Emuna Glatt Kosher Catering Kosher • $$
13020 Yukon Ave unit e, Hawthorne

“Emuna Catering went above and beyond... and then they went above and beyond that!!!I'm an Azeri Jew from the former Soviet Union. Not only is our cuisine very specific but our culinary style is vastly different from what catering companies are accustomed to in this country. We redefine what the term "family style" means. On top of a loaded cocktail hour, we were looking for a caterer that could provide 12 cold appetizers to each table, a few hot appetizers, and 5-6 different entrees that would satisfy meat-eaters, pescatarians, and vegetarians alike. And of course, on top of it all, it had to be kosher. I spent many stressful weeks talking to different caterers. None of them took the time to truly understand what I was asking them to do. And none of them could deliver.Enter John. John delivered on every level. We had an abundance of food. Shawarma. Chicken kabob. Shish kabob. Kubideh. Tacos. Avocado egg rolls. Moraccan cigars. And that's just cocktail hour.  The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. We had so much beautiful food waiting for us at our table after the ceremony concluded. I'm tempted to list everything here but it would make this review far too long. Nobody was hungry for one second at any point throughout the night and the food was amazing. There was also a desert room at our wedding that could have doubled as an art installation. The fruit was cut and assorted beautifully across the tables. There were so many different types of pastries. We had a tea station and an espresso station, both of which had a server who showed the most generous hospitality with their spirit. Everyone keeps talking to us about the desert room. My aunt just called me yesterday to rave about the wedding, specifically the food and the deserts. She told me it felt like we were all relaxing with everyone we love in a beautiful home that we created.Meanwhile, the bar at our wedding was outstanding. The bartenders were having fun with our guests. At one point, they brought out a tray of shots to the dance floor with bottles that had VIP sparklers attached. I had no idea they were going to do that. It was a blast. If that's not your thing, I'm sure they would read the room accordingly. But they understood our vibe and added a lot to our celebration.I'm telling you, John didn't deliver, he OVER-delivered.I probably called him 50 times throughout the course of the wedding planning and he always made time for me. My wife and I could not be happier with the decision we made to go with Emuna.THANK YOU JOHN AND EMUNA!!!“

“I cant believe I have never heard of this place, it has to be one of the best kosher delis I've had outside on New York! I stumbled upon this place because I had a meeting a few blocks away and had to check it out because of its super old school looking storefront. If something looks like it's been around that long, you know it's doing something right! Its a small basic little kosher deli with sandwiches, deli meat, fresh made knishes and other Jewish pastries. I just wanted a little snack, and got a chicken knish and it was amazing, just like my grandmother used to make them! While he was heating it up, we chatted for a bit and he told me the shop has been there since 1942 i believe and that he's the 3rd generation owner. He's the sweetest old man. He also offered me a sample of his lox that he makes himself with no nitrates, along with a chicken tender. The lox was some of the best I've ever had, it wasn't too salty and was super buttery and melted in your mouth. The chicken tender was great as well. If your looking for a great old school no frills kosher deli, look no further, this is your spot!“

“Me and my friends went to Holly Grill Food Truck last wednesday. I must tell you their shawarma and chicken sandwich left me thoroughly impressed. The shawarma was expertly grilled, boasting succulent slices of marinated meat that were bursting with flavor. Each bite was a harmonious blend of aromatic spices and a satisfying balance of juiciness and char. The chicken sandwich was equally exceptional, featuring tender and well-seasoned chicken complemented by fresh toppings that added a delightful crunch. The overall experience was a testament to the food truck's commitment to quality ingredients and skillful preparation. I can't wait to indulge in their delectable offerings again soon.“

“Sharing my catering experience with Dahlia @ Delice. I contacted the bakery with less than 3 business days before an annual corporate meeting when my originally contracted vendor bailed because of early am delivery times. Dahlia rescued me for two separate catered breakfasts and one boxed lunch order. Everyone enjoyed the food, desserts (cookies, mini french tarts and treats), to gold plasticware! Menu highlights included bagel, mini quiches and egg croissants. Platters were beautifully arranged. Delivery service was timely and efficient. One day they even beat me to the meeting venue! Customer service and follow-up were exceptional. A very special thank you to Delice Balery on behalf of my company.“

Munchies Kosher • $

“Absolutely adorable family-owned Kosher candy shop! Many of my friends who grew up in the area have fond childhood memories of scoring a sweet treat at this old fashioned candy store. If you are attending a bar mitzvah, bat mitzvah, bris or Jewish wedding anytime soon, this is an excellent place to get a nice gift basket or party platter for the occasion. When you enter the store, there will be tables on your right followed by a great-looking ready-to-scoop ice cream selection under the glass a big menu and an attentive staff member to help you make a selection and ring you up. Take your time filling a plastic bag with unique homemade candy from around the world. My favorites are flavors like saffron marzipan white chocolate with pistachio and rose. Yum!Order a coffee drink, milkshake, sandwich or slice of cake and take a seat to enjoy it or make your kiss and coworker's day by showing up with a platter of delicious desserts. I chose to buy my friends some candy at nostalgic Munchies because I remembered something special about the checkout from years ago. At the register, you can donate your spare change to a few different very special charities such as humanitarian aid for victims of terrorist attacks and hate crimes. I got a tax return which I'm turning into a cool Yelp list. You're welcome to join me! Top ten local family owned-business that collect and contribute to local and international charities. I'm dedicating my spare change to the cool charity of choice for ten small businesses in LA. This is one of my favorite charities so far.:)Shalom Munchies!“
