“We had a business dinner here and I'm still thinking about the whole experience a week later. The food is a culinary explosion in your mouth. Highly recommend getting several things and sharing with the table. The risotto and seafood pasta were incredible. I cannot even describe the flavors. The cocktails were also indescribably brilliant. Our server was perfect. She was friendly but professional. She had the perfect balance of being on top of everything, but not being on top of us. All around perfect experience.“

“After reading some reviews, because it was close to our hotel, we gave KSBC a try.
Well, that turned out to be a good idea!
Ricco, an interested waiter, came to have a nice chat. He recommended the beer-brined pork chops. My husband has never had such delicious pork chops!“

“Juan Jasper’s Wine Bistro - A Golden Hill Treasure
Don’t let the simple “wine bar and restaurant” description fool you - Juan Jasper’s is the kind of place that turns first-time visitors into regulars before they’ve finished their first glass of wine. Tucked away in Golden Hill, this cozy spot has mastered what so many other places try to manufacture: genuine community.
Let’s talk about the food, because it deserves the spotlight. They serve what might just be the best fries in San Diego - no small claim in a city full of great food. Their burger? It’s a standout served with bordelais. The menu changes regularly, offering a thoughtful selection of global classics that pair perfectly with their wine selection.
Speaking of wine, Juan Jasper’s maintains an impressive and ever-rotating selection of wines from around the world. Whether you’re staying to enjoy a glass (or bottle) with your meal or picking something up to take home, their knowledgeable staff will help you find exactly what you’re looking for.
But what truly sets this place apart is the atmosphere. Walk in and you’ll likely be greeted with a hug rather than a formal hello. Regulars welcome newcomers like old friends, making introductions all around. It’s the kind of place where solo diners end up joining other tables, where conversations flow freely between strangers, and where everyone seems to be having a wonderful time together—even former strangers.
This isn’t a pretentious wine bar or an exclusive club - it’s a neighborhood gem where great food, excellent wine, and genuine hospitality come together to create something magical. If you’re looking for a new favorite spot in San Diego, Juan Jasper’s should be at the top of your list.“

“We stopped in here during our visit to San Diego. We were here over the Thanksgiving weekend. The place wasn't that busy. We got seated very quickly. We ordered the Steakhouse burgers which was very delicious and full of flavor. We also had several draft beers and a margarita. The drinks were very refreshing.
We enjoyed our visit and the staff were very nice and friendly, however the music was obnoxiously loud which shorted our visit.“

“Previously I rated my travel and dining experiences drawing on my family owned restaurant experiences but it has been a while. I had to speak on this dining experience because it was off nominal in service and food quality. I was in San Diego California and are at the Bronze Bird restaurant in the Westin Hotel, gaslamp area. I did not stay there but chose the US Grant instead. We entered the restaurant for a late lunch and it had the perfect illumination for dining. The above head concave and convex ceiling art was relaxing. Great spacing between tables to accommodate those less ambulatory. They offered upscale day based meal selections as well as intriguing "sharables" which by the way ARE sharable, enough for 2 to 3. We were seated by Cynthia who was professional, personable and joyous and tended to our pre meal drink orders. She returned in less than average time and offered dining selections for each of us as she handed us off to Ruben. She checked on us throughout the meal but was not too ever present. Ruben continued the professional, joyous service and took our orders after selection distillation. "E", who rates such foods, had the personal oven fired pepperoni pizza and fries that he rated as a 10. The cookery of that pizza wes excellent and fries chispy. "N" had a speciality salad with salmon and the delicious brussel sprouts also a 10. I loved the freshness of the chilled fruit and greens of the salad. Great seasoning on the salmon. We ordered a sharable of honey hot wings and they lived up to the name! The were lip burning hot yet flavorable- not just punishing hot. I ordered the the short rib queso tacos and OMG they were the absolute best dish of the day!! From experience with this cut of meat i could taste the low and slow 8 plus hours of cooking on that pull apart short rib. The flavor was spot on and the pickled red (sweet, not tart) onion and queso were a winning combination. "N", who is also skilled with "big meats" sampled them and had the same wonderful reaction as myself. I highly recommend you try them if in the area. We topped our entrees with desserts suggested by Cynthia of churros for "E", red berry mascapone for "N" and the skillet chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream for myself. "N" and I added an oat milk latte hand crafted by Rubin which was spectacular in presentation and flavor. The deserts were also overall terrific in flavor, presentation and serving size. Sampling the 3, we all agreed the skillet cookie was tops as it was warm, gooey andscrumptious and overall yummy!. 'E", "N" and I give the Bronze Bird our highest recommendation for lunch or possibly a great casual meal with family or friends. If you find yourself in San Diego's gaslamp district, I strongly suggest you make the Bronze Bird a foodie stop - you won't be disappointed! CIAO -"G"“

