“This place is expensive, 10.00 for a 4 inch sandwich, but it's totally worth it! I got the BBQ brisket sandwich and YUM! The only downer is that the guy at the counter is hard to understand, which happens, but the look of disappointment he gave to anyone who didn't tip was not cool. I never tip the first time I go there. After the first time, if it's eat in, I tip, but carryout is a no.“

“Amazing sandwich for lunchtime, the pasta salad and prepped deli items were incredible and fresh made. This was a great find when we needed to grab a sandwich and head to the beach for the day. They also have a great fresh meat selection if you’re picking up items to take home and cook, plus a selection of Italian pastas, cookies, chips, etc. The staff are so kind and welcoming, and a small local business. If I lived in this neighborhood, I’d be here all the time!“

“I really enjoyed the falafel bowl, ingredients were very fresh, flavor and texture were great, portion was substantial - I had it as a big late lunch but it probably would be sufficient as most of a dinner. I ate in at lunch and it was not busy at all. It was also more affordable than I remember mixt being a few years ago which was a nice surprise. Great spot for a big fresh salad made to order!“

“Total hidden gem in SF. It’s low key and does take out only, but don’t let that fool you, this place rivals SF’s finest establishments. I moved in a few blocks down the street and have been ordering take out almost every day as I unpack. I’ve tried the chicken hummus plate, meatball and rice plate, and the Beyran Soup. Literally each dish was 5/5 amazing. The soup was the best soup I’ve ever had in my life. Super rich flavor, but not overly salty. Just right. Honestly these folks should turn into a full fledged restaurant.“

“Proper Food is a grab-and-go eatery located in the Financial District. It is targeted towards workers in the area as it is only open on weekdays during breakfast and lunch. They sell a lot of standard fare like sandwiches and salads, albeit with a gourmet slant. Was visiting my company's SF office, which was housed in the same building and got a light breakfast here. I can imagine this being a default spot if I was working there and needed to grab something quick to eat.“

The chicken was good and a really good amount, but underneath it was mostly just lettuce leaves and a few other pieces like some chopped orange slices. Paid a ton of money and they left out all chicken, bacon or onion and I swear put in someone's old grilled cheese as croutons. So I tried Mixt. Boiled chicken instead of crispy and no cucs. Then I ordered from here and you restored my faith. Seriously thank you. Exactly what I ordered. It was delicious as well. THANK YOU! Just wanted a salad that I ordered and finally got it“

It’s big too, filling. Will be coming back for another soon. I also really enjoy the ambiance; spacious with ample seating, rustic charm in a clean setting.“
