“They have great food and a fantastic venue to listen to quality musicians! I was there last night with my husband. We got to hear Kenny Metcalf perform Elton John’s Deep Cuts. It was SO good! Kenny Metcalf performed songs I have only heard on Elton John’s albums. I’m so delighted I got to see this particular show!! WOW! It was off the charts musically and Kenny is such a talented singer and musician. When I closed my eyes I thought Elton was singing. The band was amazing too. That guitar player that I don’t remember his name, played a few solo guitar riffs that had everyone in the room clapping. The sold out venue was electric with the sound of Elton John’s deep cuts that I would never have heard live. So amazingly well done!!!! I left with a big smile on my face. I’m going to tell all my friends about Campus Jax….“

“NICE LUNCH ! My wife and I hit this Whole Foods Market in Newport Beach on Saturday morning for most of our weekly grocery needs. It was pouring down rain when we arrived and when we left....thankfully the Fashion Island huge multi level parking garage is straight across the street. After taking care of our grocery needs we headed to the tavern ( opens at midday ) at the rear of this store. We've had lunch here a few times and it's all been good. We parked our full shopping cart beside a table and I fetched a menu from the bar counter. Juana the manager / server / bartender said hi. I asked for a couple of iced waters. My wife selected the TTLA Sandwich ( Tempeh bacon, garlic aioli, green leaf lettuce, tomato, avocado, toasted ciabatta, side salad or fries ) with Fries option and I decided on the Pulled Pork Sandwich ( BBQ pulled pork, BBQ sauce, cabbage, ranch, pickles, toasted brioche bun, side salad or fries ) with Fries option. My Pulled Pork Sandwich & thick cut Fries came out within a few minutes but my wife was left wondering about her order. A minute or 2 later Juana came to our table and said the kitchen was out of Tempeh Bacon ( bacon made from fermented soy beans ) . WHAT'S THAT ? Not being vegetarians we had no idea that Tempeh Bacon was a fake bacon. GIVE US THE REAL THING ! Juana said they can substitute regular bacon for the fake stuff. Eventually my wife's BTLA Sandwich with thick cut Fries was brought out by Juana. NO PROB ! I think the lunch menu should be clearer when describing the ingredients...in particular the Tempeh Bacon. We were both pretty happy with our lunch....I did mention to Juana they should go easier on the BBQ sauce. GOOD SPOT !“

“Just like to say a great atmosphere lovely staff especially Tony on reception a true professional and respectful and all the bar staff and not forgetting house keeping staff irene who took great care of my room with a lovely personality I would highly recommend this hotel if you're going to Newport beach California for vacation. “Me and my hubby been docking boats or ferry-hopping our bikes to Balboa saloon since the seventies. Half the year we live in Newport, half Montana-where whiskey still hollers your name out there. This here's our bar, our heartbeat. Fourth we light it up, holidays on lock, pool tables bruised from our elbows, salt and lager thick as perfume. Ensenada-Newport race? Honey, we command this place like pirates. The Owner finally did somethin' right-floor don't grab my flip-flops, somebody's moppin'! Jeff's still king behind the bar, new gals laugh real, pour cold, TVs sharp as knives. Only hitch-get Cruisers to wing it over so we quit dodgin' Death Trap Balboa Boulevard. Five stars, fat tip, and girl-we're bringin' every neighbor, every sunburned neighbor's dog, every salty soul we love down here to share the buzz we just crashed into.“