“I love crack shack. I was born n raised in San Diego but moved to Memphis where I learned what good fried chicken is. This is the fried chicken spot in Southern California. Fire nugs+fries+pickles you can not go wrong. The bar tender is really awesome and the food is seasoned perfectly. Really good desserts as well.“

“We went there ON Saturday to watch the Steelers/Ravens game. Even though the Steelers lost 😕, we had a great time. We sat at the back bar and Amanda was a great bartender. I don't think my glass was empty the entire time I was there. She was friendly and helpful. Greg, the manager, was a fellow Steelers fan and stopped by to chat a few times. We ordered the buffalo wings and they were so yummy. They were good sized and had great flavor. I didn't get any of the macs but I saw one going by and it looked amazing. Definitely going back.“

“Earlene prepared a special birthday dinner celebration for one of our dearest friends. So many special touches including the warm way she welcomed the birthday “celebrant” and us into her restaurant with a tasty nonalcoholic sangria to everything she did to make Diemut’s birthday dinner beautiful surpassed our highest hopes! We truly thank her for everything she did to make her/us feel special. It was absolutely spectacular. The celebratory blue touches - especially the blue butterflies on her cake- the delicious food and ambiance- everything. As Diemut herself said, “It was a volcanically successful birthday celebration.” We are in Erlene’s debt for helping us make our dear friend so happy.“

“HAPPY HOUR: 4:00-6:00PM...this is a great way to get drunk before an evening Padres Game! It was quite busy, but my friend and I managed to grab the last available table. Staff was friendly and efficient, we got our drinks and food quite quickly given the crowd. 5 Stars during Happy Hour, maybe 4 Stars after Happy Hour.
$8 Cocktails include Gimlets, Old Fashioneds, and Vodka Mules...I drank Gimlets as they cheap, refreshing and delicious! And much cheaper than inside the stadium.
$8 Nachos...nice snack, its a small dish, but still satisfying.
$6 Fries...good enough
$17 Burger...not a happy thing, described as Double Smashed Patty, Swiss, Bacon and Special Sauce. Good burger, I've had better, and it sadly did not come with any fries. Hence the extra side order of fries above.“

“I got the soy chorizo burrito with breakfast potatoes and a mimosa. There's some other veggie options like a veg omelette, a wrap, chilaquiles, impossible burger, and some other things. Coffee and drink selection looks good. There's a nice little patio outside I sat in. There's a few 1 hr reserved spots in the parking garage for this place. Definitely a nice morning treat for myself.
Parking: There's some 1hr reserved spots in the parking garage.“

“We ate several meals at Vistal while staying at the Intercontinental Hotel. All were delicious and well prepared using fresh, local ingredients. The Cinnamon Roll Pancakes at breakfast were the best pancakes I’ve ever had! Our server, Reyna, was very attentive, personable and added to the enjoyment of our dining experience. Sitting on the balcony overlooking the bay added even more enjoyment!“

“We chose the Westgate Hotel for our Mother's Day brunch, and it exceeded our expectations. The menu offered a selection of carefully crafted American and other dishes. I'm writing this review with the hope that the Westgate will reinstate its pre-COVID Mother's Day buffet brunch, which was one of the best buffets our family ever experienced. The buffet featured a wide variety of traditional and non-traditional breakfast foods, with multiple stations, all presented in a classically European decor. Although this time we ordered a la carte, the food was still delicious, and we left the restaurant feeling satisfied. Westgate, we eagerly anticipate the return of your buffet when it is safe to do so.“
“My favorite happy hour!!! The food, drinks the elegance! everything is absolutely exquisite! They have the best bartender in San Diego, every drink this man makes is outstanding especially the cosmopolitans! And the prices are affordable. Thank you! I will recommend to everyone I knowI just came on 3/14/24 again for happy hour and I wanted to give praise to Moneyshh, being his first week as the bar tender and server, this gentleman made us feel so welcome and was so attentive. We noticed something was different on our charcuterie board and with no questions he spoke with the chef and fixed it. The customer service is wonderful thank you!“
