“I came to Monterey for a self care day and decided to check out this cute little cafe =) I am happy I stayed through the longer line. I expected that meant good food. And it sure was. I noticed it was a one man show. He was super sweet to gifting us free bakalavas for the wait time. I lovedddddd the walnut and the apple cinnamon. I ended up buying 20 pieces for my drive home! I got the falafel and baba plate with the spicy lemonade. It was super tasty. What I love about his one man show, is the dedication to this place, his love of food. It is not your typical fast food culture, it is a come sit, talk, stay awhile, enjoy this food and good company kind of vibe.“

“What a great little restaurant! We happened to find it after we didn’t want to park a half mile away to go to a local place on the wharf. The service was impeccable and the food was excellent. We started with crab cakes then the beet salad and finished with the Seafood Pasta. The cream sauce in the pasta was epic. They grill the bread before bringing it out, sooo good. We were visiting from LA on our anniversary and they were so kind to give us a complimentary cheesecake dessert. My wife loves bread and they even made us a fresh batch to go, with our leftover salad. Can’t recommend this place enough. Do yourself a favor and get over here soon!“
“Very good breakfast food. Very quick service. Plenty of seating options. Would recommend this place for a good brunch option even if you’re not staying at the hotel. I think the buffet is a little over priced, but the menu options are correctly priced and taste very good. We stayed at the hotel for 10 days and got breakfast every morning, the head chef and the manager came out and talked to us every morning to make sure we were okay. They were accommodating to allergies, and overall was very good experience.“

“Unfortunately, there are not that many Mediterranean/ Middle Eastern Markets in Monterey atea. I come from Southern California where there are ample Mediterranean supermarket but at least this place offers some Mediterranean goodies not found in regular supermarkets. The owners are very nice.“

“Excellent food and experience. We worked with Viviana to cater a 50+ person party, and she exceeded our expectations! Not only was the food delicious and a hit at the party, but Viviana took the time to let us sample each option, delivered the food to our location, helped us set up the food, and was great at communicating. We will definitely get catering from Demetra again! If you haven’t had their food, check them out!“

“9/17/25 Experience the Mediterranean here in Pacific Grove. Delicate balanced flavorful dishes accompanied by soft Mediterranean music.
The staff always friendly and great service, been coming here now for the last 2 years and everything I have ordered excellent balanced in flavors not too strong of one ingredient or another, they're Clam Chowder silky and smooth the best anywhere in the San Francisco area.
Today I had their churros salad The Mediterranean comes alive.“

“Route 1 was closed and I had to return to Carmel from Big Sur and took Freeway 101 instead. So another pasta at Portabella! Always going back for it.“

“—->> IMPORTANT: read the whole review. The hotel is in a weird part of the neighborhood that made me think there might be some seedy businesses nearby, the small parking lot behind the building is accessed by an extremely narrow alleyway and I was afraid I might have trouble turning the car around, and the rooms are small. —- BUT —- The hotel has tons of charm and they work hard to make your stay memorable. Our room was thoughtfully appointed with hardwood flooring and a heated tile bathroom, supportive pillows, an electric fireplace, a wireless charger, a jetted tub, and Charmin toilet paper! The window opened out to a small hint of a balcony. As we were coming and going throughout our stay I was touched to see the cleaning staff spend so much time cleaning just one room, and even at one out I saw one of them polishing the baseboards. The breakfast was delicious, with freshly baked popovers hot out of the oven accompanied by butter and homemade jam. The lemon ricotta pancakes were very good — I had no idea lemon could taste fragrant and floral without being sour. The polenta was buttery and delicious. We got to meet the owner Nick, who was very nice. Tony checked us in and served us breakfast with a smile every morning.“
