“My Mom and I regularly frequent the restaurant in Murrieta. We so look forward to seeing the amazing staff. Every time we go it feels like we are at a party. We especially love waiter Lee. He is a credit to Sizzler. He is always upbeat, fun and attentive. He makes celebrating a birthday or anniversary a really good time, and we love to sing with him to celebrate the other customers. We also want to give a shout out to Mercedes who is also one of our favorites. Then there's manager Guillermo. He is so pleasant and always present on the dining room floor. He makes us feel like family along with manager John. They are always checking in to make sure we have everything we need. The next area of excellence is the food. Always fresh, bountiful and delicious. They keep the food buffet and the salad bar immaculately clean and full. The bus staff is always keeping the tables clean once customers have left, you never see a table with dirty dishes for very long. In fact the entire restaurant is always clean including the floors. That location is really setting the standard of how all restaurant visits should be.”

It is always a treat to find a spot that pays so much attention to detail. The sushi rolls were beautifully prepared with vibrant ingredients, and the drizzle of sauce added a nice touch of flavor. We left feeling completely satisfied and will definitely be coming back soon.”

“Historically, The Hat in Alhambra, CA, has been our go-to spot since the 90’s. It was a nice surprise to see one in Murrieta! My wife and I decided to go for our always favorite Pastrami Chili Fries, a Chili Cheeseburger and our daughter had her favorite Cheeseburger. The place is roomier, and spotless with a welcoming vibe thanks to the Night Crew that offered a superb service. Managers, please keep this in mind. You have an excellent team there and we will return for more The Hat!”

Brought out the condiments BEFORE the meal! Place is always spotless and just a great place to come and enjoy a meal! The manager, Ms.C (the manager) is always friendly and is always there to answer any questions! And one more thing, the prices are VERY reasonable! So glad we reunited ourselves with Applebee’s!”

Prices were very reasonable during weekday lunch and waitstaff accommodated every need. They were willing to refill the sides!

Also, I don’t usually order poke at a sushi restaurant but I didn’t regret taking a chance. The scallop and tuna are fresh and the bowl itself had abundant and well-seasoned toppings including seaweed, avocado, imitation crab, and fluffy rice. It came with a side of miso, and they provided complimentary ice cream for dessert. What more can you ask for?”

I had peanut sauce chicken and orange chicken (split the two dishes between him and me). The picture taken is from the orange chicken, which I returned just to have that again. The Thai iced tea with cream is so delicious too! The orange chicken is crispy and made fresh to order making it the best I’ve ever had. This place is a treasure in the area, and worth going to as orange chicken is usually something even picky eaters will like.”

Even though they weren't open, Jason was incredibly welcoming and kindly offered to make us some drip coffee on the house. “As someone who can be very particular about food and whose palate has been influenced by the kind of attention to detail you’d expect from a Michelin-level kitchen. I’ll admit I went into Valley Pizza with a pretty critical eye. My wife will tell you I can be a little picky when it comes to what I eat.

But sometimes, a restaurant earns your respect for reasons that go beyond what’s on the plate.

The wings were a little on the salty side for my personal taste, and I’m always going to be honest about that. What impressed me far more, however, was the customer service and the way Valley Pizza handled the situation.

I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and his wife, and they were incredibly warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly. They made us feel like guests rather than just customers. I actually tried to keep things pretty low-key, although my wife has a habit of giving people a little heads-up about me and my food opinions, which I’m pretty sure can change the atmosphere in the room.

But here’s the thing: great restaurants aren’t defined by never making a mistake. They’re defined by what they do when something isn’t quite right.

Valley Pizza absolutely got that part right.

They were thoughtful, attentive, and even offered to remake the order. I honestly didn’t feel that was necessary because the way they treated us after the fact went a long way. That kind of hospitality says a lot about the people behind a restaurant.

And then there’s the price. Valley Pizza is very reasonably priced and family-friendly, which is exactly what a neighborhood restaurant should be. In a community like Murrieta, having a place where families can enjoy good food without feeling like they’re breaking the bank is a big deal.

So, yes, I’m going to be picky about the wings. That’s what food critics do. But I’m also going to recognize exceptional hospitality when I experience it and Valley Pizza delivered that in a big way.

I highly recommend Valley Pizza and look forward to returning. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on them and looking forward to featuring them in a future column.
