Big Basin Vineyards - Tasting Room & Wine Bar Wineries •
525 Pacific Avenue, Santa Cruz

“We recently visited the Santa Cruz tasting room after an event we attended in the area. Our server was very personable and attentive. The ambience of the tasting room was cozy and artfully decorated. Lastly, the wine flight was incredible. They offer an option of a custom tasting flight which allows flexibility based on your preferences. They also have a small bites menu available which looked tempting but alas we had just eaten.“

“This is a perfect spot for foodies! There were a mix of folks on a date night and families, too. Nice open space and ambience. We were drawn by the options on their asian fusion menu. I started off with an old-fashioned with a bit of cinnamon… really good! Our teens, my husband, and I enjoyed all our dishes- bulgogi fries, spicy Brussels sprouts, scallops, hella crab spaghetti, and loco moco. The mango sticky rice was a great way to end the meal. The food was delicious and presented beautifully!Service was also super-friendly and attentive. I guess this spot is currently more known for their breakfast/brunch, so we’ll have to come back to check it out.“

“I don't leave reviews, but OF really deserves it. Unexpectedly heading back to Campbell for a friend's wedding soon and I am excited about the chance to dine here again. We were there in Oct '23 and did the 'let us cook' option. The food was great, some slight misses but that should be expected with experimentation. For our 16th? plate they pulled up a table and served us a Blue Fin Tuna collar. It was insane and great and everything that makes a memory. The crew is obviously having fun and are proud of what they are doing. Most of our tasting plates were right off the menu and hit the mark. If you’re on the fence and a little adventurous give them a chance. It was the most memorable meal of our 4 day culinary trip. The night before we dined at some really fancy place in Yountville. That says a lot.“

The ambiance is so perfect and cozy for a more relaxed night out. The bartenders were so nice and helpful when ordering. The food was pretty straight to the point but yummy so I can't complain. “shing and a little tart! I also got the crispy plantain taco which was amazing! As someone who just came back from Panama this was on par with the plantains out there! The crispness and saltiness from the taco paired with the sweetness of the cranberries and plantain was just perfect! The only problem was that it was a little bit dry so if there was a sauce to go with it?! The elote were really cool with an amazing shape almost curled up like ribs! They were tasty and had crema and tajin on them! However for their price I would have wanted a little more! I also got the churrasco steak! The steak itself was well cooked and flavorful with a little bit of tomato sauce! The charred vegetables were also amazing! Overall it was really an authentic dish with even the rice being unique with a completely different taste than normal! However I also wished they had some kind of sauce to go with the dish which would have made it just supreme! We ended off with a churro which was warm and gooey with a vanilla center which I loved! Overall the food here is authentic and unique, but it is on the pricier end. However for the amazing service and ambiance paired with the good food I would definitely give this place a try!“

“Been here a million times and took a million photos, yet this is the first time I’ve done a review. It’s pretty short and simple…..this place servers good vibes, tasty dranks and yummy snacks. Not sure if things have changed since the establishment opened, but they don’t serve hot foods as they don’t have a full kitchen. All their snacks are really good though (deviled eggs, spiced nuts). The drinks are REALLY good, like the best cocktail spot in town.We came on a Wednesday at 8pm and it was pretty groovin. I would def make a reservation for a Friday or Saturday. I’ve tried walking in with just two peeps and they are almost always full. They do have a big patio but even then, it’s so packed.Brian is the only face I recognize. Didn’t see Jacob. Both are friendly and knowledgeable about the drinks. I always go with their recommendation, and it never fails.Parking is easy. They have a standalone lot they share with a restaurant and other smaller nearby businesses, but there’s also a lot of street parking. Better yet, just Uber bc you will have at least three cocktails before you leave.“

“Excellent for happy hour - food items at half off, and they taste pretty good. Wine choices are underwhelming but a good deal for members (20-30% off list price). Tasting event was busy but wines were meh. This location is a bit small, so it feels crowded and noisy. Even tables were so small that there wasn’t enough room for the food! No patio seating as Castro is blocked off - in fact, the neighborhood vibe has seriously degraded. The Los Gatos location is much more attractive and spacious (outdoor seating).“

