“This is our favorite sandwich shop in Mill Valley and frankly one of our favorite sandwich shops we’ve encountered even while living in SF for nearly 10 years. Sandwiches are a dime a dozen but the best sandwiches have the right bread, right amount of moisture vs dryness, high quality deli meat, and that certain set of ingredients that you’re not quite sure why it’s so much better than other sandwiches with the same ingredients. That is ABSOLUTELY Antone’s East Coast Sub Shop!! My husband and I go almost every weekend, it’s such a treat for us. I’m actually getting hungry for it as I write this review 😅

Also, the owners are the sweetest people ever who clearly love their shop and the community. I was running late to their shop before closing hours and they sweetly left my sandwich out front for me with my name on it bc they knew I was going to arrive after they closed up shop. I also saw a bunch of cars try to get a sandwich but were too late after hours, so clearly this is a local favorite!“

“Great Value, Great Breakfast, No Sticker Shock

Shelter Bay Cafe is one of those rare Mill Valley spots where the food is good and the prices still make sense — especially for breakfast and coffee.

The breakfast menu is the real standout. You can get:

Egg, bacon & toast for $9

Eggs, bacon & hash browns for $11

English muffin breakfast sandwich for $8

Those are real, filling breakfasts at prices that feel almost nostalgic. Even the more dressed-up items stay reasonable — avocado toast at $14, breakfast sandwiches mostly in the $12–$15 range, and a solid breakfast burrito for $14. No “artisan surcharge,” no nonsense.

The coffee is good and sensibly priced — refreshingly not one of those places where the coffee costs more than the food. Lunch keeps the same fair-value approach, with sandwiches generally $14–$16 and an $8 grilled cheese that actually feels like a deal.

Add friendly owners, relaxed outdoor seating by the bay, and a genuinely local, unpretentious vibe, and this place becomes a dependable go-to. Not hypey, not precious — just good food, fair prices, and a place you’ll happily come back to.“

“Stopped by on a whim and I’m so glad I did—it ended up being the best decision of my week. The woman at the counter was warm and welcoming, and she helped me choose their classic muffaletta (plus a chocolate chip cookie). “After a stressful 24 hours tending to a pup with tummy issues and then a car break in and consequential wild goose chase through Oakland late last night because my friend is insane, I was really in the mood for a sandwich. This place was perfect! Worth the hype. Three hours of sleep, add two sandwiches (California street and tropic like it’s hot) and I am so happy in great spirits. All is well. “I ordered a mango smoothie, which was very good. They have a good menu with many choices for breakfast and lunch. They have outside seating and are conveniently located. The service was friendly with a big smile. I am a local and will definitely return.“

Was getting a tire fixed close by and walked in to get the mortadella sandwich. Neopalitana? Which the sandwich was on point and perfect. Also it was made quite quickly. Sat outside and the owner I would assume asked me how it was. Great place and sorry I forgot to take a picture of the sandwich :)

You can tell there’s a strong recurring clientele, and for good reason. We had the pleasure of chatting with the owner, a wonderful and welcoming man, who made us feel like old friends. On our second visit, he even surprised us with fresh orange juice on the house – such a thoughtful gesture!

“Looks like a a tall , green , corn chip dipped into a red salsa sauce. It does not have the grace of Flatiron in NY; and hence it relies on reputation of hosting a restaurant, Cafe Zoetrope, frequented by the great film director Coppola ; it’s a building that lives on the fame of another person. When you first enter you’re welcomed with smiles and a good vibe. I would suggest pre ordering as there has to be a line at times. You’re hit with a menu board and tons of options both sandwiches and drinks.
I chose the Bulgogi Bahn Mi, sandwhich was huge! The beef was so tender and hefty. Guaranteed to fill you up . The pickled veggies were fresh and well flavored. The bread! Soft but has a light crunch.
Washed it all down with a Mango Green Tea Bobba. Not too sweet and also tasted fresh.

“The barbecue chicken sandwich is great. Comes with cilantro, carrots, cucumber, pickled radish and chicken. All served on a soft , yet crunchy french roll. This place is not to be missed. Around 11 dollars for a good size sandwich. A deal, and a delicious lunch meal. A few stools to sit on in the windows, or take it to go.“

Came here for lunch and shared a clubber sandwich and the spicy tuna salad 🥗. Both were very tasty.

The clubber is a huge sandwich with lots of turkey, bacon on a soft ciabatta roll. Would definitely get this again.

Salad had a large variety of ingredients. Miso ginger vinaigrette dressing was excellent 👍. Tuna tartare was tasty 😋. Would also get this delicious salad again.

Also took the smores rice crispy snacks. They were a bit stale 😢. Would not get this again.

Overall, liked my sandwich and salad 🥗. Would come back for more delicious food.“

“A “Must Stop” for lunch! The best sourdough bread I’ve ever had. Wanted to go back and just order a bunch of bread to take home and spoil the family. The perfect crispy crust and then soft chew center with lots of wonderful savory sourness. I had the Ham & Pastrami. Perfect fresh ingredients. “The staff at this Subway are awesome. I came in at 9:30pm to order 17 six-inch subs for a student field trip, not realizing the store closed at 10pm (online it said it was open until 1am). Adrienne the girl at the counter was soooo nice to agree to make all the sandwiches, which ended up making her clock out late. She saved the day! The field trip with the kids was a hit and they loved their sandwiches.After I left I realized I accidentally left my credit card in the card reader (tired teacher). Alex F the morning guy kept my card safe for pick up after I got off work. You just don't find kind, honest, and hardworking people like Adrienne and Alex that often anymore.I believe the manager's name is Mr. Sunil.If you read this Sunil, you have two superstar employees working for you!
