilla to make another taco!“
“you MUST visit this spot! Had an amazing experience at Tlayuda LA !! The food was delicious, I have never a caldo de pollo that tastes like the one back home in México! Also had mole and green enchiladas and everything had authentic flavors !Service was great and friendly! Definitely going back !“
“This was easily one of the best dinner experiences of my entire trip to California. The queue is long, but who cares? Just stand in line and salivate at the thought of insane tacos, or perhaps a stupidly large burrito that can feed a family of three. Or you know, just get there earlier. The servers were super cheery and helpful as well, which is always a pleasure. The food is so flavourful, it even managed to retain its flavour when cold! Did I mention the food is amazing? It's amazing.“
“We were a bit skeptical to eat at this restaurant due to the idea we have about Mexican food in the Us- spicy and tacos! We were very glad we overcame that idea and discovered some wonderful dishes. There is food for all the diets and they offer some dishes for people who can’t eat spicy food. Food was fresh. We loved the open kitchen to look at the cooks preparing our food. Service was ok and extremely served fast after ordering. The only minus points of this place were how loud the music was (not good for people who are extremely sensitive to noise) and how strong the ac was which made the food quickly cold. It is definitely an address to keep and a great place to discover the Mexican gastronomy.Parking: There is a valet for $7 and free street parking but be careful where you park. Not the best neighborhood“
“Super tasty food, delicious snacks. Everything done at the moment!! And the unique attention. Very friendly and attentive. First time and I was impressed. I recommend it, I will return every time I go from San Francisco to San Fernando Los Angeles. God Bless the workers, owner and Restaurant and prosper them!!!“
“First time going. Went for a late lunch. Staff was very friendly & the food came out fast. This has an elevated or more modern vibe compared to other "traditional" Mexican restaurants with familiar menu items (tacos, chips&guac, street corn) but several premium items (tomahawk steak, lobster bomba rice) or unique options (jimca salad, shrimp chile) as well. I like the small plates and tacos but also appreciate the large plates for dinner. They also have mocktails which are fantastic- we had spicy passionfruit. Wel will ne neck amd the atmosphere is lively from watching sports to a date night.“
“Horchata was bomb. Tacos are small usually its two tortillas and spill-over meat makes a second. Tortillas were somewhat undercooked. Other than being small gourmet playhouse looking portions it was good. It was more once in a lifetime kinda meal not beefy hearty get full go to work filling kinda meal. Its more like a Go alone buy a second round of the sampler kind of meal. Its pricey but worth it.Parking: Dont wear plaid or red or blue. There was a face tattoo guy leaving the parking lot.“
“The food was so delicious. I recommend the chorizo and frijoles. We had two servers one was exceptional however the other server made us very uncomfortable with his aggressive, bad attitude and rude behavior. I'd like to say I would come back but if I saw him I would RUN!“
“I recently dined at Kateen restaurant and had a wonderful experience. The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish presenting a burst of flavor and expertly prepared. The atmosphere of the restaurant added to the enjoyment, offering a welcoming and comfortable setting. I would highly recommend Kateen to anyone looking for a delightful culinary experience.“
“This was my friends and I first time trying this spot. We're from the Bay Area and needed a good hangover breakfast and this little hidden gem is the place to go! Fresh natural juices, great service, beautiful and delicious food!! I loved it I'm surprised it wasn't packed in there! But I'd definitely recommend this spot I'm sure everything on their menu tastes great!“
“listen: its west LA, there are a *TON* of options... but none of them are as good as this. start with the chilaquiles -- they are *chef's kiss* incredible. and anything else you order will be impeccably seasoned, full of authentic flavor, and fresh. everything is “
“Nice Mexican restaurant in the Los Feliz neighborhood in LA. The restaurant had great ambiance and attentive service. We had an assortment of vegan and vegetarian sides, including flautas (made vegan), beans, rice, and fingerling potatoes. The dessert options included vegan sorbets and vegetarian churros.Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian options with a clearly labeled menu. Many of the Vegetarian items can be made vegan.“
“The food was very good. My favorite thing was the spicy Pescado tacos. The chorizo scramble on toast was not as good as I was hoping it would be, but I did love the mimosa option with a flight of juices to kind of make your own mimosa. got there fairly early so there weren't many people and there, so the noise level was low and the atmosphere there is very charming and warm..“
“Food is delicious! Been here twice and it doesn't disappoint Service is fast and efficient. Servers are attentive to their tables! Just amazing!Highly recommended for authentic Mexican breakfast, plus i love the music! Got to hear PXNDX! which is one of my favorite bands !“
“Environment, food, & service was all incredibly amazing. All the food was delicious, especially the cafe de olla!! Would recommend this place for anyone wanting some delicious breakfast/food. They have a wide range of choices and options. Isaac (the owner) was very friendly and inviting. If I could give this place 10 stars I would! My family and I will definitely be coming back when we are back in California.“
“This is a authentic Peruvian friendly and family oriented restaurant in LA. The Loma Saltado doesn’t even need extra salt. It is well seasoned and the flavors are on point. The owner has been in the area for 40 years and people have come to this place for a homie meal.“
“I have to say that their breakfast was delicious, but kinda pricey. I think I'll stick to CJ's Café for breakfast. Dinner, on the other hand, I'll spend more money on a dinner entrée, so we'll probably come back for dinner. The service was great!“
“SOOOOO soo good!! Always look forward to stopping by whoever the truck is at. Highly recommend the Classic burger and also the Chicken katsu sandwich. Thé gorgonzola on thé burger is DELICIOUS. The veggies are crisp and fresh. And the sauces are homemade, so so delicious. A MUST try“
“This was our first time at this restaurant and it was very good. There was a wide variety of items on the menu, and it was difficult to choose because everything sounded so good. We decided on the enchiladas Suizas & quesadilla Lito with chicken, which were delicious. Our server was very friendly & attentiveand made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely be back to try more items on the menu.“
“My parents love their tacos, Im a fan of their tortas ? Burritos are pretty good too. I'm just loyal to my taco stand in downtown LA ? I like this one because they are always there so it's definitely reliable and they have their salsas on a stand so I appreciate unlimited salsa ?“
“The food here is unmatched. The best tacos and salsa around by far. The service? Not super amazing, but it made for a more intentional dining experience, and I don't mind that. Truly though, the steak tacos set a new bar for me. Amazing work in the kitchen. Great cocktails too!“
