50 Best Sushi Bars near Lake Forest

“Sashimi is a sushi restaurant located at the corner of Lake Forest Drive and Dimension Drive. It appears to be run by a Korean family and is a popular spot among the locals. They have a sushi bar, but we opted to dine at a table. Steve greeted us and was not only friendly and helpful, but his service level enhanced our overall dining experience.

We tried a number of dishes during our visit. Among my favorites were the Veggie Tempura, Salmon Nigiri, Lake Forest Roll (I appreciate that they allow substitutions so I subbed spicy yellowtail in place of the spicy tuna) and Special Carpaccio S. The Spicy Salmon cut roll was nothing special and tasted more like a California Roll. The Yellowtail Cheek was good, but it was more meaty and less tender than I've enjoyed at other Japanese restaurants. My wife ordered the Pink Lady, but I prefer my sushi with rice. All in all, we enjoyed our Sashimi experience and I'd recommend checking it out if you're in Lake Forest and in the mood for raw fish at a reasonable price.“

It was also unusual that the rolls fell apart. They gave us two eggs with the oden... The bonito broth tasted exactly like the one from Lawson convenience store, haha. The sake-steamed clams really tasted strongly of sake! The sukiyaki was quite impressive, a huge bowl! The only downside was the lack of a raw egg accompaniment, which felt like something essential was missing“

“All these negative reviews have me losing faith in humanity. The pic where the food is messy has to be either they handled it wrong after picking it up or most likely a clumsy delivery driver. The bathroom reviews are ridiculous. Access to a restaurant is not a human right and unless you have had to clean up after jerks you have no idea how much time it can take to clean it and you should expect to have to make a purchase at any restaurant this close to a high school to use it.

Yogis is awesome for what it is. Decent sushi and teriyaki for a decent price. Not the best but certainly good enough to stay in business for over 30 years.“

“I want my review to literally reflect the 4.8 currently for this restaurant. The food is good, but with some reservations. First off, the sushi was fresh and tasty. My daughter loves sushi and they did not disappoint. I ordered the Bento box with the beef teriyaki upgrade. The teriyaki was fantastic, definitely home made and had superb flavor. The problem was the meat. It had the distinctive taste that it had been left to marinate in the blood of the meat. Understandable, while it didn't ruin the meal, the taste did give me pause. Everything else, the tempura, salad, and California rolls; were excellent. The service left me puzzled. The young lady at the counter was friendly and helpful. However, it would have been nice to know we could have ordered at our table instead of the counter. Minor quibbles aside, the food is great and the service was excellent. Definitely a place to check out in Laguna Beach.“

“After several visits for both lunch and dinner, I can say with confidence that the food here is excellent and the place is spotless. And I mean that sincerely. The dining room is clean, and even the men's restroom was immaculate. Nothing kills an appetite faster than walking into a restaurant bathroom that smells like dirty mop water. Not the case here.
Our server was extremely attentive. Move your dish an inch and it was cleared before you even noticed. That kind of service matters.
Honestly, I struggled to find a single negative thing to say about the food or the experience itself. So I want to be clear: if a neighbor asked me where to find good, close sushi in Ladera Ranch, I would send them here without hesitation.
But there's something I've been thinking about since walking out, and maybe other people feel the same way.
Half the fun of a sushi bar has always been the connection. Knowing your chef. Picking up a conversation where you left off last time. The kind of familiarity where you end up buying your chef a drink because that's just the relationship you've built. It's one of the things that makes a neighborhood sushi spot feel like a neighborhood sushi spot.
That experience doesn't exist here. The chefs are skilled and clearly focused, but there was no eye contact, no conversation, and from what I observed, heads buried in phones between orders. It felt almost like a policy. And maybe it is. Maybe that's intentional. But it's a noticeable absence.
The food doesn't even have to be perfect for a place to earn that kind of loyalty. Some of the spots people drive across town for built their reputation on the relationship as much as the rolls. I miss that.
So: great food, great service, spotless restaurant. Absolutely worth going. I just hope someday the sushi bar feels like a sushi bar again.“

“Oh My Sushi is a hidden gem tucked away in a strip mall in Laguna Niguel. They serve incredibly fresh fish, beautifully presented in both classic and creative sushi rolls. The Toro Tasting is amazing. The décor is modern and inviting, the drinks are inventive, and the dessert selection is a sweet surprise. “Located in Tustin, this sushi restaurant is what authentic food is made of. My wife and I were in the mood for some sushi and this was the perfect spot. Servers were really professional, informative, friendly, and welcoming.

The interior is underrated, a darker ambience than most restaurants, moderate amount of seating, not tight nor too spacious, perfect for a sushi restaurant, very clean as well.

Parking is free and plentiful around a popular plaza.
We came here for AYCE on the weekends and it's at a affordable price ($39.99). Our orders were taken really fast and the food came out moderately quick as well. Presentation is amazing, especially the sushi fish board. All the fishes were really delicious & well made, not too much rice to overpower the taste of the fish, perfect balance.

The Sake2Me Special Roll (8pc) is my standout dish, highly recommend even for non rice roll enjoyers, it's super savory and has great balance of flavors between the ingredients and the extra ingredients on top + sauce.

There's also premium items as well that can only be offered once, delicious and well presented.

Sake2Me is a great spot for any sushi enthusiast, one of the best sushi restaurants in town and very good service with quality food.“

“Sushi bear is so good! I was craving oysters and thought about going to Honda-Ya but the line was too long. I wandered in on a Thursday night and was kindly greeted and seated quickly. Ordered the kamamoto oysters which hit the spot. I also ordered the sushi combo which came with a Hawaiian roll, everything was fresh and delicious. The staff and chef were so kind. Needless to say I left full and happy ☺“

“We sat at the sushi bar and Joe-san was our sushi chef. He was fast, efficient and everything was tasty. We chose the Oh My God roll towards the end and honestly folks? It is OMG spectacular! And so was the Queen Imperial with yellowtail and mango. Great service!!!“

“Wow! What a find! Had lunch at Tomo Sushi and everything was just so genuinely good. I ordered the cucumber salad and the sashimi roll, and the chef surprised me with complimentary crab tempura. OMG… that crab tempura was incredible — the flavor just burst in your mouth.

And the miso soup? Definitely a winner. Not lukewarm like so many places… I mean actually hot, fresh, rich, and flavorful. You could really taste the care in it.

The restaurant itself is quiet and comfortable, with two chefs and one server, and everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Nothing felt forced or over-the-top… just genuine hospitality and really good food.

“Came here for an impromptu double date mid-day during lunchtime. We got in queue via Yelp, and the wait was roughly 45 min. I got the chirashi and a blue crab handroll, and both were excellent. The chirashi is a satisfying flavorbomb that makes it hard to take a pause. When you get towards the end of your bowl, they pour a little crab broth into our remaining rice as a finisher. It is simply divine and something that makes me want to keep coming back for more. The blue crab handroll is great. It's a really nice creamy starter if you're looking for a quasi appetizer to the chirashi.“

“I've been to this sushi bar a few times, they never disappoint. I like that they have plenty of options with no crab meat, and I like their yellowtail rolls. The amount of fish in the rolls is generous, and the size of a portion is big. The second set of the rolls is 50% off before 3 pm (not sure if that works everyday or just weekends)“
