“I just came by after my dental appointment to check it out because it looked so cute inside. I ordered the detoxing juice and I wasn’t sure if I would like it but oh my goodness, the first sip was a long one because it was so good! I Wish I would have gotten the bigger size! “I was in search of a good Chile Relleno Burrito and Google Maps suggested Calimex. I'm so glad it did! Easily one of the best I've ever had. The poblano chile was the star of the show. It was fresh and green, didn't taste heavily fried or buried underneath a ton of cheese. And the rice and beans packed a ton of flavor. Great flour tortilla too. It didn't look like the flour tortillas were homemade, but they were so fresh and delicious they could pass for homemade. Definitely a labor of love, the whole family is back there in the kitchen having a good time together and making incredible food. Will be back! Looked like a popular gathering spot for families and groups.“

When I complimented her on how the place looks, she said it's her mission to make it feel that way. “I enjoyed the chili verde plate with a melon margarita very much. I use to go to the owners other restaurant Carumba's in Alhambra for over 40 years until it closed. So glad to have found their other restaurant, even if I have to drive a lot farther, it's worth it.“

“We appreciated the quietness. There was a digital jukebox available but nobody used it while we were there. I ordered a tostada de carnitas and I asked what they put on it. The waitress said beans, carnitas, (ensalada) or lettuce and cream. But when served, it was covered by salsa. She offered to take it back to remove the salsa, but my husband’s food was already there and how are they going to remove the sauce? I just scrapped it off, but I didn’t enjoy the food I envisioned I was going to have. My husband said his enchiladas de camarón were descent.“