“My friends an I visited 20Twenty on a Friday evening (no reservations, they don't take them) and found it SO busy! We arrived at 7 and waited around 40 minutes for a table to open up. The ambiance was cozy and warm, so parties were sticking around for a while. There was also a back patio and bar seating, but nothing large enough to accommodate our party of 5. Once we got seated, our server quickly came over with water and we ordered some wine. I chose the Liberty School Cabernet Sauvignon, which was pretty good, but I do wish they offered wine flights. For food, we got the Meatballs (SO good) and the 6 Item Make Your Own Board. They were out of Prosciutto, so my friends chose one of the other meats and we got 5 cheeses - the Quicke's Smoked Cheddar, OG Kristal Gouda, Cambozola, Manchego, and Blueberry Vanilla Goat Cheese. All of these were absolutely fantastic, but the Gouda and Goat cheese were probably my favorite. I wanted to try the Cypress Grove Humboldt Fog, but sadly they were out of this one too. The board itself was well assembled and perfect to share as a group. My friend also really enjoyed the Garlic Pesto Flatbread he ordered. Service was on the slower side, but I eventually ordered a glass of the Klinker Brick Old Vine Zinfandel, which I actually liked even more than the Cabernet. Overall, we enjoyed this spot and I can see it being really great for a date. Would return!“

“You are walking around the neighborhood, catching the San Jose sunset and you come across a bar. Your friendly neighborhood bar.You walk in, greeted by friendly servers, eager to seat you. Instantly you feel welcomed and warm inside. You walk over to your seat, looking around, captivated by rustic vibes. A yummy vegetarian option, covered in a sweet balsamic glaze. Your server comes to check in on you, they are full of smiles and service.Something about this bar gives you that safe, comfortable feeling, a place where you can watch a game or two, go on a date, read a book, make new friends and socialize. “Cider Junction is a great spot to have a chill outing and try some cider while snacking on some delicious food! Their tap list does tend to change but there always seem to be lots of good options on there for each rotation! Our favorite this time around was the hemly pink lady - off-dry apple cider with pink lady, braeburn, and granny smith... it's like super apple!! We supplemented our flights with their loaded baked tator tots and their pretzel with beer cheese (always get the beer cheese over the mustard!!!!) We always love getting their pretzels - there's just something about cider and pretzels that make them pair together so well. Overall, it's a pretty chill and affordable spot to hang out! I love that about Kaita. I usually stick tot he specials but I was in the mood for simple and basic. I got the beef teriyaki for the first time here and I was very pleasantly surprised. Cooked perfectly medium and the sauce was good texture, not too thick or thin. I thought Gombei had the best teriyaki but this visit to Kaita may have changed my mind- definitely tied at least. The salad and miso hit the spot and the service was awesome! This is true comfort food for me, with plain white rice- best lunch out, in a long time! Wife had the chicken teriyaki donburi and she enjoyed that as well. It was a very large portion and she took a lot home for later. We had one soda and loved the complimentary tea. “I have been here many times over the years and it hasn't gone too downhill. Yes, the quality has taken a hit and the prices have gone through a steep increase, but it is still reasonable compared to the other soju bars in Santa Clara's Ktown. They have a nice selection of alcohol and offer soju in fresh fruits. I am partial to their coconut soju served in a coconut ? and the pineapple soju?.They have some basic side dishes on hand because who can go without kimchi for some of these dishes? but you have to ask for it. You may also want rice even though it could taste old but you're too drunk to care.I like their seaweed rolls with vermicelli because they fry it like spring rolls which is quite different from other places. I also recommend the spicy chicken with cheese and the seafood pancake. The kimchi fried rice is decent with the perfectly cooked egg but not the best. I don't recommend the army stew. It's hard to rate the service because it's not consistent. I do really appreciate the hours though, open until 2am everyday. It's popular enough that sometimes I have to wait for a table on a late night weekday. There are only a few spots in front of the store. The other spots are usually for the other stores unless they are closed. However, there is parking around the corner and in the back.“
