“The food here was pretty good, but the prices were kind of high for a retail fast food experience from a Baja fresh. They need to lower their prices like a lot of places nowadays to match what they’re actually providing with their service and food.“

“Komal is an absolute standout and exactly what a Mexican restaurant should be. In a city filled with options, it’s rare to find a spot that prioritizes true authenticity and quality at this level. Every bite is fantastic, but what really sets them apart is the salsa—it is the gold standard that every Mexican restaurant should be striving for.
You can tell they put a massive amount of care into their process, from the quality of the ingredients to the depth of flavor in their dishes. If you are looking for an authentic experience that doesn’t cut corners, this is the place to go. Highly recommended!“

“Delicious and fast tacos. The restaurant knows what they are doing. The lines moved so fast and I got me food within 5 minutes. They have complementary potatoes which is awesome since they help with the spicy of the spicy salsas. They also have a self serve salsa and topping bar which is my favorite so I can generously garnish and drench my tacos in salsas. We realized this was a really popular spot in this area because it was already 12 am and this place was still really packed. Really delicious and authentic tacos, will definitely come back again.“

“When you walk into Guisados, the first thing that hits you isn't the menu; it's the smell of corn. Because right there behind the counter, they are patting out masa and throwing it onto a hot comal. These tortillas aren't just a vehicle for the meat—they are thick, pillowy, handmade, architectural marvels. They smell like grandma's kitchen, and they are sturdy enough to hold back a flood of heavy, rich stew without breaking a sweat.
If you’re smart, you don’t just order one or two. You get the Taco Sampler—a magnificent, six-mini-taco flight that lets you taste the full spectrum of what this kitchen can do.
The Heavy Hitters:
Cochinita Pibil: Shredded pork leg braised in sweet, earthy achiote, topped with fiery pickled red onions. It’s sweet, it’s sour, it’s deeply savory, and it is absolutely flawless.
Tinga de Pollo: Shredded chicken breast simmered with tomatoes, cabbage, and chipotle. It’s got a smoky, creeping heat that builds beautifully with every bite.
Chicharron: Pork rinds simmered in a spicy green tomatillo sauce until they achieve this incredible, gelatinous, melt-in-your-mouth texture. It’s texture-forward, unapologetic, and fiercely traditional.
The Pescado: For a break from the heavy meats, their grilled white fish served atop black beans with a vibrant cream sauce is an absolute masterclass in freshness.“

“We visited El Compadre to celebrate my uncle’s birthday, and overall it was a good experience. One of the highlights was definitely the famous flaming margaritas. They were fun to watch, very flavorful, and a great way to kick off the celebration.
I ordered the enchiladas, and they were rich, tasty, and very filling. The portion size was generous, and I couldn’t finish the entire plate.
The service was decent, but it took a while for the waiters to come and take our order. Also, the complimentary chips and salsa brought to the table at the beginning were disappointing. The chips tasted like old oil and had a strong oily smell, which wasn’t the best first impression.
The food and margaritas were the stars of the visit, but there is definitely room for improvement with the service and the quality of the chips.“

“Wanted some taco and found this place on the maps with so many good reviews. Had to check it out and I’m so glad I did. The service was very quick. I love cinnamony coffee and their horchata with cold brew was just a perfection. Their homemade tortillas are definitely something that you need to try this place for. Every ingredient tasted fresh, delicious, made us happy.“

“I tried a mix of dishes here including ceviche, sangria, and tacos, and overall it was a pretty good experience. The tacos were really tasty and came with a nice salsa on the side. They’re on the smaller side but still filling. The sangria tasted authentic and was definitely a highlight. The ceviche was just okay for me, not a must-have. I was still a bit hungry afterward, so I ordered the Camerones tacos, which were bigger and really good.“

