“I was happily surprised to find Saturday evening reservations available at this outstanding Menlo Park establishment. I was in Palo Alto to visit my god-daughter at Stanford and had a hankering for some awesome food while in town. The restaurant has its own (free) parking lot, which was also a big plus. We were greeted warmly and seat promptly for our 7:15 pm reservation. The services was very attentive, right off the bat, with water and fresh baked bread arriving swiftly. The lamb chop appetizer was divine and our only complaint about the delicious dungeness crab gnocchi appetizer is that it wasn't available as an entree portion (we made a suggestion to the chef to change that). She joined the clean plate club with her risotto entree and I really enjoyed the fresh catch entree. If you drink lemonade, don't miss out on the lavender rendition offered here. We were saddened that they has already sold out of the homemade snickerdoodle ice-cream, but I guess we'll have to save it for next time. I can't wait to visit here again. It was simply outstanding. “I'm a big Barebottle fan and have visited their various locations before this one opened. Great beers including amazing sours (my favorite!). The staff are always so friendly and happy to provide tasters and recommendations when there are new rotations.

I booked the lounge area with with pinball machines and games for my birthday celebrations last week and the team were absolutely amazing. We opted to have our guests grab their own beers, but staff checked in with us throughout our time to make sure we had everything we might need!

“Food: only ordered vegetarian food and everything was amazing. Falafel was probably the softest I have ever had so far and the mezze sampler was also quite good. I'll recommend starting off with sampler and ordering anything you like as a separate dip. Street fries were also good. They have unlimited tea and the mint lemonade was super refreshing.

Service: this place has minimal interaction with servers as every table has a QR code to order food and pay when you order.

Atmosphere: divided into 3 parts outdoor, indoor and patio. Indoors is bright with open kitchen and patio is dark with plants, string lights and heaters. Sat in patio and loved the vibe.“

“This place is an amazing spot, specializing in a variety of amazing food options including, fusion and incredible appetizers that are easily shared and make for a great time in any dining experience. The staff was knowledgeable, patient and friendly. The price was reasonable and the atmosphere was that of a high end restaurant. We did however experience a slight sewer odor when we first arrived but it dissipated shortly afterwards.“

“I have had nothing but spectacular experiences at Rootstock, and especially the MV location! The staff is so knowledgeable and is so kind within their expertise. I have so many questions and so little knowledge but they always make me feel welcome with all my questions. The drinks are, of course, spectacular! I impress people at parties now with all I’ve learned through Rootstock. And the food is so tasty, I love the Empanadas especially! They have such a beautiful space and I’ve now been here at least twice when the dim the lights from day to evening and it’s always such a beautiful and subtle but welcome change. I have no restauranteer skills but the expertise at Rootstock is so inviting and inspiring to me, I dream of opening up a Rootstock location in Canada where I go to school!

This is one of the greatest wine bars in the bay: yes for their wine selection! But also? Truly foe their staff, the ambience at their wine bar, the member program, and all that I learn from their experts behind the bar *AND* all the food I enjoy and fun I have. I love this place and I’m too scared to have tattoos for real but I’d tat I love roortsfoxk on my body, that’s how enamored I am! And this is a review after 2+ years of being a patron here! but now that I’m a few months into my wine club membership, I just really had to make clear my enjoyment of Rootstock. The ambience reminds me of Edward Espe Brown’s writings: the table is a place of giving and receiving sustenance. Here we are served and serve others. That’s what I feel at Rootstock and it is such a pleasure and privilege! They make me want to learn about flavor notes so I can truly wax poetic about their menu, ambience, and so much more.

The TL;DR is if you are of drinking age, and in Mountain View: you HAVE to go to Rootstock. you will be doing yourself a disservice if you miss them! my favorite restaurant, from the chefs to staff to sommeliers! Endless things to love and celebrate.

Vegetarian options: There are a number of veg options! 3/4 flatbreads have meat BUT they are so flexible with substitutions. I often ask for meat removed (when alone) or on the side when I’m with friends and they are always so kind and on top of this.“

Parking: It's first come, first serve for street parking, which is Okay during the week but tricky on Fridays and Saturdays. There is also paid parking available.“

The beef is like a crispy beef jerky texture. I had a language barrier when ordering so just point what you want on the menu.“
