“Portion sizes for a sushi restaurant are double than what's typically served at other sushi restaurants. It was really surprising because I went in without knowing what the food was really like and I ended up getting this mountain of fresh sashimi! The sushi rice was seasoned well and the fish tasted great. They gave me a dipping sauce which I assume was a mix of yuzu, soy sauce, and sesame oil. I loved it more than regular soy sauce for my sashimi. My husband ordered a specialty roll and it was basically a futomaki, but it spanned the entire length of his torso.

I would absolutely recommend this place for its quality, excellent portion size for its price, relaxing atmosphere, and quick service.“

Tried an assortment of sushi and hand rolls edamame cucumber salad and their spicy beef bowl. All gray and fresh although the the spicy beef bowl wasn’t spicy and was more sweet than anything else. Overall a solid 4.“

“I want my review to literally reflect the 4.8 currently for this restaurant. The food is good, but with some reservations. First off, the sushi was fresh and tasty. My daughter loves sushi and they did not disappoint. I ordered the Bento box with the beef teriyaki upgrade. The teriyaki was fantastic, definitely home made and had superb flavor. The problem was the meat. It had the distinctive taste that it had been left to marinate in the blood of the meat. Understandable, while it didn't ruin the meal, the taste did give me pause. Everything else, the tempura, salad, and California rolls; were excellent. The service left me puzzled. The young lady at the counter was friendly and helpful. However, it would have been nice to know we could have ordered at our table instead of the counter. Minor quibbles aside, the food is great and the service was excellent. Definitely a place to check out in Laguna Beach.“

“We were visiting Labor Day weekend from Chicago, happened to walk by this place and stumbled in. The host/server was courteous and friendly. The rolls were great. They even made me a custom roll I asked for not on the menu. The chef was fun to watch! Great little date spot. No line to get in, delicious, and great atmosphere. You can’t go wrong here!“

“Sashimi is a sushi restaurant located at the corner of Lake Forest Drive and Dimension Drive. It appears to be run by a Korean family and is a popular spot among the locals. They have a sushi bar, but we opted to dine at a table. Steve greeted us and was not only friendly and helpful, but his service level enhanced our overall dining experience.

We tried a number of dishes during our visit. Among my favorites were the Veggie Tempura, Salmon Nigiri, Lake Forest Roll (I appreciate that they allow substitutions so I subbed spicy yellowtail in place of the spicy tuna) and Special Carpaccio S. The Spicy Salmon cut roll was nothing special and tasted more like a California Roll. The Yellowtail Cheek was good, but it was more meaty and less tender than I've enjoyed at other Japanese restaurants. My wife ordered the Pink Lady, but I prefer my sushi with rice. All in all, we enjoyed our Sashimi experience and I'd recommend checking it out if you're in Lake Forest and in the mood for raw fish at a reasonable price.“

The fish can be a little pricey at times (since they're all market rate), but they do offer high quality options like chu toro, king salmon, and bluefin tuna. It's difficult to find a quality sushi bar with top-notch 'wagyu' sushi. The carpaccio is outstanding and much more. The chefs (Luke, Jose, Effrin) all do amazing work, and the owner deserves praise for sourcing high-quality fish. When I'm not in the mood for cold sushi, the yellowtail cheeks are the best in Orange County. The price is also best you'll find in ALL of OC.
All jokes aside, this restaurant is truly excellent. It's owned by a very kind man and is a local favorite in a small part of Orange County.

And my own lifehack for those taking care of calorie intake: I eat miso soup before my meal so I'm not that hungry anymore. Green tea is also a great drink because of its health benefits. Sometimes you have to wait for about a half of an hour to be seated, I believe you can check in on the website prior to arrival.“

“I've been to this sushi bar a few times, they never disappoint. I like that they have plenty of options with no crab meat, and I like their yellowtail rolls. The amount of fish in the rolls is generous, and the size of a portion is big. The second set of the rolls is 50% off before 3 pm (not sure if that works everyday or just weekends)“

We decided to go there on a whim after a great massage next door and we're lucky enough a different party didn't show up to their reservation. We waited outside while one of the servers/hostess figured out somethings. Communication could have been better but alas we were seated and promptly served. Food was delicious! The Totoya roll is a must, it just melts. The salmon skin hand roll was super crunchy, caterpillar and eel and avocado rolls were smooth and velvety. Not too pricey but we also didn't order alcohol.“

“Super slow - came before opening and signed up for the waitlist. At opening they process the waitlist in order one at a time with a 15 minute grace period per group. It’s just so inefficient - when the restaurant is completely empty why not at least do it in batches.

It’s crazy for the restaurant to still be half empty 50 minutes after opening and only like 10 groups have been processed.

Food is good but honestly just not worth it for an hour wait, let alone two. This is the wait I expect for a premium sushi spot not a more casual one. Would not come back until they figure out how to process their lines more effectively.

Seared Engawa is fire tho.

I had an amazing experience at Niko Niko Sushi! My Rainbow Roll was absolutely delicious, fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The Eel & Avocado Roll was prepared well as well by Ponce, who’s clearly a talented chef.

Jenny, who handled both serving and hosting, was attentive, and incredibly efficient. Between dine-in guests and a steady flow of mobile orders, she and Ponce worked together like a well-oiled machine. It’s rare to see a two-person team handle that kind of volume with such professionalism and grace.
