“Royal Donuts in Mission Viejo is one of those classic local donut shops that reminds you why small neighborhood spots still beat the big chains. From the moment you walk in, the smell of fresh donuts hits you and you can tell right away that things are being made properly, not just shipped in frozen and reheated like some of the larger franchise places.

The selection is excellent. You have all the classics you expect like glazed, chocolate frosted, maple bars, old fashioned, and jelly filled, but everything tastes noticeably fresher than the average donut shop. The glazed donuts have that perfect light texture where the outside has just enough sweetness without being overwhelming, and the inside stays soft and fluffy. The maple bars are especially good and are generously sized. One donut can honestly hold you over for quite a while.

Another thing I noticed is the consistency. A lot of donut shops are good early in the morning but fall off later in the day. Royal Donuts seems to keep a solid rotation going so you are not getting something that has been sitting around for hours. The donuts still taste fresh even later in the morning.

The staff has always been friendly and quick, even when there is a small line. They move people through efficiently without making you feel rushed. The shop itself is clean, simple, and exactly what you want from a neighborhood donut place. Nothing fancy, just good donuts done right.

Prices are also very reasonable compared to a lot of places now charging premium prices for basic donuts. Here you still feel like you are getting great value for what you pay.

“Please come here and try the Salvadoran food. Service was great and the donuts were good but the real reason to come here is the other food items available.
We tried the jalapeno and cheese and the mixed meat pupusa's and they were fantastic. We also had the fried plantains with beans and sour cream which was delicious. Had fries and a Salvadoran pork tamale as well.

“So sad today was their last day, the owners retired and I'm not sure if there will be new management or not, but ever since moving into a home nearby in 2023, my daughter and I have have become a big fan!

Their donuts have the best soft texture, their vietnamese coffee is Lee's sandwiches concentrate which is my favorite as well, and their brewed drip hot coffee is always fresh. The owners are very nice and always greet you when you walk in. I've visited them at least once a week every other week. Wishing them the best in their retirement!(:“

“I went in this morning and ordered the signature burrito with no ham, cashier was friendly. It was ready quickly and tasted fresh and delicious with a side of green salsa I will return here soon, for another breakfast burrito. They have a very wide selection of donuts and drinks to choose from.“

“This is DEFINITELY the hidden South Orange County gem that the true locals around here know all about! Very friendly service. Donuts are great but their sandwiches are EXCELLENT. My tip: Always go with their longest length sandwich. I go with either pastrami, egg, or veggie sandwich -depending on the mood and always with everything on it.