“Artisans, but more than that. World class.
No other food has made me feel the way that the magic from this kitchen does. Without exaggeration, Bourdain spent his whole career chasing what's here: the kind of food made by a family with genius instincts, who grinds, ferments, smokes, cures, and pickles to mouthwatering effect. It's nirvana. Every single time.
I think I've had almost everything on the menu by now. Loved it all, without exception. My repeats have included the huevos rancheros and the huarache azul. Oh, the huarache! Blue corn masa, frijoles, suadero that melts in your mouth because of their patience with it (you can tell), all dressed with salsa macha negra and crema. A fried egg on top. It's fire.
The flan con pecanas is Plato's ideal of flan. Silky and sumptuous. The texture from the pecans makes the whole thing feel like a love song.
And by now, I've been here enough times to see the true warmth of the family behind the magic. Not only does it radiate outward from the food at each of the (few) tables, but people also reflect it back to them. You can feel it. That is not a small thing. That is actually the whole thing.
I drive two hours for this experience, and I'd drive more. Go. Drive however far you need to. Leave speechless.“

“I just had lunch with my two daughters, ages 12 and 15. It was our first time here.
We ordered three plates: two 3-birria taco combo plates and one order of vampire tacos with chorizo. We tried all the sauces that came with them, along with a 24-ounce horchata.
My girls and I are usually pretty loud. We talk. We’re animated. We gush over the food.
But when we ate these tacos, we ate in silence because the food was that good. To speak would have taken us out of the moment. So we said nothing. We just sat there, lost in our own thoughts, luxuriating in tender meats, spicy red sauce, and complex flavors.
This is how you get tweens to enjoy family time: really good tacos.
And guess who told me about this place? The 12-year-old. Apparently, it’s trending. I recommend it too.“

“This is a great example of how LA street mexican food culture is like.
This place has one of the best pastor tacos in LA. Their meats are well seasoned and are not dry. Their salsas have great flavor and heat.
The lines can be long but it is worth the wait. You just can't beat this place when it comes to taste, quality, and price.“

“Chichen Itza is a local gem; a real, honest cocina Yucateco. I often find that even if yucatecan cuisine is on a menu of a restaurant, it may be half hearted, perhaps assuming the flavors and heat won't sell. Absolutely not the case her
Chichen Itza is a small, but confident showcase. There is consistent high quality to the food, which is artfully prepared and served. The dishes include delicacies such as: Cochinita Pibil, Poc Chuc, Relleno Negro, Agua de Chaya, and others. Humble, basic ingredients from the earth and sea, crafted into dishes possessing impeccable flavor and soul.
For those wary of high scoville numbers, the heat is restrained, but you can lay it on too and enjoy the wonderful flavor that can be harnessed from the Habanero.
As it is within a food court, and there is the intensely popular Holbox next door, the smell of ceviche and other uncooked seafood can be present. Finding seating can be challenging as well. Do not let this keep you from going.
Park on the street, and ignore the line out the door for Holbox. The food, and the people of Chichen Itza are worth every effort to come enjoy.“

“This place is great! The food is delicious, and more importantly, the customer service is excellent. The staff is very attentive and makes you feel welcome. The prices on the menu are reasonable for the quality you get.
It’s located inside a shopping center, which makes parking convenient, although it can depend on the time of day. The bathrooms are clean and well maintained.
If you’re around the Eagle Rock area, this will definitely be your spot. They also serve Mexican food, which is a big plus.
I definitely recommend this place!“

“Great authentic Mexican spot — super tasty and great value
Loved this place! It’s a small, lively, no-frills Mexican spot on Melrose — you order on a machine and they call your number when it’s ready.
The food is really delicious, very authentic, fresh, and full of flavor — not touristy at all. You can actually see the team cooking right in front of you, which makes it clear everything is fresh.
The vibe is fun and energetic, with loud Spanish music playing, which adds to the experience. Seating is limited (mostly counter seating), but there are a few tables outside on a small terrace.
We’re a French family with three children, and during our 4-day stay in Los Angeles we had lunch here and absolutely loved it.
Overall, a great quality/price ratio — highly recommended!“
