“This a hidden gem in Lakewood!! The meat is so delicious and cooked very well. I had the tacos with carne asada and they were off the chart!!! Two thumbs ups hands down. Best tacos ever!!!!!! “Big fish tacos with cabbage, tomatoes and white sauce! Ceviche had fish, crab, little bit of octopus and large shrimps although a bit pricey. It’s still good on a summer’s day. The fried round tortillas were a bit oily as it soaked all through the paper bag. Combo had rice and beans as well. Parking can take a wait but it’s well organized with a staff person directing the cars. You can wait at the take out shack as an alternative to eating inside the restaurant. There’s already a line at 5 on a weekend afternoon so go early!“

“Even if not stopping on the way home, the charcoal aroma makes their asada of the best fills the street almost everyday providing comfort for us in the neighborhood. As many reviews mention the pastor, it is worth its weight in gold. I bounce back and forth getting each.

“I finally stopped by Carnitas El Mirarador and wow… this spot seriously lives up to the hype. From the first bite, you can tell everything is made with care and real flavor.

The tacos are next level—the carnitas are perfectly cooked, juicy on the inside with that slight crisp on the outside that just hits right. But what really stood out to me were the tortillas. You can taste that they’re homemade, soft, and fresh, and they make a huge difference in every bite.“

“I was told about this place from an out of town coworker that has relatives near by. The owner/cook was very hospitable and everything was surprisingly low priced. Tacos were very tasty and well balanced. I would go back definitely. The only thing I didn’t really like was the parking lot cause its entrance is very close to a busy blvd with fast traffic. You have to exit very carefully. I recommend either parking in the back, side street or back in.“

“I first visited this place five years ago, and it was amazing—one of my favorite taco spots in L.A. I’d been wanting to try it again, and recently, while visiting SoCal, I had the chance to stop by. While it’s still pretty good, it doesn’t quite feel like it used to. The tacos are smaller now, as is the trend with most places in L.A. I’m not sure what happened, but I’m guessing one of the main tortilla distributors started making them smaller, promoting it as a selling point so that trucks don’t have to use as much meat and ingredients. What surprised me here, though, is that the tortillas are handmade and yet they started making them smaller. I still enjoy them—they really are the closest thing to a Tijuana-style taco. “I’ve been coming to Taco Boy on Slauson for their taco special that comes with a soda
( it’s my sons favorite) The prices are very reasonable, especially compared to other Mexican restaurants, and the food has always been good. I haven’t tried much of the menu yet, but I also haven’t heard anyone complain about the quality.

One thing to keep in mind is the wait time. Even if you call your order in ahead of time, expect about a 20-minute wait. I’d recommend ordering ahead with that in mind if you’re in a hurry.

My only real criticism is the staffing. The young man working the front is expected to do way too much by himself. He’s taking orders, handling payments, answering the phone, and bringing hot food out to customers dining in. That’s a lot for one person, and it’s not fair to him or to the customers waiting.

This isn’t a complaint about the employee—he works hard. It’s a suggestion for management. Hiring one more person to help at the front would make a huge difference. Service would be faster, the phone could actually be answered more consistently, and the employee wouldn’t have to juggle so many responsibilities at once.

Overall, I’d still recommend Taco Boy for the good food, generous portions, and fair prices. I just hope management gives their hardworking front counter employee the support he deserves.“
